Return trip to So CalThe return trip from VOI for several will begin on Sunday – others plan to leave Monday (don't want to miss the races). It is suggested that if you'd like to caravan home with other members, post the day you're leaving on our local site to get a caravan going. Additionally, there is no formal/organized hotel for the return trip as members are leaving different days, and some want to stay at their favorite hotel on the strip – yeah...VEGAS baby.

Any idea when they will post the schedule of events for VOI-11 ?
Do we have group deal for the Aliante Hotel in Vegas?
We're working on a group rate at the Aliante for the caravan to VOI – but need to know how many members will commit to staying here – Please let us know if you plan to!
We're also planning to stop on the way home from VOI on Monday, staying in Las Vegas (location TBD) Monday evening and meet up with Viper Owners from AZ, NV and the east coast for dinner. Again, please let us know if you plan to stop with us in Vegas on the way home.
I'm in...
We're booked - both Scott P & Chris P.
Looking forward to it.
ScottP =27
Cheryl and I are already booked at the Grand America so we hope to see a lot more names. Comon gang, Art & Cynthia, Eddie & Gladys, Flying Hawaiian, Stephanie and Glenn, Ernie & Pat, lets sign up and do our blast in Vegas. =28
Mike & Cheryl <K <K <K <K <K <K <K
I'm already booked for the Grand America !
I'll be heading out with the group on Wed and staying at the Aliante
I'll most likely be heading back on Sunday, spending the night in Vegas and then get home on Monday.
I talked to Fast Eddie and he is already booked at the Grand America as well.
Hey Mike,
The A.R.T is already booked at the Little America and will be on the same game plan as the Flyin' Hawaiian and Fast Eddie.
This is going to be a blast!
Im all booked at the Grand America.
Just waiting on the group rates for Aliante.
I am booked as well
Cathy and I are booked too - Grand America.
Don't wait around on this you guys - Miller Motorsports Park is an awesome track and with World Challenge racing, Viper Days / NARRA and VOI 11 all going on at the same time, rooms will go fast.
Dan <2
Hey Dan,
Any word on how NARRA/Viper Days program is going to run? Will we get to drive MMP in our Vipers through the VOI registration costs or will we have to pay separate fees to NARRA for track time in our Vipers?
I reserved at Little America, only $79 for a courtside room.
Dan and Cathy, I will stay at the Alliante with the group on the way out but not on the return trip.
Thanks,
Ben
Hey Art,
Plans are not yet finalized.
I'm guessing, based upon discussions at the recent President's meeting in Scottsdale as follows:
There are normally two days full of events, likely Friday and Saturday with Sunday a race (watching) day. On Friday, it's likely that 1/2 of our VCA group will be doing either track or driving. FYI, the VCA normally keeps the regions together.
1 - VOI 11 will likely include a driving day with drags, 2 Autocross's and track time at MMP. The track time will likey involve having an instructor in the car with you and will likely be pretty controlled as a National VCA events normally are.
2 - NARRA will be there running their normal Viper Days event along with the ACRX Challenge and World Challenge. We will be able to sign up and run NARRA. Don't know if there's a test and tune day but there should be one.
I've suggested that the VCA make some pricing adjustments (discounts) for those of us that prefer to run NARRA as our "track event" and go to the entertainment / meals / non-driving events with our group. I'll let you know what is decided.
Personally, I'd prefer not to pay, for example, $650 for VOI 11 and $550 for NARA. This makes for a very pricey weekend.
3 - At VOI 11's non-driving day, there are normally day cruises and / or bus tours available for attendees who don't have their cars.
Hope this helps,
Dan <2
Please add Don and Debbie to the list !
They will join the caravan out on Wed, stay at the Aliante.
They will also be heading back on Sunday and spending the night in Vegas.
Okay I'm in! Lance talked me into it. I'll be staying at the little america. I'll bring up the rear with Art, Lance and crew in the caravan! My first VOI >v
Woohoo Hirko! You can meet up with me and Eddie R and head down to the rendezvous point in Ontario.
Booked the Grand America but will only be arriving late Thursday and leaving Sunday straight to LA. Anyone else going Thursday and back on Sunday?
Cathy & Dan,
Melissa & I are booked at the Grand America.
We'll be heading out with the gang from Ontario on Wednesday and staying at the Aliente.
We may follow Lance's leed wrt the trip home, and leave Sunday, not sure yet.
Dan, give me a call when you get a chance.
Thanks...
Gary
If I could swing staying over Sunday night and stopping in Vegas on Mon. I would do it too.
It would be really cool driving from SLC to Vegas with all the other caravans from the other regions.
Plus the fun time in Vegas with all the Vipers just like VOI-9.
Hey Guys,
Just some input for your consideration.
As you have heard, there won't be a Viper for 2011. It's very possible that there won't be a Viper in 2012 and if Viper's are made again, it would likely be 2013 ..... with that in mind, VOI may or may not come around again for a while (we all hope it will).
You many want to consider the opportunity you would be missing (to meet other Viper folks, the Viper caravan from SLC to Vegas, the gathering that evening, etc) if you didn't take the ONE extra day.
I know this will be an expensive event for all of us and we all have to deal with work, but please consider trying to take this extra day off if you can.
Dan
I totally agree with Dan on this one.
Check the VCA board. There will be a HUGE group from all over that will take part in the run from SLC to Vegas on Monday. It will no doubt be a great time.
I wonder if I can call in sick?
Eddie plus 1 will join the caravan please add us to the list we will stay Friday night in Vegas on Monday's return I do not know yet.

