ANGELES CREST RUN
JULY 16, SATURDAY

This is a new take on a run we did last year.  We'll start where I-15 and I-215 converge in the San Bernadino area and will drive on up the 15 to Highway 138.  At that point we'll drive up highway 138 through the little town of Wrightwood, heading to the NEWCOMB'S RESTAURANT & BAR for lunch.  This is the same great restaurant we stopped at last year on the Mt.Wilson run.  There's beautiful scenic views of the San Gabriel Mountains from the restaurant, land you're going to enjoy that and other spectacular scenery on the rest of the drive.  Lots of nice, twisty road to challenge the drivers.

STARTING POINT:  PETRA SHELL STATION 1677 Devore Rd, San Bernadino (just off I-15/I-215) in the Devore Heights area.  CLICK HERE FOR MAP TO SHELL STN
PLEASE BE AT THE SHELL STN BY 10:30AM SO WE CAN ALL LEAVE ON THE CRUISE BY 11AM.
It's about an hour and half on up to the restaurant from there.
From the restaurant, it's your choice how you head back down the mountain and homeward.  You can continue on down towards LaCanada (where we started last year on the Mt.Wilson run) or double back towards the I-15.

Bring your cameras ... this is a scenic run!  >u
GROUPS FORMING TO MEET AT FINAL GATHERING POINT (Shell Stn):

YOU ALL KNOW THE DRILL:  WE NEED TO LET THE RESTAURANT KNOW ABOUT HOW MANY TO EXPECT, SO PLEASE SIGN UP!  (although we'd never turn away a last-minute attendee who hasn't signed up!)

SAN DIEGO BEACH HOUSE RUN
SATURDAY, AUGUST 27
This is an opportunity for Viper owners and other sports cars to gather in late August and head for the beach where it's cool.
For those of you who are early birds and enjoy the company of other car-guys, CARS & COFFEE at the Carlsbad Outlet Mall parking area (near the Windmill & Ruby's Diner) starts gathering on Saturday mornings as early a 7AM and goes till about 9:30AM.
The Beach House Restaurant opens at 11AM, leaving you time after Cars & Coffee to explore the mall or drive through some of the little beach towns on the way to Cardiff By The Sea, and the Beach House Restaurant.
We are not going to try to line up a full Viper caravan, but those of you who want to travel together can definately start out as a "snake".  The summer traffic on a Saturday morning on Highway 1 (or even I-5, for that matter) has been too heavy to hope to keep a caravan together.  THE ADDRESS to the BEACH HOUSE RESTAURANT(click for map) is 2530 South Coast Highway 101, Cardiff By The Sea, CA.  On your way there, just a few blocks North of the restaurant is the famous Surfer Statue which is generally decorated or dressed according to the season, someone's whim, or a holiday.  They even created a shark to "swallow" the surfer statue a couple years back.  (a little local fun)
For those of you who would like to start your Saturday a little later, just meet us by or a little before 11AM at the BEACH HOUSE RESTAURANT so we can get all of us parked together.  The Valet attendant is very willing to work with our group, but will have to take into consideration other restaurant guests' needs also.  We will pay the Valet for "parking" us even though we will do our own parking.
We will be seated next to large windows that will be opened to the breeze and sound of the surf, with the ocean right out on the edge of the patio.  The restaurant offers a full bar, and you can choose something as simple as an appetizer or a full lunch.  (The cioppino is really good!)
SOME OF YOU HAVE EXPRESSED INTEREST IN GOING INTO CARLSBAD AFTER LUNCH TO DRIVE THE K-1 SPEED GO CARTS.  Individual drivers can buy a 14 lap run for $20.  If we get a group of 8 or more, a group deal is available.  That offers 14 qualifying laps, then 16 competition laps, with medals handed out by K-1 Carts, with this package costing $45 per person.  Please let me know ASAP of your interest in the go-carts so we can determine whether enough of you want to do a group of 8 or more, or just the individual races.  Those of you who want to go the the K1-Speed Go Carts in Carlsbad, THE ADDRESS IS: 6212 Corte Del Abeto, Carlsbad (click for map)... right across from the Palomar Airport Road.
Those who aren't interested in the go-cart racing can either hang out at the Beach House Restaurant and enjoy the sound of the waves and cool drinks there, or drive into some of the little beach towns.   It's always fun to park and walk around the Cedros Design District nearby.  (I'll have maps available at the restaurant)

NEW INFORMATION!  CHECK THIS OUT!
SEDONA, ARIZONA
WITH THE ARIZONA VIPER CLUB

October 21 -23 (Friday thru Sunday)

The Talking Stick Resort, in beautiful Scottsdale, has a casino and spa to make your stay even more fun.  This is a new hotel/casino and the rooms are luxurious.  This place alone would make a fun destination, and added to the Sedona Viper cruise, it all makes for a real fun time for all.

Friday morning, October 21, our club will caravan to Arizona.   We will be staying at the beautiful, new (please click this link)Talking Stick Casino and Resort in Scottsdale..

