THE TRIP TO WSIR IS A GO - SO PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS
One of Dave's last wishes was to have his ashes spread at Willow Springs Raceway.
On October 24th will be joining the Cobra Club at Willow Springs to do this for Dave.
We'll set up several meeting points, drive up to Willow Springs as a group (arrive around 4PM), we'll do "sedan laps" i.e. slow laps around the track for the Viper and the Cobra guys who knew Dave, and allow Arlene and likely son Jeff to stop and scatter Dave's ashes as they see fit.
Lynn Parks who heads up this COBRA event has offered that at the end of the day, 5PM'ish, we can do our drive around and when we return to the pits, he'll provide beer for one last toast to Dave "OGO" Cawthorne.
Afterwards, we're planning dinner on the way home at BJ's Restaurant in Palmdale (at the Antelope Valley Mall) for an All-You-Can Pizza, Salad & Pasta – Soft drinks, tea and coffee included for $18 per person.

Our calendar shows the Pumkin Run on October 24th.
The run to WSIR for OGO should definitely run in it's place.
I'm in for and can help in any way that is needed.
For once everyone will be running WSIR at my speed !
L
Yeah,
The Great Pumpkin Run can be re-scheduled or we can do this in it's place.
Would be nice to get the Cobra Club to work with us on this one for Dave and family's sake.
Dan
Count me in too.

Dan
Do you already have a contact in the Cobra Club?
If not, I know a couple guys in the Viper Club that are also members in the Cobra club that could do the work for us.
Has anyone contacted WSIR about "the plan" ? I assume that this is private property.
Hey Lance,
Repsones in Viper RED.
Dan
"Do you already have a contact in the Cobra Club?" No, I don't, but Arlene should. Bob Blizzard is also a member.
"If not, I know a couple guys in the Viper Club that are also members in the Cobra club that could do the work for us."
This could be helpful, please go ahead.
"Has anyone contacted WSIR about "the plan" ?"
Not yet.
"I assume that this is private property."
Yeah, I think so. Dave was good friends with the owner so I doubt that there will be an issue. Let's see if the Cobra guys will go for this first.
Count me in too!

I'm in >c
All,
We've made some progress since I last posted. The Cobra Club was very supportive of this idea and actually said that they have done this before.
We can run a lap or two, stop as a group in turn 2 (or where ever Arlene would like), get out of our cars and let the family scatter Dave's ashes.
If the group would like, we could stop somewhere for dinner on the way home.
Ideas?
Dan
We are likely going to have a pretty big group <1
I wonder if that mexican restaurant that we ate at a couple miles from WSIR would be able to handle us all?
or maybe we just go to Art's pad and Cynthia can cook for us all >1
I'll be attending.
Ben
Count me in.
I probably should have said +1 <B
Hey PCH... I think Art & Cynthia's pad sounds good too ^8 Post up a mapquest will ya! =6
I'll tell Cynthia to work only 4 hours of OT on that Saturday, she should still be able to whip up a 5 course meal for the club. Oh and she takes requests too including dessert =26
Hey Art,
This sounds like a very good idea. Is 60 for dinner OK?
Some of those pastries for desert sound good too .....
<2
Is there a group staying over night in the area?

We are all staying at Art's pad >v
Hey Lance,
Cathy and I have "dibs" on the couch!
I'll have to make room in the garage, the sleeping arrangements may not be that great, but the pastries and coffee will make up for them. >v

Hey Lance,
Cathy and I have "dibs" on the couch!
Fine....you can have the couch.
I call dibs on the Florentine guest house with the private pool and butler service. >v
"I call dibs on the Florentine guest house with the private pool and butler service."
Art, you'll have to arrange that for the Hawaiian Prince and his entourage.
We're still OK with the couch.....as long as there's plenty of wine to go with the pastries!
<2
Stephanie and I will be there!
This a special day of the year. I personally spread my parents ashes last year on this date.
( lawn chairs in the back yard and a candle for atmosphere work for us)
Glenn...............
Count Paul & Pam in. We don't want to miss this.
I'll be there.
>8
I'd like to go IF I can get the day off. Count me in +1 for now.
Count me in + 1. Eddie
Please add Nino and Ruth to the list. We wouldn't want to miss an opportunity to honor Dave. >5
All,
We need to remind every Viper owner we know of this event, so please call a friend and pass it on.
We'll also need a head count for dinner.
Dan <2
Mike & Cheryl Sinkinson will be there.
Cheryl and I (Mike) will attend both Dave's event and dinner with the club.

Please add Cuz Mike to the list.
There must be a conspiracy to prevent me from driving the car! Today was the first day I drove it in over a month... now that the 3 foot deep trench in the driveway is filled. Long story, but it sucks when power lines fall on your house!
Cement poured on Monday and dry enough to drive on now. Just in time so I can make this event!
I'll be there! I will meet you all at the Lancaster Chevron. I will be visiting with some friends in town and will most likely get dinner with them afterwards, but glad that I will make the Willow Springs run for Dave!
I'm going to be at a meeting all day, I am taking the Viper. Hopefully I can reach the track before 5 pm.
I stop for a bite of pizza +1
Sorry guys, cant make it now.

Hey Doc,
FYI, in the interest of saving space ..... and embroidery costs, we shortened Lance's Sidewinder "call sign" to Flyin' Hawaiian".

Dan <2
I like it, maybe we could even shorten it more to just
"Flyin" ? With the new ACR, we should print out a Italic name for the viper.
"Flyin' Hawai'ian"Kinda like "Big Daddy Dan Gartlets"
Phewww...I'm glad we are droppin' the Prince part. I'm sure the Ali'i were turnin' in their graves.
Flyin
Its very sad to see those pictures so full of emotions. Now he's been put to rest and we can remember him everytime we race.
Dave, RIP. >o

>r A big thank you to everyone who came to Dave's last run. It meant so much to me and my family to see all of you come to honor him. I know he would say "It's a beautiful thing." Thank you for sharing the moment with us. He's now laid to rest where he spent many of happiest moments. It will forever be a fond memory for me.