Dan & Cathy,
My Wife Nora and I will join the cruise to Vegas and stay @the Allante wednesday night and again the following Monday at a location TBD.

Cathy, thanks for your help today,

Hey Ron -
Welcome to the Club. What model Viper do you have? A lot of us go to Cars and Coffee, a weekly Saturday morning gathering of all types of cars at the Mazda (ex Ford) parking lot at the intersection of 5 and 405. You should be there no later than 7 am to get a parking spot. They serve Starbucks, donuts, etc.
Great group of people. Dan and Cathy (and Lance) have done an exceptional job with the Club. We have lots of track and non-track activities.
If you would like to try the track, there is a wonderful event coming up in Pahrump. Dan can give you the details.
Welcome to the Club Ron.
Make sure to read the thread entitled "Caravan to VOI 11" for complete caravan details leaving Wednesday, 9/29.
Hey Art,
So, what will you be driving to VOI 11?
Dan <2
If youre planning to leave Sunday, what time are you leaving?
Do you plan to stay to watch the World Challenge Season Finale o - nationally televised!
What about the Viper Cup race on Sunday - the new ACR-X series?
I'll probably stay to watch these before taking off for Vegas.
I have an 08 Roadster Black with White stripes that I picked up on New years eve. I'm in San Diego so the weekly meet is a little far but thanks for the heads up.
Thanks for the welcome >v

Dan and Cathy,
Ruth and I would not miss this one. We need to keep up our perfect attendance record. We have already booked our room at the Grand America.
We also plan on staying in Lost Wages on Wednesday and on Monday night on the way back.

We received an email last night - the VCA is getting close to opening up registration. This has been a ton of work for our VCA Officers as they are planning this massive event themselves.
As soon as registration is open - we'll email everyone ^2

Hey Mike,
Yes, you two are like Cathy and I. I take her
everywhere with me. It's easier to stay out of trouble that way.
Dan
Be sure and put my name on the list, However I will be flying solo since Laura will be taking care of the kids. >c
God willing, Joyce and I will definitely be there.

Hey Rick,

We have our reservations at the Grand America and the Cannery. We will be leaving from the Palm Springs area so we will be driving the backroads to Vegas and meet everyone at the Cannery on Wednesday. Then we will caravan to Salt Lake. We are not sure of our return plans yet.
Thank you Cathy for setting up the rooms at the Cannery. It looks like a fun place and a great price.
Ron and Patsy
Joyce & I will be leaving LA on 9/28 and staying in Vegas that night. Leaving for Salt Lake City from Vegas mid to late morning on 9/29. We're planning to leave Salt Lake City on 10/4 with a reverse iteinerary.
If anyone wants to join up in LA on 9/28 or Vegas on 9/29 to caravan just let us know.
Rick & Joyce Hollis
We will be driving from San Diego Wensday Sept. 29 with caravan, stay at Cannery Hotel North LV and continue next day to The Grand American Hotel in SLC. Checking out on Sunday Oct. 3 and driving to LV. Wondering if anyone else is and if we can join others driving back. We tentatively booked Cannery Hotel for Sunday Oct. 3 and continuing home to SD on Monday Oct. 4 or maybe go home from SLC to SD?!?!

