Matt,
It's too bad you met the resistance with the VOA in making a change in your region. Keep in mind the people that are in charge just moved from the old club to the new club so.....
They didn't make changes in that region before when they where part of the VCA for what almost 10 years, now that they are the VOA you would expect that they would recognize the need for change there but maybe some things don't change.

I definitely understand where the VOA leadership is coming from but the situation in NV is a very unique situation and is gamed in favor of the person causing the problems such that it can not be resolved without outside help. The group I was helping was operating under the impression that if we did certain things the VOA would recognize the new group as the NV region. However, the VOA chose not to do that and to go with the existing, problematic, leader. I understand and completely sympathize with their desire to take the path of least resistance, I have done the same and remained in the SoCal region.

Eventually, those running the VOA will probably have to do something or continue to live with a dead region with only a few (literally) members that are active and a person in charge of the region who is only president for the title and whatever perks he can pull out of it.

As both you and Kala can probably surmise, there is quite a lot more to the NV story and to why I have the impression of the VOA leadership I do. I'm more than happy to bore you with the details the next time I'm down there for an event!  :P

Kala -

Their region is pretty much dead because they guy in charge refuses to do anything but has the system rigged so he can not be removed. I've been helping a group of guys who want to rebuild the region and in doing so we've had direct dealings with the board of the VOA who have been, shall we say, less than impressive. If things had worked out, I was going to spend more time working with the NV region to get back on their feet. Nonetheless, I've renewed my membership in SoCal since, in my experience, it's by far the best Viper club there is.

Based on the dirt that's come out of the VCA and my recent experience with the board of the VOA dealing with the Nevada region, I'm thinking we should hold off and stay out of both clubs until things settle out some more.

Marcela and I had a blast at this event! We were still talking about how incredible the whole thing was when we pulled in our driveway at 10PM last night. From the epic turnout to the great hospitality shown to us by Motor Village LA to the royal treatment to the awesome Gen V on display at the La Auto Show it was a great day. This is what makes the SoCal region the best in the country - we have incredible people, incredible events and incredible support from the businesses around us! It's always worth the drive down from Vegas. We hope to see all you guys again soon.

Please add Matt and Marcela to the list.

I firmly believe had Nat'l been open to answering questions along with transparency, for the last several years, we wouldn't be at this cross road right now.

Moving forward we all have a lot of questions to ask.

Kala, that's exactly the point: had there been more transparency over the last decade or so we wouldn't be in this fix. Now, sadly, trust has been broken and lost between membership and the national officers and everything will be questioned by the members from here on out who will do it from a standpoint of distrust. The question is, has that distrust so severely infected the club that it is irretrievable?

Lance,
I'll meet you at Denny's at 5:18.

Damn, you guys are early birds. We'll be there some time after nine...save us a spot in the Gen V ride-along line!

Dan -

I'm not planning on tracking the IS-F so put Marcela and I in the "watching only" category. Although, we'll be bringing our helmets in the hope that we can get a ride-along in the Gen V to hold us over until ours arrives.

Also, please add Jay Woodard to the list - he'll be along as a guest of ours (with the stipulation that we get any Gen V ride-along he may get  >w).

Don't forget to remove the CATS, hehe  >v >s

I'll have to take a trip to Vegas to see it in person, I'll try not to drool on it.

Too much trouble with illegal exhaust, so I'm planning to leave the cats on this one.

Lemme know when you're in Vegas...of course, we'll be bringing the car to SoCal events too.

Nice <1  What's the ETA ?

They told me late Jan to early Feb. I'm figuring middle of February and hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised. Been without a car since May so I'm itching to get it.

Nice combo Matt.  I think your decision might be a bit more difficult now that you've seen the Black-Grey combo.

Originally, I was leaning towards black/gunmetal then gunmetal/black but now I'm almost sure it'll be black/gunmetal (assuming the dealer comes through with the deal they promised).

Just saw this pic tweeted below. I'm going to try and get down to the convention center tomorrow to get better shots of it. Don't know how I missed this booth (StopTech) the first time around...
