This is not an official club event and is being posted as an event of interest.  Might be a good gathering for our members in the area.

Granatelli Motorsports is having a dyno day and car show at its facility in Oxnard (1000 Yarnell Place, Oxnard CA, 93033) on Saturday, March 9. The event is from 9am-4pm.

Their facebook page link with the full deatils:
https://www.facebook.com/events/128298160678866/?ref=22

Admission and registration for the car show is free! People who want to enter it just have to register with the class sponsors and have their car judged (by the class sponsors). The sponsors will also provide the prizes.

The classes they have are:

Best of Show – Sponsored by Scosche

Most Horsepower Force Inducted

Most Horsepower Naturally Aspirated

Best Engine Bay

Best Pre-75 Classic – Sponsored by Wilwood

Sleeper Award – Sponsored by Coast Driveline and Gear

Of course the most horsepower awards are for attendees who get on the dyno... But there will also be a "Best of Show". "Best of Show" is determined by a ballot that will be available until voting for "Best of Show" is up.

Along with "Best of Show", there will also be a winner of "J.R.'s Pick"... Which will be a vehicle that J.R. Granatelli picks as his personal best of show.

All awards will have trophies, or plaques, and prizes; either from the sponsoring vendors or from Granatelli Motor Sports.

Food will be on site, along with activities for kids.

Map and registration form for the dyno can be found in the facebook link at the top of this post.

Just updated times and some details.  The address is also now google maps clickable.

Lets start setting up meet points?

Agreed!  Good write up Paul!  It was a really cool event and we had a great turn out despite the weather.  That was only the 3rd time ever the Viper was driven in the rain.  Good thing I lived close by ;)  I got her detailed the next day so all was well in the universe.

And you are most welcome Lance!  I am glad I could help and wish I had time to do more!

Paul, Lance, Anthuan, Nino, Scott H (likely can't make),

Let's try to eat dinner together and do a short VCA update meeting after we eat.

Thanks,

Yup!  Lets do it!

Hey Gang,

If you're like me, you go straight to the forums page on the socal site.  This means you may miss the events calendar for the year.  We have a list of all upcoming events for 2013. Some are still in the planning stages and some dates are tentative, but this should give you an idea how the year will be shaping up.

Calendar link:
2013 Events Calendar

I will post links to the forum thread for each event as they become available.

Cheers.

I just made an update to the parking situation in post one.  The first half of the tour will be at the main Edelbrock facility at 2700 California Street in Torrance.  There is limited guest parking there, but plenty of street parking as it is an industrial area with not a lot of traffic.  The second half of the tour will be at Vic's Garage Museum a few blocks away and we will drive over there as a group.

See you folks on Friday!

Yes a huge thank you to Eddie and his team!  Sat. was indeed a great day!  I think I speak for everyone when I say we all felt like we were very well taken care of.

It was really cool to just be able to hang out, check out other members' rides, and talk gear head stuff.  All while our cars are being worked on by a top notch crew!  A great Sat. indeed...THANK YOU!

Yikes!  Was all that from going off track at Willow?!  At least paint is easier to deal with than walls/stationary objects!

Just SOOOO many design styles all competing for attention on that one car.  It literally looks like it was designed by a committee.  Mishmash, hodgepodge...those words only start to describe the nightmare...

I wonder if the rubber chock block is standard or an option.

Its an option...part of the "track" package to help with braking.

Palm Springs Auto-X
Corvette vs. Vipers

Bring your "A" game boys and girls!  Vipers are the defending champions of this Auto-X event and we have the Corvette guys' trophy to prove it!  We're not ready to give it back quite yet...we like keeping other peoples trophies...especially those who drive slower cars ;)

What:
-Palm Springs Corvette vs. Vipers Charity Auto-X
-All money collected will go to the ALS Lou Gehrig's and the Boys and Girls Club  <1
-Driver's License and proof of insurance (of course you have these!) are required
-Helmets are required for all participants
-Passengers are allowed though they will need helmets too

-We are working on a special Viper package rate that will get us our own lane and more runs for the money.
Keep in mind that we are out there to help raise money for the charities........AND

-Defend our trophy from silly Corvette drivers!

-We have set up lunch at the world famous Jackalope Ranch at 1:00.  This is not just a restaurant, its a destination.
They have a special line up of lunch items for us to order in a reserved area.   Cost is $24.00/person and includes soft drink, tip and tax.
