Bring your "A" game boys and girls! Vipers are the defending champions of this Auto-X event and we have the Corvette guys' trophy to prove it! We're not ready to give it back quite yet...we like keeping other peoples trophies...especially those who drive slower cars ;)

I'll be there for Fri and Sat only.
We need to have a good showing for this as we WILL be defending our bragging rights and the trophy for another year !
If you are planning on spending the night out there (highly recommended) as it is a beautiful weekend getaway,
I would make your reservations ASAP ! Room reservations can always be cancelled, but trying to get a room at a decent rate in their peak season will be expensive and difficult. Not to mention the fact that the Pro Tennis tournament is in town at the same time.
We tried to block rooms at the Fantasy Springs, but the group rate they were offering was higher than the online rate >1 Go figure.
For those that don't want to spend $200 + /night, the Clarion hotel is right next door and has given us a group rate of $129.00/night
Again, I STRONGLY suggest that reservations be made sooner than later.
One last note, we are trying to gauge interest in doing the Aerial Tram on Sunday. How many would want to do this versus doing a cruise on 74 back towards home and stopping for breakfast/lunch along the way?
<15 <17 Sat only.
Definately Saturday
I'm in for Saturday, not sure about Sunday. Laura will be with me too she is afraid of heights. >o
We are leaning towards a cruise on 74 heading back towards home and stopping for lunch somewhere along the way.
I cannot wait to race against Corvettes. <19
>8
Only saturday, will stay friday night...unless something changes....other than the crazy indian thing.
>l
anthony is in for sure!!! BTW THIS IS TENNIS WKND THERE WILL BE NO HOTELS THE LONGER YOU WAIT.
Count me and my dad in!
We will be out there Friday.
Any plans for a dinner meet up Friday night?
Also will the vipers and vettes have our own blocked out run for the morning?
Same as last march? 9-11? If I remember correctly.
<t Is there a schedule with times and days for which the events will occur on? >m
I am planning on being there Friday to Sunday.
Thanks Matthew
Hey Matthew,
A definitive schedule has yet to be set. We are waiting to see what the turnout will be for Friday and Sunday.
Saturday is pretty well set with the Auto-X Challenge in the morning and lunch at Las Casuelas.
There is a pretty good buffet in the Fantasy Springs which we could meet at for dinner on Friday.
Sunday will likely be a cruise on Hwy 74 with a lunch stop. But it will all be dependent on how many people we have out there for the entire weekend.
Okay that sounds terrifi <2
Thanks
Melissa & David are in! (Her quarterly slot fix.)
Friday & Saturday Nights
Have to drive out from the OC after work on the Friday. Be out there by 8:30pm
How about a NEW lunch place on Saturday???
Got any suggestions for lunch??
Is it okay for Mikey to run the autocross with his SRT4?
I vote for a different lunch place too, service was very slow last time.
Yikes I waited to make my hotel reservation, just booked now. The rooms are nearly gone! I had to pay $239 for a room! =17
Scott,
Try using Kayak.com and search Indio. I got a room for $179 but they are now showing $194.
May end up the same as yours after fees, though.

URGENT
I just booked fantasy springs on orbitz for $202.87
use code PREZ15 expires tomorrow on the 17th!
Eddie and Michelle are in for Friday and Saturday night the cruise sounds good to me. Lets make the times fast and keep your eye on the prize.
Please add Mikey to the list.
He will run with the non-Vipers in our SRT-4 Neon.
I'll be there! I plan on beating the champ, Banzai Ben, in a Smart Car!
Cool, looking forward to it Stig. <2
You're not bringing the GTS race car?
I just got the details worked out with the Corvette Club >v
We should plan on arriving as a group at the Fairgrounds at 8:30 am
We will have to complete our registration as soon as we arrive.
You MUST have your License and Insurance Card in order to register !!!!!!
I also suggest bringing your own helmets.
We have set up a SPECIAL deal: $60.00/Viper This will cover registration for Saturday's event AND 8 runs ! =27
This will get us more runs and also provide a nice donation to the Charity Fund. >r
The course will go hot at 9:00 am.
We will be competing against the Corvettes for the Trophy.....which we currently hold.
Rules:
The first pass is a reconnaissance lap and will not count.
Runs 2, 3, and 4 will count towards the team time from each side. So the pressure will be on to make a good pass in one of those 3 runs.
They will take your fastest time of the 3 runs and put that on the team score.
Once everyone has gotten through their first 4 runs, they will take the 5 fastest times from each team and get an average time for each team.
The Winner of the challenge will get the bragging rights and trophy for the next year. >v
In addition to this, the Vipers will have their own class and a trophy for the fastest time for the Sat / Sun.
All 8 runs will count and the fastest time will win. So who will prove to be the FASTEST Viper overall?
<2
We are not "buying" the first 2 hours as an exclusive run time for Vipers and Vettes......but they have agreed to setting up a special lane for Vipers to run in and will put our cars through at a rate of 2 to 1 over the general public lanes. So expect to see 2 vipers run, followed by 2 vettes, followed by a single general public car. We should be able to get all 8 runs in by noon. Main thing is that we all get our first 4 passes in for the challenge.
Please email me and let me know if you are coming so I can fill out the registration forms ahead of time and send them in by Weds. This will save YOU a bunch of time by not having to wait in line for them to input your information when you pay.
Laura and I will be there Friday night should be fun! Looking forward to getting away for few days.
Nino will be there.
me and my sister will be going up. my dad may sit this event out unless he can get a ride there with another viper....
gonna be my sisters first viper event and im sure she will love it. she is into fast things. she is a multi world champion motocross racer and bmx racer. So maybe a few of you faster guys could give her a good ride and show her what a viper can really do.
really looking forward to the event! already packed up and ready for the weekend! <2
Laura and I are heading up on Friday, anyone want to meet up?
Not going up Friday, but heading up Saturday morning...anyone want to meet up and caravan in?
>m I just figured out how to get my ACR on my trailer. But now I need to figure out the best way to strap it down it looks like the A arms is a good spot? I use to strap my Mustang from the wheels but it really scuffed them up. Does anybody have any advice? Is anybody coming down the 10 FWY around 4 o'clock in Ontario, I would like to car pool.
Matthew
My Girlfriend Paola and I are in. See you guys this weekend!

