^2 VIPER CLUB WESTERN ZONE EVENT ^2
The Viper Clubs in the Western Region thought it would be cool to team up with Mopars At The Strip in Las Vegas (MATS) - so we have. This is a great event just to watch, but MATS is going one further by offering a Vipers Only drag time-slot at 5PM Friday & Saturday. The VCA has arranged a private lunch for the Viper group in the NHRA Tower for Saturday. Marko, the NV club President has arranged a pay-as-you-go dinner for the Viper group at Tony Romas for after the drags on Saturday evening. The SRT Drive Experience going to be at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday as well. They have offered Viper members a $100 discount - for the day its $400 instead of $500. Bottom line, a Viper event in and around Mopars At The Strip!

Believe me - this is such short notice that as soon as we know, we will definitely let everyone know.
Hopefully we'll have info on this within a week... ^2
Sounds good. I'll book a room no matter what as I have some friends coming in from Miami.
Lance,
I'm assuming your in bud. If you get any resistance just tell Lori you're offering your services as a chauffeur for the weekend ;)
Hope Eddie and Gladys can make it too!
I'm pretty sure I'll be there. Waiting to see what the girls schedule is like.
This will be like a mini VOI9.
I'll be in Switzerland and London as usual! <F
Some details about this event have been added to the original post of this thread - check 'em out! <I
>2 Count us in!! It sounds like a blast! I've been wanting to get back on that dragstrip... <2
I am in as well with guest. <K Any word on take off time/place for that Thursday, 27 March?

Hello Curtis,
There is a huge caravan (MoPower Cruise) that leaves from Glendora Dodge on Thursday, March 27th, here are the details:
From Southern California/ Glendora Dodge.
Contact person: Matt Deane (
[email protected]) Phone# 909-599-9300
Meet at Glendora Dodge, 931 S. Lone Hill Ave, Glendora California. At Noon on March 27th, Caravan will leave Glendora Dodge at 1:00 p:m and make its way to Interstate 15 stopping for fuel at the Flying J in Barstow, scheduled fuel stop is planned for 3:00 P:M allowing 45 minutes at the Flying J. Leave Barstow at 3:45 headed to Las Vegas
This is going to be a blast. <m
We'll set up some meet points when we get an idea of who's planning to attend.
Some of you guys might want to join the Mopar Caravan, some may want to drive in a Viper group.
Let us know your thoughts.
Dan <m
I vote for a Viper caravan. But I would not object to being part of the large Mopar group if that is the prevailing opinion. Either one will be a blast.
Curtis