Everything I have heard so far indicates this will be a super fun event. <m <m <m <m
Gladys and I are in. >v
Ken and Lena Alker registered! Will be CaraVipering with everyone on Wednesday and leaving with the Monday group. I reserved a room at the Cannery on the way in and Little America while there. Has anyone reserved a hotel for the way back yet for Monday night (where)?
NOTE: The room Ben got is probably the "Standard Courtyard" which is not shown in the VOI registration information and the salespeople don't seem to offer it. Cate (Cateryna) told me the Standard Courtyard rooms are unavailable for under $99 at this time, end of story, forget it, so I got the $109 "Deluxe Garden" as advertised. I then called back and Julene answered (manager) who gladly switched me to the Standard Courtyard room for $79 (no questions asked, no fuss); don't ask me, but it worked. They told me the only difference between the two is that the Standard is 350sqft while the Deluxe is 450sqft and the Deluxe opens into a hallway whereas the Standard opens to the outside.
Well, having driven from LA to SLC over the last several days to reposition an SUV into Park City, I thought I would give a viewpoint to the run. First of all, it is double separate freeways all the way. Drive to Las Vegas from West LA is 4.5 hours. Depending on traffic. Stayed in Vegas and saw the Cirque du Soleil "LOVE" Beatles show at the Mirage. A most excellent production, I would see it again tonight if I was there. All parking at all casinos and on the strip is free at all hotels.
The drive from Vegas to SLC is another animal. 7 hours, saw 7 Utah Highway Patrol, one with a white silver stripped Shelby GT mustang equiped with police radar electronics. A short stop at the Shelby American Museum and headquarters is an option at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on the way out of Vegas. Mesquite offers very reasonable rooms, $24.95 at the Virgin River Casino, there is also the Casa Blanca Casino, nice place. Mesquite is about 70 miles northeast of Vegas and would cut down the drive to SLC by probably 90 minutes. Virgin River Canyon run is all within Arizona 15 miles east of Mesquite and an excellent twisty. Saw no HW Patrol in Arizona, Virgin River Canyon has been know to have them occasionally, but it is so far out of the way, it is generally a great run.. St. George to SLC is beautiful, small towns, right through the center of the Great Basin National Park, absolutely no one there. Small towns offer fast food and gas, that is about it. Cedar City offers biggest choice of lunch, about 40 miles north of St. George. The rest of the way is a speed trap. I-15 south of Provo to SLC about 60 miles in length, exceeds LA traffic congestion. Leaving Vegas at 8:00 AM puts one, with a stop for gas and lunch, about 3 PM into this traffic congestion corridor, so just be aware of it. I would not think you could get from LV to SLC in under than 6 hours with stops and speed traps. If you are towing, then add a couple of hours, it is about 484 miles from Vegas. Weather was excellent.
Weather end of September is a little bit of a crap shoot around Provo to SLC area. Not infrequently is there a storm at that time (meaning snow), but it should be okay. Fall tree color changes should be still viewable, although a week or two past prime time.
An excellent run, the run from Vegas to SLC seemed about twice as long as LA to Vagas.
Hey Doc,
Thanks for all the information, now the only question that remains is...are you going to VOI XI? >v You should know that the caravan is in terrible need of a SSG Viper to represent.

