^7 I have a 2004 viper and recently it is making a weird whinning sound at cold start ups.  It kind of sounds like a tea pot but not so high pitch.  It only lasts maybe 10 - 20 seconds and stops.  Oil level is safe, but I feel like it has to do with oil, maybe pump?

Anyone else has/had this noise??

Hi Jim,

My guess, without hearing it, would be a fan belt noise.  Come to our Dyno Day at DC Performance on Saturday morning July 14 if you can and we'll get some opinions from the pros.

You won't hear the oil pump.  You could hear the lifters at start up and that would be due to low oil pressure at start up.  This happens when the car sits for a long time between starts or needs an oil change.

Hey Jim,

I would agree with Dan; belt, belt tension or a belt driven accessory.

Just to be safe, I would check the power steering fluid level.

Hope to see you at "Dyno Day"!
