Sunday September 24, 2006 So Cal Viper Caravan to Las Vegas VOI9

Some of us SCVC members may not be planning on going to the VOI9 on Saturday.

For all of us who are planning on caravaning to Las Vegas on Sunday the 24th of September, lets see who want to Caravan out of the LA Basin to Vegas?  We can meet in Victorville or some place on the high desert allowing people from all directions to focus in on a standard meeting place.

Very cool website for the cars, all awesome, the 99 vette is wow!  I am working on a new exotic, will let you know within a month.  Should blow everything out of the water!

We need a Saturday get together!  Had my Race Yellow Viper out last Saturday, up the PCH, was running most excellently!  Got to the Ventura County line and Neptune's Net.  Was just an excellent day for cruising.

If I join your group, I will be discrminated against because of being a West LA Viper Owner and not living below the Orange County Line (brings to mind "crossing the Rubicon  -  http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/caesar.htm " type situations) !!!  However, it is tempting!  You need another race yellow viper on San Diego County roads!  That's a long way to go, with tons of traffic, but it is a good reason to get the Viper off its butt and on the road.  You guys ever been to the Barossa Valley Inn Casino for a run or an over night?  San Diego Vipers ROCK, fer sure!

I will get my camera out and post some new pics.  I had my Cannon 20D stolen last year, cops found it at a pawn shop in downtown LA, they are sending me a notice so I can go and pick it up.  So now I have two Cannon 20D cameras, with two Tamron 28-300 lenses.

Pahrump is a sjprt drive from Las Vegas and we will have caravans to lead the way for you. I checked the website looks like a great event.  I didn't see the place(s) where the caravan(s) will be departing from, would you mind posting the place(s) for the out-of-towners.  I'm thinking one of them should be the Venetian, since that's where the bulk of the people will  be.

This has been a great event both years we've held it. For those with questions or reservations about it, I urge you to contact our region president, Marko Radosavljevic and ask him about as he was skeptical before the first event there and has since made a 180. You can shoot him an email at [email protected].

The caravans have not yet been set in stone, but we are planning one from the Venetian, another from the intersection of Blue Diamond Rd and Charleston Blvd (there's a gas station there where we traditionally meet) and another from the Silverton (I-15 & Blue Diamond Rd). We will be announcing the caravan points and times in the next few weeks - the times and locations will be clearly posted on the website, mailed to the region presidents and I will make sure they are posted here. We are still in the midst of setting these kind of details up with our members (we need some volunteers from our region) and should have everything nailed down after our next region meeting.

Here is a post I have had with Jerry De Young, President of the Mid Cal Viper Club.  They are caravaning with the Nor Cal Vipers and meeting for lunch in Bakersfield on the 24th of September.  I was trying to get a meeting place that all the California Vipers could meet at and then caravan into Vegas as a group?

We are meeting about 10-15 vipers on Sunday the 24th in Hesperia, which is at the top of the top of the Cajon Pass at about 10:30 just west of Victorville.  It would be great to meet up with you but Bakersfield is a little north for us.  You will be coming east probably on Old Highway 58 to Barstow to eventually get on the 15.  It is about 130 miles from Bakersfield to Barstow.  I suspect it will probably be difficult to meet in Barstow as by the time you have lunch and transit the 58 it will be later than when we will pass through.  However, it would be awesome to meet up with you guys and caravan into Vegas with the Nor Cal, Mid Cal and So Cal Viper groups!   Would be photo and story material for the Viper Magazine. Let me see what the other guys think about trying to meet.  Any way you would consider maybe leaving a little earlier and meeting in Barstow for a later lunch with the So Cal Vipers?  This would obviously mean the Nor Cal guys are moving even earlier but this unique opportunity to have a group of united California Vipers caravaning into Vegas and the Viper Nation would be very cool!

There is also a post on our SoCalViper forum from the Nevada VCA Regional Officers indicating there is a region wide Nevada BBQ in Pahrump, ouside of Vegas at midday on the 24th of September.

So, Jerry there are a lot of connection options on this day from everyone getting to Vegas any way they can to meeting up with the California Viper contingent at some central point as one moves east on the 15 to meeting a ton of vipers in Pahrump.  With the amount of travel distance and urge to get to Vegas on everyone's mind, the Pahrump experience may be a little too much.  But it would be a great time to get all the California Vipers together going into Vegas, n'est pas?