I don't know yet, Arturo del Toro, that would be having the SSG too long in the sun and putting too many miles on it (hee hee)! I better check with the Flyin' Hawai'ian about driving that far. He is the Big Kahuna for long distance driving! I may come but would fly up. Also thinking about possiby having a lunch reception in Deer Valley at my home when the So Cal vipers drive to Park City. The drive to Park City is only 20 miles from SLC and is nice but it goes by fast. Not much to do on this drive except driving down main street, seeing the old mining town and western atmosphere. A better drive would be SLC to Evnaston Wyoming, about 90 miles both ways. Echo Canyon is a great road. Also, it is about 20 degrees colder in Park Cith, than in SLC. Hoping for some decent weather, but for an example, couple of years ago, the 2nd weekend in October had 8 inches of snow on the ground in Park City. Not sure how snakes do in snow but I would suspect it is a natural snake repellent! %n %o %s %n %o %w %f %o %r %v %i %p %e %r %s
In London today, Lisbon tomorrow, so far have not seen a viper anywhere!
Hey Doc,
A run to Deer Valley and lunch could be fun.
Keep us posted on your availability.
Dan
Hey Doc, If you decide to fly I would be honored to have you as my co-pilot on the run. Don't worry about putting too many miles on the SSG, once it reaches 10k miles I'll take it off your hands so that you can buy a SSG ACR =27.
Well Doc, that is one thing about ART, he has a lot of heart by offering to take the old SSG off your hands. Your SSG will make a great high school graduation gift for Grace.
Cheryl and I are officially registered for VOI 11 >g
Mike
Woohoo Uncle Mike, glad you and Auntie Cheryl finally registered, it's about time >v It is going to be a blast.
Regarding Grace's graduation gift, it's the right color since her birthstone is the emerald, now I just have to put a plan in action to make it a reality. In about 16 years Grace is going to be demanding point-bys from her other Uncles the "Slowin' Hawaiian" and the "Once Fast Eddie" =15 <2

What day is the official So Cal Viper VOI 11 cruise day? Thursday or Friday of the VOI 11? Park City is only about 24 miles east of SLC on I-80. Nice run, fall colors, not very far, and easy cruising. Need to know what day the Park City Run is.

We don't know - don't think the VCA has worked these details out yet. And most likely, it will be either Friday or Saturday.
As soon as we know <I - we'll definitely post it.
Add Stephanie and Glenn.
We will be towing and leaving on Tuesday to spend the night in

After VOI XI we will be continuing on to Idaho to visit family. <1
Anyone considering transporting their car to VOI? I'm interested in doing that and would like to combine with others to reduce the cost.
Ben,
I'll get you the info in the morning. There are a couple of guys transporting out of San Diego.
Cathy
Ben,
I have an open seat in case you don't book a round trip flight.
Hey Art,
I was about to ask around if someone wouldn't mind a passenger who will split the gas cost and driving.
If I transport then I'd like to ride with you.
Thanks.
Ben
Woohoo! We can ride in the carpool lane and dust Eddie and Lance >v
No car pool lanes afer leaving the LA Basin. And definitely not between St. George and Provo, Utah! There may be some in Vegas? Stop by Shelby AMerican at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and get me a shirt, XL
For anybody looking for a passenger, Albert will be joining us on this trip, so let me know if you have an open seat.
I've planned on having him ride with Drew, but school may interfere, so a back up plan is desirable.
Dan <2
I'll have a seat open starting in Vegas; Pam is flying out of Vegas on an assignment in Chicago, and will fly to VOI Fri.PM to join us. If he could get to Vegas somehow... maybe someone (even me) could pick him up at the airport Wed.PM and he could catch a ride with me from there. Paul
Hey gang, Randy Begin is in. Grand America.
Hemotox - there are carpool lanes on the 15 here in Vegas.
ViperX - same offer as Bad News made. We have two open seats (one in each Viper) from Las Vegas on.

Gang,
Here's the latest from VCA National Prez Chris Marshall:
"There will most definitely be tags on the tables for each region, and the security staff will make sure those stay in place too. We will have a seating chart and posting it in the "staging" area (where the bar will be) is a good idea. That way people know where they will be sitting - and also know that we will easily find out if they switched them."
This is in order to avoid the "bull rush" that can sometimes happen when the doors are opened for banquets.