Matthew
Hey Matthew,
I wouldn't strap the A-arms.
If you look on the underside of the frame rails, there are elongated holes that you can put "j" hooks in.
THe rear ones are pretty easy to find, the front ones are right at the rear edge of the splitter.
>t Lance you are my hero, I see the four holes and that looks like the best place to tie the car down too. Should I kriss kross front and back straps?
Matthew
Yes. Criss cross both if possible and at least the front. This will keep the car from moving side to side. Be sure to leave the car in neutral. Setting the e-brake wouldn't hurt either.
No problem.... I made a mistake. Use "R" hooks, not "J" hooks.
See you out there.
Matthew,
I use axle straps and run them around two wheel spokes and then to the D-rings.
It's fast and easy but the other guys ways are probably more correct.
Mikey and I are leaving West LA around 2:00 tomorrow. Anyone else going out on the 10 fwy at that time?
If not we'll see whoever is there for dinner at 6:00.

This is what you are looking for. Very easy to tie down the car without putting stress on A-arms, wheels and possibly affecting alignment settings.
-Jonathan
I use R hooks too with a chain link premanently attached to them.
Helps with the ACR as it's pretty low.
Good luck,
Dan <2
Awesome time yesterday at the track! i had a blast and my sister did as well! only took a half lap around the track to put a big smile on her face and her going whoo hooo! >g
Wish i could have stayed longer and had lunch with everyone as well also but for those of you who don't know ive been in the process of looking to purchase a new bike. Ive been on the hunt for a great deal on a 2013 Yamaha Stryker!

Matthew, I have a set of r-hooks if youe need some. I bought them a few years ago and didn't use them as I strap over the wheels. Her's my email as I don't check this bord daily Mike

Awesome bike Derek, congrats! >v
By the way, I think you ran 3rd fastest Viper time so you helped us win the trophy again!
Dan was first, Fast Eddie second, you third, me fourth, and Anthony fifth.
I was disappointed in my performance but thanks to the rest of you guys we pulled off the win.
Great driving guys! >v
Awesome! That's great news Ben! Glad I was able to help pull off another win for the vipers!
And thanks glad u like the bike. Just took it out for a nice ride today. Lots of fun!
Hey Derek - great looking bike ... I like in stealth! I have a 20 year old Harley, we should go riding one day.
I am glad you came out. The Corvette guys are a fun bunch. Hopefully we can do a run one day with them.

I'm down to ride with ya sometime. Just lmk...
My family and I had a great time in Palm Springs!! I just thought I would let you guys know that the security guards do care about our cars. When I was loading my car Lisa from security said, you're going to either love me or hate me. She made me prove to her that was my car. After I prove her it was mine I had her spot me on the trailer. <1
Matthew
That is really awesome Matthew. I suggest you call or send a note to Fantasy Springs complimenting them on their security services. We will be back there again next year.
First off, I'd like to Thank all our members that went out to support this Charity Auto-x.
The Palm Springs Corvette Club Members put a ton of work and effort into this event and they always treat us as privileged guests. They are a class act and I'm so proud to show up with our members and represent our Club with so much mutual respect.
The big picture is that we are helping to support both the ALS Lou Gehrigs Disease and the Cathedral City Boys and Girls Club. >r
