Title: Drifting / Car Control at Willow Springs
Post by: PCH VIPER on November 12, 2012, 09:35:20 PM
CAR CONTROL/DRIFTING CLINIC - DECEMBER 8
AT THE BALCONY AT WILLOW SPRINGS
Car control is an important component of road-racing, both for cutting laptimes and recovering when you've over-driven a turn or face unexpected situations on track. Car control is also important in daily driving (especially when it rains in Southern California!). Speed Ventures' car control/drifting clinic is designed to build participants' comfort level with sliding and slip angles and to improve drivers' ability to manage their cars in high-yaw (i.e., oversteer) situations.

Space is VERY limited so register soon. The cost is $225 for a full day of instruction and practice.

Click to register for the Car Control/Drifting Clinic: http://www.speedventures.com/events/eventdetail.aspx?id=442. (http://www.speedventures.com/events/eventdetail.aspx?id=442.)

*Requirements: a helmet and your own car with a set of 3/4- to full-tread street tires (R-compounds will work but they won't last long). If you have multiple sets of wheels and old tires to burn, bring them. Drivers of FWD/AWD cars or cars with open-rear differentials should contact Aaron before signing up.

I received an email that said there are only five spots left!

Anyone have some old rear street tires that they don't want? 18 or 19 inch.

Hey Guys,

FYI,  Speed Ventures will also be running the "Big Track" at Willow Springs that weekend, so I plan to drive the big track with them.  Want some additional seat time at Willow before the Jan 5 & 6 Willow event with DC.

Cathy and I will come up and watch you guys burn up your tires!

Maybe have dinner that night at the local Mexican restaurant?

See you at the track,

The drift class was a blast! We found out that it's much harder than it looks but we started to take some baby drift steps.

I didn't want to puke on the skid pad, so I was heading for the bushes !  >w

Gotta say that this was a TON OF FUN.
You guys must have been wearing your Tanner Foust t-shirts cause you guys all caught on really fast and made it look so easy.  I struggled like crazy to keep my bearing and just could not get the throttle control right.

I felt like I was in a washing machine.

I was so dizzy, I couldn't walk straight, luckily Miss Amber was there to put her arm around me.   >r

I'm hoping that's all Miss Amber did!

All you guys looked really good drifting, though Lance looked a little "green" when I saw him sitting in his chair.

We need to put a "drifting" module in our Car Control Clinic this year.

Weather was great after it warmed up a bit.