I am looking for someone to buy around $300 of worth while merchandise for me. I have posters, banners, glasses, signage, etc. from almost every other VOI since 1995 ( I am only missing voi 7 and 8 as I wasn't able to attend those either). I can put together a good list of the things I am most interested in, but I wanted to find someone willing to do this first. I plan on meeting the caravan when you pass through Vegas on the way to and from VOI so I could give you cash on either end of the trip. Please email me at

I hope they put out the fires so the smoke/ash doesnt affect visibility and air quality. What were they blowing up out there?
Here are a couple of links to Current Utah Fires.
Interstate 70 Twitchell Fire (http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/home/50322962-76/fire-battling-firefighters-twitchell.html.csp)
Herriman Fire near SLC (http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/news/50317750-78/fire-homes-guard-monday.html.csp)
The Heriman fire is currently not contained, probably affecting I-15 travel south of the city center, but should be controlled in the next week.

Hey Guys,
If anybody is interested, Miller Motorsports Park is hosting an "open" track day on the west track on Thursday.
I'll be running the afternoon portion and it's a pretty good deal. $250 gets you an orientation "drive around" and three 25 minute sessions on the track without an instructor!!!! . There's a race car group and a street car group. I'm in the street car group.
The afternoon session starts at 1 pm with the track going cold at 5 pm. I was thinking that if some of you guys get into town around 2:30 or 3, you might want to come by and check it out. The west track is the same track we'll be running with instructors on our driving day at VOI.
For more info or to sign up go to: www.mmpschools.com/viper/
There are also some cool videos of the track on this website.
Dan
Dan,
Does this mean that the Thursday caravan from Las Vegas is looking to leave earlier? We'd probably have to leave by 6AM to get there early enough for some track time. I'm guessing alot of folks won't want to hit the track after driving the 15 for 6 hours. Since you're trailering I'm guessing you're driving to SLC on Wednesday to make it to the track Thursday afternoon.
BTW: what happened to the drag racing at VOI?
There is some good info regarding the driving events at MMP.
https://www.voi11.com/venue.htm (https://www.voi11.com/venue.htm)
Road course:
Helmets must be worn on the road course at all times.
There will be a few loaners on hand, however we recommend you bring your own to guarantee a better fit.
Helmets must be Snell 2000 or newer.
Seat belts must be worn at all times.
No passengers other than Bondurant Instructors allowed on the road course.
Remember long pants and closed toe shoes required at all driving events.
Karts :
Helmets, long pants and closed toe shoes
Auto-X:
Long pants and closed toe shoes. (Helmets in the past were not required)
Good post Lance. Bring your helmets gang.
Matt,
Cathy and I, and a few others, are "trailering" or cars and driving up (arriving in SLC) Wednesday.
I posted this in case others wanted to either drive up early and run Miller with us in an "uncoached" atmosphere or stop by on the way into SLC, check out the track and watch a few of us drive. There should be Viper owners we "talk" with on the VCA board (Mark Jorgenson, Bill Pemberton, etc.) driving and milling around Miller that day, so it should be fun for all.
Dan
Weather looks good.... mid 80's daytime high 50's night
Dan,
Thanks for the info, prez.
I'll be trailering up with you on Tuesday/Wednesday and I'm all signed up for the Thursday afternoon West track session.
Lookin forward to it!

Looks like Juan Valdez will be joining us at the track.

Hey Guys,
For those of us who have not had time to get some of our fluids changed (not me!) or other maintenance items taken care of before we left for VOI, FYI, Archer Racing will be on site at VOI to help us out with these and many other items as necessary.
Archer can do alignments, oil changes, supply and install radiator hoses, tires, wheels, clutches, transmissions and even engines, all on site at VOI!

