We've had good luck with TJ Wallace for clear bras.

TJ's phone number is 714-350-6070.

I used the teflon coated clear bra on my ACR and it cleans up very easily compared to the regular clear bra.

Good luck,

not sure if i will run yet or not.... but saturday me and my sister will be there for sure. and my uncle got word about this also and he may come out as well...

got a question about some 4pt. harnesses.... looking to get one only for the drive side for when i do the track events.

i have a credit of 150 bucks for this place and id like to cash in on it, and put it towards something use full...

here is the link the the ones im looking at....  http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=EM&Category_Code=SPARCO-HARNESS (http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=EM&Category_Code=SPARCO-HARNESS)

my question is what will i need to be able to bolt up the 4pt. hardness up and go?

Hey Derek,

Get the six points.

Our SRT Vipers are set up for six points.  Installation is pretty straight forward.  You will want belts that accommodate a HANS device.

Also, most track outfits don't allow 4 points or will want to inspect them every time you attend an event.

Crow makes good harnesses locally.

I have Team Tech's in my ACR though might not buy these again - a bit spendy.

Subie Sports in Huntington Beach has some belts too.

See you at the track,

Dan  <2

I have a 2005 with no mods at all, i'm wondering about the oil starvation issue with this long sweeping turn. what are you're thoughts on it?

Unless you are really haulin' butt on sticky tires and run a quart or two low on oil, you should be fine.

I'd add an extra quart of oil at the track and check your oil between runs.  Make sure you stay above the "full" line.

No...I was just yanking Buck's chain  >w  that his price should be "installed".

I have done the Gen 2 pans, but have never done the Gen 3 swing arm.  Is there a lot involved with it?
I can't imagine it being too terribly difficult.   I get the feeling that Buck is going to volunteer me for the job since he doesn't want to get his white t-shirt dirty.

Installation is real straight forward.  You will need a torque wrench and some deep sockets along with a few other regular tools.  You will also want to apply some RTV to the corners of the oil pan gasket which is normally re-useable.

Add a new oil filter and some fresh oil and you're done!

Sounds very much like the gen 2 pan install.

So easy even Buck can do it !   >l

Dan,

Sorry I can't make this one either. NASA is running the same weekend at WSIR. I'm leading in points for both TT3 and ST3, and planning on going to Nationals this year. So I have to stay focused there for now. Hopefully there will be some non-overlapping events soon.

Hey Mike. I just signed up per Aaron's email.  I'll turn up the wick on the flames for your camera this time.  Haven't run ACS is about 7 years, so I will be on a learning curve this time.  What time is everyone showing up to the track? Save me a spot in the pits Mike as I will be driving down early that morning.

Dan, sorry to hear this.  As Ben said Aaron got me and Jonathan in yesterday by agreeing to instruct, which I was going to volunteer for anyway.

Not sure 1 more red is going to make a difference, give him a call.  Weather looks good for Saturday, mid-80's.  sunday has a decent chance for rain.  Hope to see you there  Mike

Great day at the track yesterday.  First time back in 6 years and it was more challenging then I remember.  Lots of fast cars in the Red group.  All of the Vipers represented well.  The weather was perfect.  Still can't seem to keep the car flat out into turns 1 & 2.  The car is capable, the driver is not at this point. I do believe Mike had a personal best time yesterday, but I will let him share the good news. :)

As Jonathan said it was a good day, track wasn't too crowded, temp only got to the  low 80's.  Along with the 2 of us Ben came for only a couple of sessions, Steve was there with Dan Cragin prepping his comp coupe, Johnny Yuma was there but had clutch problems.  Saw a guy with a ACR just like ViperX but didn't see where he was parked.  Couple of fast vett's, girl in a ZR-1 and Chuck from San Diego.  It's been over a year since I've been there, can't say I ran great but kept my foot in the throttle on the oval and managed a personal best of 1:51.3, hoping to get under 1:50 in the fall.

Ben, I met John Dearing, he says he has a very fast GTS race car w/ABS, told him be great for you and asked if he'd take your's in trade.

Jonathan, I looked over the video's and saw my best and better laps had me on the throttle to 50' from the Royal Purple sign.  I've got to sort through the video's and I'll post some later.  The link below is from the truck wreck with the girl in the vett.  Also, I looked up the fire we saw, giant wood plallet factory, burned to the ground!  Had a great time, thanks for the help, and the beer!  Mike

Nice vid Mike. Now it kinda looks like the Vette could be at fault.  She wasn't in the driver's meeting as per Aaron, so she wouldn't have know about not passing in the kink.  It looks like she may have forced the Nascar left as she passed and he then tried to get back to the right and lost it.  Had she not passed in the kink, there would have been no issues. Sent you a PM.

Matt, nice lap time and 165 is flying! That is awesome!  >v You are braver than me! I've only been up to 158, I chicken out and lift.

Mike, great lap times and video. It did look like she passed at the kink which is the only place they told us not to!

In my second session I started going faster but also started locking up the brakes again so I called it a day.
I'm going to have Dan put in a proportioning valve and see if that helps. Maybe I should look for an ABS car. >m

Ben, I wonder why you are locking up the brakes so much?  My car does have a prop valve, but my previous 97 GTS track car with the Stop Tech set up you have did not.  Something is definitely going on with your brake set up to lock them up all the time or..........you are simply standing on the brakes as if you had ABS.  Did you activate the ABS on your previous track cars very often?
Title: Re: Drive ACS Fontana May 4 & 5 with Speed Ventures
Post by: Banzai Ben on May 05, 2013, 11:16:29 PM
Jonathan,
I started tracking 11 years ago and it was always with ABS cars so I'm used to just standing on the brake pedal and I would activate the abs often or very little, depending on the track
I think it's probably a combination of me pressing too hard and maybe the brakes also need to be dialed in better, the prop valve and maybe different pads. Hopefully in time I'll get it to work for me otherwise I'll have to get an ABS equipped car!
Thanks.

Sounds like you guys had fun.  Glad no one got caught up in that crash.  Passing right there has always been sketchy.  I prefer to wait if the guy is going to race me out of the previous turn and just get him on the front straight.

Crazy video of the guy crashing in front of you Mike.  I had a couple of guys crash into each other right in front of me at Laguna Seca last year in the first session.  Same kind of deal where the driver's didn't seem to be paying attention to the cars around them.

Wish I could have driven with you guys, just too much other stuff going on....

Speed Ventures is doing a one day event - Saturday June 1 at Willow Springs.  Might do that one, weather permitting, as it would be a good tune up for Laguna Seca.

I do know I'm going faster than my ability.  I should slow down for safety but it is so addicting.  I said it before it's really all the car that's doing all the work.

You're doing really well, these Vipers are not easy to drive fast! They will bite you in the ass if you're not careful.
Take your time and have fun learning to drive it, I'm still trying to get the hang of it too, not easy.
