Track Events / All the open track time you can handle
December 28, 2013, 06:21:46 PM
Buttonwillow Raceway Park is hosting another open track day next Sat, Jan 4th.  I believe Ross Murray will be there.  Plenty of track time for the money.  Up to (8) 30 min sessions.

A few pics.  All the ones I took.  The Gen V was a monster on the track.  Very fast and agile.

Great day at the track.  Little chilly the first 8 am session, but it began to warm up from there.  Several Comp Coupes there, some SRT-10 coupes as well as an ACR-X.  Had the chance to instruct a gentleman in a new Gen V and all I can say is WOW!  The car is simply amazing on all levels.  The acceleration, braking and cornering ability is staggering.  If SRT ever makes an ACR edition of the Gen V, the other super cars  will be on notice.  Was preparing to out for my 4th session and as usual I always inspect the wheels as I set tire pressures and I found cracks on 5 spokes of my rim.  The centers were only 3 years old.  I would highly suggest checking the rims before each session, just in case.  Glad I caught  the issue before something unfortunate could have happened.

Looks like Jan 4 is an open test day again.  I'll be heading out to play once more.  Hope to see more Vipoers out there.   http://buttonwillowraceway.com/calendar-of-events/calendar-of-events-2014/

Anyone running with Speedventures this weekend?  There will be several Vipers out there as well as a new Gen V (Venom V from the VCA)  Weather looks good as well.

Sure thing Mike.  Have extensive amount of track time at Buttonwillow.  Send me a PM if you are going and I will see about getting out there to help you out.

Wow, what happened Jonathan?
Did you rebuild your existing engine or get a whole new one?
Looking forward to running with you and since you'll be breaking in your motor I'll finally be able to pass you!   ;)

The engine didn't grenade or anything, but the rings have started to give up the ghost. The engine is smoking more than normal and after the last outing to ACS earlier in the year, the car just doesn't have the zip it used to.  After 8 years as a race motor it is time to freshen it up and give it some new legs again.  :)

In my second session I started going faster but also started locking up the brakes again so I called it a day.
I'm going to have Dan put in a proportioning valve and see if that helps. Maybe I should look for an ABS car. >m

Ben, I wonder why you are locking up the brakes so much?  My car does have a prop valve, but my previous 97 GTS track car with the Stop Tech set up you have did not.  Something is definitely going on with your brake set up to lock them up all the time or..........you are simply standing on the brakes as if you had ABS.  Did you activate the ABS on your previous track cars very often?

Nice vid Mike. Now it kinda looks like the Vette could be at fault.  She wasn't in the driver's meeting as per Aaron, so she wouldn't have know about not passing in the kink.  It looks like she may have forced the Nascar left as she passed and he then tried to get back to the right and lost it.  Had she not passed in the kink, there would have been no issues. Sent you a PM.

Great day at the track yesterday.  First time back in 6 years and it was more challenging then I remember.  Lots of fast cars in the Red group.  All of the Vipers represented well.  The weather was perfect.  Still can't seem to keep the car flat out into turns 1 & 2.  The car is capable, the driver is not at this point. I do believe Mike had a personal best time yesterday, but I will let him share the good news. :)
