It is Official !  The SRT Gala Unveiling of the Generation 5 Viper will be on April 4th in New York. The big party will be held at the Skylight SoHo from 6:00pm to Midnight.  The unveiling will be at 7:30pm.  
SRT has joined with the VCA on this event.  If you are a current VCA member, be sure to put your membership # on the registration !  VCA members will get first priority to the limited number of spots available for this event !

Do not delay in registering for this event.  It will sell out VERY fast !!

SRT is doing this as a charity event.  A donation of $100.00 per person and all proceeds will go to the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Childrens Benefit Fund
SRT has requested that all attendees be at least 18 years of age.

I have commenced with a self-inflicted blackout of looking for anything 2013 Viper related.  For now, I'll dream of being in NYC, April 4th with fellow enthusiasts.  Else I'll read about it after it's official, like I did in high school.  Airfare, accommodation and adult beverage funds are set aside.  Check.  And I have to say, major props to everyone who has seen the car, yet have maintained the mystery.

It will come down to leaving the wife and baby behind for a few days, which I'm already feeling really bad about.  I suppose I could tell her Ralph and the VCA are going to be welcoming a new infant.

All the final details have yet to be released BUT I took the time to talk directly with some very Key People  >v
and was able to get a confirmation on the April 4th date.  SRT is very committed to the VCA and I got a great feeling from talking with them.  If you are not a VCA Member, this would be a great reason to become one.  There will be a limited number of invitations going out for this SPECIAL event.   VCA Members will get the invitations first and I spoke with a great number of the regional Presidents at the meeting and all said they will have a strong showing of members going to NY.  The invitations will come directly from SRT.  I HIGHLY recommend that you RSVP the second you get the email.  When we went to the LA Gala  a few months back, it was filled up in less than 2 days and a great number of our members were not able to get in.

The tentative plan would be to fly in on April 3rd.
SRT Party on the 4th in the early evening.
VCA will likely organize something for us on the 5th.
NY auto show on the 6th.
Return home on the 7th to be home in time to look for Easter eggs and catch the rabbit that lives in Dan's Viper  >w
A host hotel is being worked on now and hopefully we'll get info on that very soon.

I'll be making our plane reservations now that I know that it is a go.

If you haven't noticed yet - our SRT Unveiling Invite states that the dress code is "New York Chic".  So I emailed Bobby Cerchione, our VCA Secretary, who also lives in the NY area, for a little help with this. For those of us that are ward-robed challenged, here's an article Bobby sent me regarding this very subject:


New Yorkers are fast passed and loud, while Los Angles residents are laid back and relaxed.  New Yorkers take cabs, the subways and trains to get to where they are going, while Los Angeles dwellers hop in their convertible and drive.  New York residents embody a style of classy chic, while Los Angeles civilians pull their looks from bohemian comfort.

The differing fashion trends and styles in New York and Los Angeles ultimately stem from the climate differences.  New Yorkers experience the harsh highs and lows of each season, whereas Los Angles dwellers thrive in warm sunny weather almost year round.

NYC chic is effortless sophistication, with fashionistas bundled up in enough layers to face the fickle elements. The city's style is made up of Wall Street business, Upper-West Side prep, Lower-East side hip, and various degrees of punk rock.  Black is the color of choice for these trendsetters from their heels and dresses to their fingernails.  New York style is everything but comfortable.

When constructing a NY chic look pair an embellished top with dark designer denim. It was a BEAUTIFUL day in Manhattan with lots of great sightseeing.
A whole bunch of us met up for lunch and then everyone converged on the Skylight SoHo for the unveiling party.
Most of you have already seen the new Gen V, but for us here in NY, we were waiting to see it in person.
All I can say is WOW !

There was an incredible electricity in the air as we all waited to see the Viper.
Truly an amazing evening and worth the trip back.

We watched the unveiling here at home on the webcam and were caught up in the excitement.  Well done presentation throughout the unveiling!  The interior is amazing, and the upgrades very interesting.  Kind of puts the car into a different class, out of the simple, hard core track type and into something more like the other high end sports cars.  I'm waiting to actually see one that someone owns and drives.

Good job Lance!  I also agree that the front picture you took is better than any professional shots I have seen.  You really captured the snake eyes look that the designers were going for.

I love the new car.  I hope to see one in LA sometime soon.  I'm looking forward to the day when I can afford one. 

I used to think the next step from a Viper would be a Ferrari or Aston Martin.  Now I think the next step up is a Gen V.  Seriously, what do the other cars have to offer over the Viper now besides excessive maintenance costs?

Having seen the car "up close and personal' at the unveiling and then again at the NY Auto show, I can tell you that as good as you may think it looks in pictures, it's much better in person......and that red is AWESOME in person.

SRT really upgraded the Viper into a world class sports car.   >v  Now, which ones do I have to sell to be able to afford a new one?

Also, FYI, VCA member orders will be given first priority, so if you aren't currently a member, you will want to join or renew your membership if a Gen V Viper is in your future.
