SoCal Viper Members Autocross and Drift Clinic
Saturday October 15, 2016
Auto Club Speedway Lot #6

This year we're returning to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana for our annual Autocross and Drift Clinic. This has always been a very popular event for new and long time members.  The Speedway's huge Parking Lot 6 is an ideal place to take your Viper out and push it to the limit, gaining a full understanding of what happens when you cross the threshold of tire traction while learning to control it.

Thank you to our member Randy Tribolet for setting us up again this year with Naoki Kobayashi, team manager of Megan Racing. They are bringing 3 instructors to teach us the basics of car control through lessons in Drifting. Randy told us "I know some folks are a little reluctant to burn up their street tires. For $50 you can take out Naoki's drift car and smoke 'em all you want. They bring a truck load of tires and expect to go through some. They will try to bring two cars this year. Their cars are set up for drifting and a bit easier to control in a drift.  It's a great way to get a feel for it.  Last year, many of us rented the car first and then took our Vipers out afterward. I think that's the best way to do it."

Whether your goal is to learn how to full on drift your Viper or simply get the "feel" of having the back end slide out and what to do to catch it, this is the ideal opportunity to come out and learn.

DATE:
Saturday October 15, 2016

LOCATION:
Auto Club Speedway - Parking Lot 6
9300 Cherry Avenue
Fontana, CA 92335

TIME:
8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

COST:
$100.00 per car includes one driver and lunch.
$35.00 for each additional driver or guest, includes Lunch.
Drifting School: $50.00 per driver.

Since this is a VOA Member's Only event, if you haven't renewed your 2016/2017 club membership now is the time to do it.  Keep in mind our Holiday Party is also a member's only event.  Remember, half of your membership dues come back to our local region to help support events like these!  https://driveviper.com/join/

Miscellaneous Discussions / Raymond J. Bucci 1933-2015
October 07, 2015, 12:37:15 PM
My curiosity arose when I had not received any replies.  Ray was a great member.  We will miss you.

"Raymond J Bucci M.D., 81 passed away peacefully on January 31, 2015.

Raymond was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 12, 1933 to his parents Rames and Isabella Bucci.

Raymond attended St. Joseph's Preparatory High School in Philadelphia and from there gained the discipline and knowledge to pursue his love of medicine. Raymond attended the University of Pennsylvania and attended Medical School in Kansas City. Always a lover of warm weather and the amazing car environment of Southern California, Raymond relocated his family and began his career here. Raymond worked as a General Surgeon throughout the Los Angeles area, eventually settling in Simi Valley in the 1970's. He was one of the original founders of Simi Valley Doctors Hospital, where he introduced the laparoscope for surgery in this area. This revolutionized surgical procedures and enabled patients to have a less invasive surgical procedure, resulting in a decreased healing time and an improved patient experience.

Raymond's passions were many: cars, planes, boats, motorcycles, skiing, but most of all his family. Raymond always strove to bring out the best in his family, always unwavering with his support and unconditional love and acceptance of all, always been fair and just.

Our hearts are so heavy and we miss you so much. May God always watch and keep you. We love you."

General Viper Discussions / 2016-2017 Officer Elections
October 04, 2015, 05:29:56 PM
The last two years have flown by and, once again, it's time to address the future of our club's leadership.  Per club bylaws, officer terms run January 1st through December 31st for a period of two (2) years.

Your current officers have worked hard to keep our club strong.  Currently we have 114 paid members, the 2nd largest region in the nation!  This positive momentum has motivated some of them to volunteer for another term.

The following individuals respectfully request to remain as officers of the Southern California Viper Club for the next two years.  The experience they have gained during this term will certainly enable a smooth and efficient transition into the next term.

- Glenn Izard, President
- Michael Hu, Treasurer
- Stephanie Izard, Secretary

This leaves the position of Vice President open.

We have many capable and qualified members who could easily step up and help with the administration of our club.  If anyone is interested in volunteering or recommending someone who would accept the nomination for any of these positions, please email [email protected] or reply to this thread no later than October 31, 2015.  Candidates must be current paid members of the VOA.

Voting will be conducted via email ballot, sent to current paid members only, in November.  Your 2016-2017 officers will be announced in December.

Thank you to everyone in advance for participating and for maintaining professionalism throughout this process.
Nominations are now open.