Click here for route map and meet points
The OC guys will meet at 7:45 and leave promptly at 8:00.
The Valley guys will meet at 7:00 and leave promptly at 7:15
The SD guys will meet at 7:45 and leave promptly at 8:00
We will all meet in San Bernadino at 9:00 and leave as soon as all 3 groups arrive.
Our target is to get to Palm Desert at 10:00 to pick up the Desert guys.

Friday evening we will meet the Arizona Club at the famous PINNACLE PEAK PATIO STEAKHOUSE in Scottsdale.  This place is famous for its "no necktie policy" and boasts a collection hanging from their rafters of around a million ties cut from unsuspecting diners over the past 47 years.  This has always been "the place to go to" when visiting the Scottsdale area.  The Arizona Club has made special arrangements for our two Clubs to enjoy dinner together at 6:30.  Dinner will consist of salad, BBQ steak, chicken, baked potato, beans and dessert.   ****Please let us know if you would like a vegetarian meal ****

Saturday morning, the Arizona club will meet us at our hotel at 7:30AM and at 8:00 we will all leave for a day cruise to Sedona.  Since Sedona is a busy LITTLE town and parking is always a challenge, they have arranged for lunch at SLIDE ROCK STATE PARK, catered by Red Rock BBQ.   (veggie burgers are on the menu also)  The Park offers a 0.3 mile trail of moderate difficulty if anyone is interested in a short hike.

After lunch you are free to enjoy Sedona on your own.  There's hiking, shopping, art galleries, etc.  BRING YOUR CAMERAS!  This is truly a magnificent and unique piece of the world to enjoy.
                                                 >u

We will return home on Sunday.  Room reservations to be made for Friday & Saturday nights for this event.
<17

We have sold out our room blocks. Unfortunately the room inventory is getting very low, so they are not going to block any more rooms for us.     If you want to go, please send me an email ASAP and I will call and see if I can arrange a room at a slightly reduced rate.   I was able to get 3 rooms at $159.00/night but with each passing day that price will go up. OR you can call the hotel direct and see if they have any specials available   866-877-9897  but the last I heard was that the rooms were over $200.00/night.

We are going to PREPAY our Dinner and Lunch for a combined cost of $65.00 per person.    Please note that this also covers the parking fee at Slide Rock Park   THE DEADLINE TO PREPAY IS OCTOBER 14th !!!

This year we are proud to sponsor the Orangewood Children's Foundation http://orangewoodfoundation.org/  This Foundation provides support to the many unfortunate kids that have been removed from their homes due to various conditions like abuse, neglect and abandonment.  We are going to specifically target the older kids (14 - 18 years old) in the home, since they are often overlooked during the Holidays.

Our hope is that each Couple that attends the Holiday Party finds it in their heart to donate one gift suitable for a young adult.  For ideas, please visit: http://orangewoodfoundation.org/docs/2011_OCF_Holiday_Wish_List.pdf

A DAY AT THE RACES @
SANTA ANITA RACETRACK

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2011
THERE HAVE BEEN SOME TIME CHANGES!  PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AND CHECK TOWARDS END OF IT FOR MEETING SPOTS & TIME

>g

Come enjoy a day at the races at the beautiful Santa Anita Park.  Our Vipers will be parked in the infield to be seen and enjoyed by all of the spectators.  Some photos of the winning horses will be staged with the Vipers showcased as their background!  Exciting horses, exciting cars... what more could we ask for?  (good weather, is all!)

The cost is reasonable: $30 per person, which includes the ticket to get into the races, admission program, the exclusive parking, and a 2 hour long "Great American Barbeque" buffet with an extensive menu:  Beef Brisket, Hawaiian Chicken, Jumbo Hot Dogs, vegetables, an assortment of salads, dinner rolls and cornbread, not to mention the sodas & bottled water, and cookies & brownies.  And who knows?  You might just have a good day betting on the ponies!

The Park would like us to arrive at10:30 am so we can be parked and settled before the day of races is well underway.  WE WILL ALL MEET AT THE SANTA ANITA FASHION PARK MALL at 10:00AM by the DAVE & BUSTERS and will depart for the races at 10:15AM.  Please don't be late as we need to arrive as a group!

The Santa Anita Racetrack is located 14 mi. N.E. of downtown Los Angeles. Please click HERE for map to Fashion Mall and the racetrack.

Come out and enjoy "A Day at the Races" with fellow Viper owners, and support the Club as we begin another great year of events & cruises!
The buffet will be served between 12-2 PM.  The first race is at 12:30.  They want us to bet, so there will be access to the betting areas, etc.

Come on, Viper-Owners, sign up and support the club in this fun event! ^2

For this event, please send your check for $30 per person payable to SoCal Viper Club to Treasurer at 35234 Quartz St., Yucaipa, CA 92399.

For anyone in the OC that wants to cruise up to Santa Anita together, I'll be at Spaghettini's off the 405 fwy and Seal Beach Blvd at 8:45 and will leave shortly after 9:00.

San Diego area group:  We will meet at 7:30AM at the Park & Ride on I-15 and hwy 76 and leaving at 7:45 AM sharp!  Timing is critical on this and we can't wait for anyone.  It is about an hour & 45 min to 2 hour drive.

