Saleen has opened its doors to the Viper Club.   ^6

Show up 9:30-10:00 AM, tour begins at 10:00 AM.  We're planning to meet at the Factory, tour their facility, then caravan 1-2 miles to the Irvine Spectrum where Saleen has their retail store (this is an ideal place for the ladies as there is a Nordstrom's right next door). We can then walk to Champs for lunch.

The factory tour has been set up by Al Fattal!!!

The New Year is here and DC Performance has several promotions for January and February.

There are many exciting upcoming events, drag racing, Viper Racing League and more.  What better time than now to make sure your car is in top shape?  DC Performance can also provide the same quality service on your family cars.  Please feel free to schedule an appointment.

TRACK SPECIAL   $525
Change brake, clutch and power steering fluids with track specific lubricants.
Perform complete vehicle track inspection and complete your tech sheet.
Perform 4-wheel alignment (track or semi-sport).

BATTERY REPLACEMENT   $150
Battery life suffers after about 3-years. It deteriorates faster when the vehicle is not in use.  We recommend replacing our battery every three years.  We clean you battery tray and terminals, use a better than factory battery and qualify your charging system.

Absolutely OK.  Spectators are always welcome.  FYI: The race group will be qualifying on Saturday and will race on Sunday.  This is a lot of fun to watch.  If you're interested, you can get a room at the host hotel, come up Saturday, join the Viper Days group for dinner Saturday evening and hang out for the race on Sunday.  I have a feeling you won't be a spectator for long... ;D

VIPER CLUB FAMILY PICNIC - This year our summer picnic will be held at Laguna Niguel Regional Park.  This is a great venue with ample parking that should work well for our members and their families.  We have reserved a large shaded structure against the hillside adjacent to a large grassy field and sand volleyball court.

Tulsa Rib Company will cater this event - they have great food.  There will be face painting, and a moon bounce for the kids - or the adults if they feel like indulging, there is sand volleyball, we will have a tug-o-war (verts vs coupes?), water balloon toss and raffle some goodies. Bring your footballs and Frisbees.  DC Performance will be bringing some special cars too!

This is an event for family - bring your kids, grand kids, parents or grandparents - maybe even a sibling or two!

Track Events / Re: Feb 2nd - Test & Tune, Buttonwillow
January 03, 2007, 06:59:43 PM
Here are the details for the Feb 2, 2007 Test and Tune day at Buttonwillow prior to the Viper Days Event being held that Saturday and Sunday:

1.    Track fees are $200 for the full day, $110 for the half day – payable at the track.
2.    Track opens at 7:00 AM.
3.    There is usually a $10.00 track access fee for the weekend.
4.    Mandatory drivers meeting at 8:30 AM.
5.    Track hot at 9:00 AM.
6.    Normally, there are several run groups based upon driver's experience level, i.e.,
beginners, intermediate, advanced and race but they didn't break this down for me.
7.    Minimum requirements for street cars are helmet and seat belts.
Viper Days minimum also includes a long sleeve cotton shirt and cotton pants with closed shoes.
I recommend full driving suit, gloves, shoes and Nomex undergarments along with your Snell 2000 or 2005 helmet,
5 or 6 points, fire extinguisher and roll bar.
8.    Race cars must be race prepared.
9.    We are working on getting a garage for our group but have not been able to confirm one yet.  They have not assigned any to date.
10.  The hotel will be the same "host" hotel as for the Viper Days event:
          Four Points by Sheraton Bakersfield
          VIPER DAYS GROUP RATE $84.00
          1-800-325-3535
          5101 California Avenue · Bakersfield, California 93309
          Phone: (661) 325-9700
It is highly recommended that you make reservations ASAP, as they have been known to book up.

I did this last year and had a blast.  There is no timing equipment and the run groups are very loosely organized so that you can get tons of track time.  This is a practice day, so you can work on the corners that you are having trouble with.  Also, there is no racing or competition of any type.  If you ask, some of the more experienced guys may ride with you or allow you to do a lead / follow if you'd like.  I had Bob Blizzard, chief Viper Days instructor, ride with me during one session last year and he was very helpful.

The following day when you get into your run group at Viper Days, you will be sooooo far ahead of the other guys that haven't been on the track since last year that you'll have a bunch more fun.

If any of you are interested in this event, please let us know ASAP.  If you know of any other Viper owners who are interested, have them contact me. If there's enough interest, we'll also set up a dinner location for Thursday night.

Thanks, Dan

December 29, 2006, 06:42:10 PM
Do you know what time the tour runs from-to?  This is the same day as the Coco's breakfast at Fashion Island followed by the Sube Sports Safety Clinic.  However, those not interested in safety ( ;)) can go from the breakfast to the Saleen tour instead of Sube's...

Beginning and Ending in Las Vegas NV...

HIGH NOON SHOOTOUT - The "High Noon Shootout" at the "Classic Corral" is an additional event available to participants presented by the SSCC. This event is a One-Mile and Half-Mile acceleration contest in Ely, NV.

SILVER STATE SPEED-STOP/Z2Z CHALLENGE - This competition, also available to participants, pits competitors against the clock to see who can produce the lowest ET for a standing start to 100 mph and back to zero.

NEVADA OPEN ROAD CHALLENGE - The main event -  This is a 90 mile timed event in which you try to maintain an average speed, as close as possible, to your class speed. The Nevada Highway 318 event begins just South of Lund, at White Pine County just north of mile marker 9, head South through Nye County, and finish at Lincoln County mile marker 7. The journey traverses 90 miles of two lane highway which is in excellent condition, with long straights, twisty sections, and dips, which for the faster participants, may result in an airborne experience.

Complete details can be found on the following website:  http://www.sscc.us
