Title: Speed Ventures at Willow Springs January 26 & 27, 2008
Post by: ViperX on December 13, 2007, 04:06:17 PM
Hey Gang,

I thought it might be fun to get a little practice in before Viper days comes to Buttonwillow in February.

Speed Ventures is scheduled to be at Willow Springs the last weekend of January 2008.

I ran with this group at Ontario Motor Speedway a couple of weekends ago and found them to be a good group.

Passengers are allowed and prices were very reasonable.

Cathy and I plan to attend.  Anyone else interested?

For more info see their website at:  www.speedventures.com

Hope to some of you there.

Big track is 26th and 27th of January.

Hopefully I'll be able to get out there to at least watch.

OGO,

They just added the big track to their website at my request.

Woodhouse is having a sale on poly motor mounts - just $199 for the holidays - so I have a set coming for the GTS.

Don't care to drive "The Streets" in a Viper.

Hope to see you, Lance and some others there too.

Cool,

I just ordered some "speed bleeders" for the GTS.  These look like they could be extremely useful when bleeding the brakes, specially at the track.  They use an internal check valve and allow one person brake bleeding!!!

Let us know how it works, and where to get it.

I've got to find some time to do the prep work on mine...anti-toe brackets, PS pulley   >2

David Green recommended the speed bleeders to me last year and I'm just now getting around to doing them.

I'll let you know what I think of them.

I boiled my brake fluid at Buttonwillow a few weekends ago ( I should have changed it before I went but didnt').  The speed bleeders should make bleeding the brakes it easier and quicker - maybe I'll do it next time!

I'm also considering a front brake cooling duct kit from Parts Rack - which should help on hot days.

Dan,  hope you and Cathy had a great holiday season.  I'm plannng on going the Saturday, unfortunatley on a flight to Houston that Sunday.  Did Santa get you a 2-3 cars trailer?? If so, can you take my car??  Got an new '08 hood, and new bumper (so I can do the stripes correctly).  Should be done next week.  Heading to Detroit next weekend so I can't go to B-willow.  See you on the 19th at PAG, or see you guys the night of the 26th @ Willow.  Mike

Hey Mike,

I remeber those days ..... flying all over like a madman.  Glad you can make Saturday - turn out should be light with plenty of track time.

We'll be at Barrett Jackon on the 18, 19 & 20th.

See you at Willow Springs.

A friend of mine with a highly modded Mustang Shelby GT 500 is planning to drive plus some others who arent' driving.

Let's hope for good weather.

See you there.

Hey Ben,

I think I'm in the Blue group.  I didn't want to be in the first group out - too cold at Willow in January, early AM.

Let's hope that the weather changes.  Looks like rain right now.  Rain and slicks don't go well together.

If it rains, I'll likely not run and try to get into the Nasa Event coming up in early Feb.

Dan,  is this event rain or shine?  This morning's weather continues to show rain/snow Mike

Hey Mike, Ben, David, Steve, Eddie, Art and others that may be planning on attending.

Yes, the event is run rain of shine.

I cancelled Monday as I cannot see trying to drive in 40 degrees and rain with shaved tires or slicks.  Tires won't get warm and the track will be very slippery.  All in all it could make for a cold, wet, nasty day - never mind the potential for going off track.  I really wanted to run this one as Viper Days is coming and I need the practice.  Also, I am having Terry Rossi do a track alighnment on my GTS this week including corner weight, camber and toe adjustments.

If you are running street tires, you could be OK, just be careful.

I did find another event held at WS on Feb 9 & 10 by NASA that I just signed up for.  This is the one that Manny, Jonathan, John Dearing and other Vipers race in - so we could watch them race.  They also have time trials and a HPDE driving sessions for us.  Pricing is very reasonalbe and instructors are available.  I posted it in the track section.

Let's hope for better weather in the future.

Dan

PS  For those of you going to Viper Days, you need to sign up now as the host hotel is getting low on rooms.