I think I'm going to sign up for this one. I've never drag raced my Viper so I'm very interested in trying it.
Count me in Dan and Cathy.
I plan on leaving Friday. Is there a group cruising out Friday or is everyone going on Thursday?
Thanks,
Ben
I'm registered for the Chapman Viper drag race and a room at Planet Hollywood. Can't wait to try the drag race!
See you then,
Ben
Hey Ben,
I'm driving out on Thursday. Glad you're able to make it. Thanks again for that super fast ride at BW.
As we get closer to the event, we'll set up caravans for those heading out Thursday and any going on Friday.
Hey Art and Dan,
Looking forward to it. What's the best way to launch the car off the line? I'm a newbie to drag racing. What rpm do you shift?
You are welcome for the ride but I wasn't one of the fast guys out there. Dan, David, and Terri were hauling ass out there.
See you guys soon,
Ben
It looks like for me to go, I'll be dragging the entire family out.
I probably won't be able to hit the road till midday on Friday....but at least I'll be able to go.
Anybody want to babysit? ;D
Hey Lance,
Glad you can make it. Maybe you'll find a babysitter. If not, come anyway.
Hey Ben,
We'll try and talk about the drag event at dinner the night before. The drag strip should be very well prepared, i.e. very sticky, so you'll want to take off easy the first time, slide the clutch and then go full gas. Whatever you do, don't rev it and drop the clutch. Vipers can be very fast at the drags but the independent rear suspension isn't the strongest for high rev launches.
On shifting, the GTS seems to like about 5500 rpm, the SRT's seem to like 5800 to 6000 rpm. Just be sure you grab the correct gear, relax and don't rush your shifts. A missed shift can be scary and at worst, costly.
Hugh Hoard is planning to bring his drag car and shooting for low 9's, high 8's. Lyle Larson will be driving another fast drag Viper. Both cars have huge slicks, automatic transmissions and are full on drag cars with parachutes.
There should also be a couple of local Vegas twin turbo Vipers there that are very fast drag cars. It should be fun to watch.
I'll likely drive my 04 SRT-10 but will leave the street tires on and take it easy. If I drive it well, I should get 10's. It's all for fun. Cathy is planning to drive the 06 coupe for fun. She's pretty good at the drags. I suspect she'll get high 11's and run quicker than most of the other "mostly" stock cars.
Hope to see some club members there.
Dan <2
Thanks for the info Dan, looking forward to it.
Ben
You're going to have some fun Ben.
AEM just went crazy in my SRT-10 ^4, so let's hope that DC can do something with it before Vegas or I'll be a passenger! Arg!
Is anyone planning on doing the SRT Experience on Sat?
Lance
I think they are offering us a reduced rate to do this.
Dan
Yep, it's a $100 dollar discount, price would be $400.
I went to it at California speedway, it was fun. Would we miss any good activities on Saturday if we do the SRT Track Experience?
Ben
Arriving EARLY Thursday, doing the SRT experience Friday but not doin' the drag racing. See ya'll there.
Darryl (& Dianne) >2
Hey Darryl,
Glad to see you're coming.
I can only tell you that after watching the Mopars drag race, it will be hard to watch and not do it.
Keep in mind that it's all for fun and you don't have to break any records.
If I get my SRT-10's computer fixed in time, I'll drag it, but will take it easy. This is one of the few times you can go full throttle and not have to worry about getting a ticket!
Dan ^2
Is there any new word on when caravans are leaving and from where yet? Also, for the drag strip, will I need a helmet or the hard top installed on my car?
Curtis
Red 94 RT/10
As things stand right now, it looks like I am open to leave anytime on Friday. I'll be in my "5 seater-wanna-be Viper". As long as no one is opposed to me tagging along, :P I'll join the caravan out on Friday.
Hi Curtis,
As this is an NHRA type event, I'd guess that you'll need at least a helmet, long cotton pants, long sleeve shirt and closed shoes. Not sure on the hard top, but I'd bring it if I were you. If you choose not to bring the hard top, I'd guess that they will want arm restraints.
Some of this will depend on how fast you go in the 1/4.
You can contact Mopars at the Strip for more info.
Dan <2
I'll be heading out Thursday, anybody else???? If there is a Viper caravan I will join it, otherwise I will be leaving from Glendora Dodge with the Mopower Cruise folks.
Yeah, we're going to Willow this weekend.
We should have a meet point set up by the first of next week.
Dan

I'll be at the meet point on Friday.
Anyone else going out on Friday???
Lance
I have to talk to Dai... She's in Maui... I stayed home ^4
We're both going back to the Maui Estate on the 1st.... I'm not sure if going to Vegas then jumping a plane to Maui the next morning is something I want to do...
I'll have it figured out by tomorrow <x
I am heading out there on Thursday. Definitely would like to meet up with anyone else at the Viper Thursday caravan time and place.
Curtis
Red 94 RT/10
Cathy and I are planning to be at the meeting place on Thursday morning.
Not sure which car(s) we'll be driving, likely the white / blue stripes coupe.
I may be in my black convertible.
Dan
>8 Dave & I are planning on meeting up with y'all on Thursday, should be fun...! <L
Hey Lance,
I'll be there at the meeting point on Friday.
See you then,
Ben
This was a fun event...even as a spectator ! While I missed having my Viper to drive, it sure was a lot of fun watching th 1/4 mile passes and checking out all the vendors.
The only thing that could possibly make a trip to Vegas better is guaranteed winnings at the Casino >4