I spoke with the organizers at Santa Anita today and got some clarification on our event Saturday.

It is important that we all meet on time at the Santa Anita Fashion Park Mall at 10:00 am.
Each Family/car will be given a gate pass and park admittance ticket.  These will be distributed at Santa Anita Fashion Park Mall !!!  If you do not have one of these tickets, you will not be allowed to enter the Infield parking area.

We will be led into the infield PRIOR to the General Public being allowed into the park.  If you want to park in the infield with your Viper, you HAVE to enter in with the group.  Once the group has been led into the infield, the tunnel will be closed.  If you arrive late, you will have to park in the general parking lot outside.

Family vehicles will not be allowed inside the infield either.  If you are driving a Family car, you will still meet the the SoCal Vipers group at Fashion Mall where we will distribute the Parking/Admission tickets.  Family cars will use the parking ticket to park for free in the outer lot.  Vipers will be escorted through the tunnel into the infield.

Our Vipers will not be allowed to exit the infield until shortly after the last horse race is run, which is around 4:45.   If you plan on leaving early, please park in the outer lot.

Lance

SUPERCAR SUNDAY, San Fernando Valley, Sunday, October 17th

We will meet at the car show at 8AM.  If you'd like, you can have breakfast at the Corner Baker, however, there will be a short cruise (about an hour) over Mulholland to Wood Ranch BBQ for an early lunch!   ^2

Scott Hirko will once again host this event, and the past two have drawn quite a few Vipers and everyone had a great time.  This show is full of just about every car you can imagine, some of which are very exotic and expensive. And this is no small show!

This year's event will be at the car show – which is in a new location – at the Westfield Promenade in front of the Corner Bakery at 6100 Topanga Canyon Blvd in San Fernando.  Scott has reserved space for Viper Parking – please plan to arrive by 8AM.  We'll have breakfast at the event.

When leaving the show area, please refrain from burnouts & racing.  We want to be welcome at this event in the future, and there are cops just watching for someone to ticket.

Please let us know if you plan to attend so Scott can arrange for the Viper parking and the lunch!

DYNO DAY at DC PERFORMANCE - Saturday, July 10th   =27

Dan Cragin of DC Performance has again agreed to sponsor the club by holding a "Dyno Day" and Open House at his shop.  DC will provide donuts and coffee in the morning and lunch around noon.  There will be a limit of  20 Viper owners who can sign up for this event and each will get 3 dyno pulls with a printout of their results for only $50.00 each (payable to DC Performance at time of Dyno pull).  Dan will then donate $25.00 for each car dyno'd to the So Cal Viper Club.  If we can get 20 people to come to the event and do the dyno pulls, we can put $500.00 into the club's general fund.

This event is for all members, so even if you don't dyno your car, come watch, eat and hang-out with the rest of us –
PLEASE R.S.V.P.! by clicking "Reply" and adding a post that you'll be there.

9AM - DYNOs WILL BEGIN AND WILL RUN THROUGH THE DAY UNTIL COMPLETE 2:30ish

HOT SUMMER NIGHTS - Friday, June 11

When~ Friday, June 11th from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm.   Three blocks of the downtown "Village Area" of Fallbrook will be closed to traffic.
MEET AT 4:00 PMat the Fallbrook High School parking lot on the N.W. Corner of Mission & Winterhaven and we will all drive in together.  WE WILL LEAVE THE MEETING SPOT AT 4:15 PM Click here for a map to the meeting spot.

What~ Hot Summer Nights is an old fashioned community event in the downtown "Village" area of Fallbrook.  This event will feature Sports Cars and Exotics.  Some of the other car club invitees will include the Cobra, Ferrari, Maserati and Porsche Clubs.  Cars are parked diagonally on the street for viewing and judging (not a Concours).   Trophies for Judges Choice, Best Sports Car and Best Club effort will be presented.  Recipients of the trophies will be asked to speak briefly about their cars and club.  Winning cars will be relocated to the center of the downtown area.

There will be club parking for each car club participating and I recommended that a parking coordinator be appointed for the club.  Have them contact me to be sure of where and how to park for your club.  There are no registration fees, etc.

Where~ Fallbrook is an out of the way town in No. San Diego County.   It is a lovely agrarian area most noted for avocados, that has maintained a Village atmosphere in the downtown area.  Fallbrook is a great venue for displaying cars on the street.  The village/downtown area is like going back in time fifty years ago in CA.  The village area is older but beautifully preserved stores and shops in a very relaxed atmosphere.  You can't really see or enjoy this kind of event anywhere else!  Try to get there by 5:00 if you can but you will get parked in fine fashion if you arrive later.  (see attached map).
Amenities~ Food vendors will be serving food plus several nice restaurants will be open in the downtown area.  In the center of all this is the Village Square where wine, beer and soft drinks can be purchased.

There will be live music by LastOneDone in the Village Square during the entire event!

Please click below attachment for event map.

Click here for map of Fallbrook

There are food vendors at this event, as well as some good restaurants within walking distance.  Since this event has a short time frame, no formal plans for dinner are being made.

Please let us know if you are attending so that Richard can arrange for adequate club parking.  >5