Well, here's my deal. Full price, $795.00 plus $50.00 penalty for two days, no pro-rating of the event...... Seems like a lot to hang out with the viper club. Have to think about it. I understand the issue, never have they pro-rated the fees, so to do this for me is a precedent they did not want to visit. Not a problem.
EJ
Hey Doc,
I'll only charge you $94.99 to hang out with me ^8 If you want to ride shotgun on the cruise to Park City let me know. Check your PM.
Arturo delToro,
Grazie Mille, thanks for the offer..... I live in Park City so I may pass on the shotgun offer. It is about 25 minutes from the hotel, not very long, 23 miles, nice view of the leaves changing if it is not too late. Bring some jackets as the temperature will drop 10-20 degrees from SLC.
The "No Name Saloon" on Main Street for Buffalo Burgers and beer, across Main street is Bandits grill. At the main Park City Resort south west of town on the mountain, there is a Baja Cantina and a ton of parking, also the place for the mountain slides and Zip Cord run. "Zoom" at the bottom of Main Street is Robert Redford's restaurant, great ribs, burgers. There is also a Main Street Spaghetti Restaurant, a nicer place called Bistro 412, great mussels in a curry cream sauce.
Take 5th South west entrance to I-15 South to I-80 East stay on the left lanes of I-80 up through Parley's Canyon to past the Summit and take the Park City exit by the outlet Stores. 8 Miles into the city from there.
I may see you on the streets of PC, if I cross dress and Mrs. del Toro, can I sneak into the dinner?
Everyone should chip in and buy Lance some cowboy boots!
I'm so excited that I can't sleep!
Have a great time all Vipers and Viperettes! I will be with you in spirit!

Hey Doc, The Prince is spending quality time with his girls just like me. Big thanks to everyone who was in our caravan to SLC nobody got a ticket. Huge thanks goes out to Lance, Eddie, Ben, Gary and Justin for providing the radios that helped me go 1635 miles without a ticket.
When is VOI 12? I'm ready!
Thanks for all the Congrats! Wow - I still can't believe it's true and probably won't until I see the transport truck sitting in front of our house. YES I do believe we should have a welcome shower for the new baby on delivery day (yes Eric, on us) so all his SoCal Aunties & Uncles can shower him with detailing towels and Mobil 1 in lieu of diapers & formula...
Thanks for the garage offer Mike, but I do believe that 1HOTLOA belongs in the playpen with our other two kids...
Stephie <9 & my Cabana Boy Glennie <L
(Not to be confused with my "Bus Boys" Scottie & Cousin Mike)

VOI-11 ROCKED !!!!!!What a great time ! I probably only slept 10 hours the entire trip. Didn't want to miss anything and was way to excited to sleep anyhow.
Thank you Dan and Cathy for getting banners for our cars and bringing the club together for a great event !
A huge Thanks to Pam who did a great job coordinating our stay and awesome dinner at the Cannery.
I took well over a thousand pictures. Every night, I layed in bed and downloaded them to my computer and sorted through them.
The pictures are now processed and published on my site ! www.kouchicentral.com (http://www.kouchicentral.com)
Here are a handful of pictures from day one...

Ditto and a big thanks to you guys for blocking traffic, hanging back and what-not to make sure we all stuck together during the cruise and the drive home.
Top? We don't need not stinkin' top!
Way to go Jim... >t
And I bet he still had a cigar or two driving in that rain !
Lot of rain on the drive from SLC to Vegas, thats for sure. We were calling Jim Nannook. Quite a stunt, leaving your top at home.
Thanks everyone for a GREAT time >v
And thanks to Lance for dragging my lazy ass out of bed early enough to get on the front row for the panoramic pic. Yay
Good thing these cars stop quick too or Lance, Ken and I might have piled into the crazy lady cutting across the freeway in her SUV
Such a great experience! We're so glad we were able to attend this VOI! This club is amazing and such a great bunch of people. Thanks to Dan & Cathy for months of intense work to get this to all work out so smoothly for us all. And to Lance who kept us organized, helped all of us get where we should be, and when we were to be there. Plus his great photos! I can only hope to do my job as Event Coordinator half as well as has been done in the past. I have some BIG SHOES to fill to do my small part this next year.
Awesome trip and weekend! >g

Very cool Cousin Mike! Me, Eddie R, and Fast Eddie had to hunt the truck down for a photo op.
That was a blast we had a great time with you all. Dylan and I stoped in St. George and rented a house and a car, went to the Grand canyon, Zion and Hover dam we saw one viper and each place that was cool.
