I don't believe that Viper Days "requires" a fire extinguisher, but most track events do. 

Even if you don't track, it is a really good idea to have one, just in case.

Viper Days requires a fire extenguisher for cars classed "modified" and up.

Check their website for details, but it doesn't take much to get to modified.  For example, an SRT-10 with a cat back or no cats and an aftermarket computer flash (DC) will get you to modified.

Better to just buy the fire extenguisher and not worry about it.
