Post by: admin on July 24, 2009, 10:24:13 AM
Ventura Area Run & Lunch

This event is put on by our awesome members, Glenn & Stephanie Izard!  >2 THANKS GUYS!

This run is through the Conejo Valley - Starting at Glenn & Stephanie's home in Thousand Oaks.  They're planing to have a Continental type breakfast for all, and planing to run some extra cool roads through the Filmore, Santa Paula and Ojai back country.

Lunch is at Bodee's.  Bodee's is a boutique restaurant that we overwhelmed last year  ^2 (Bodee's actually closes the restaurant down to outside patrons and it's for the Viper Club only!)  This year, the lunch will be a buffet menu which will consist of guacamole, chips & salsa, build your own kobe beef burgers with cheddar, grilled chicken breast sandwiches, ranch fries, mixed salad, non alcoholic beverages, cookies and brownies?  The cost will be $28.00 per person, which includes tax & gratuity. (Paid to the restaurant day of.)

Man, Looks like fun. I'll be working that weekend, most likely up in ojai.
<L
If I am, I'll be up on that stretch of the 33 hammering the motorcyclists. I'll keep an eye out for you guys, but in a good way. <1
If I can, I'll try and join the parade for a little bit, if you dont mind a CHP Cruiser mixin' in.

I'm back baby!

Count me in on this one.  This will be the first real event after the head/cam package.  DC Dyno day doesn't count since the car never left the shop ;)

And here I thought I'd have her back soon after dyno day...silly rabbit.  I'll do a write up and review on the whole thing soon.

It'll just be me for this one.

As for impressions so far, let me say that since the Vette is already supercharged, I am glad I went NA on this setup even though it cost more.

SV,

I just received a new ported and polished "lower" intake manifold for my 09 ACR from Arrow Racing.  Will likely install it this weekend.

Along with the headers, Corsa, K & N and Mopar race controller, this should put me just about 700 fwhp or about 570 rwhp on DC's dyno (depending on the day), 600 rwhp on Stack's dyno.

Pretty good for all stock internals and not having to crack open the engine.

Looking into playing with the "phasing" of the variable cam for a few more ponies.  Perhaps in the future .....

Also, found a very neat CF "close out panel" also from Arrow to keep the air coming into the front of the car going through the radiator to help with cooling on the track.

Anxious to see how it runs.

More power Dan?!  Damnit!  Whats it going to take for me to fend off you Gen 4s and your power mods?!  Don't make me bore and stroke this sucker!  ;)

In all seriousness, it is pretty darn impressive the power gains that can be had on a Gen 4 with just bolt ons and no real computer tuning (other than the race controller).  Would like to know the gains with that ported lower...looks like we'll need another dyno day soon. ;)  Does Arrow plan on a ported "upper"?  As for the CF close out panel, were you noticing temp issues on the track?

SV,

"Does Arrow plan on a ported "upper"?"

I'll take a few pics of the Gen IV intake - when you see what's inside, you'll understand.  All of the "business" is taken care of with the "lower" half of the intake manifold which contains the ports and "runners" - the upper is just a cover or plenum.

"As for the CF close out panel, were you noticing temp issues on the track?"

Myself, some but not so much, but many others are noticing high coolant and oil temps on the track with the ACR on warm days.  As you mod the Gen IV engine and make more power, the engine also makes more heat - as you will find out the first time you get your car to the track.  I think the Gen IV cooling system is a bit stretched as it was not improved from Gen III.  Perhaps I'll go with another type of oil cooler and maybe a bigger radiator eventually.  I've already gone to a 170 F t-stat, installed a spring in the upper hose and replaced about a gallon and a half of coolant with distilled water and "water wetter".

For now, I'll just drive around it.  I tend to be smoother than some and don't spin the engine to red line very often, if at all, but other drivers sometimes do.  These "stock" engines don't really like to live near red line and they make enough power (read torque) so that you don't need to go high rpms to be fast.

This is why we postponed the Ventura run till the early fall.  A lot of time and $ on our Silver Bullet is now packing 530 rwhp and and 570 torque  with no internal changes. Dynapack Dyno.  Anhtuan ( S.V. ) with what you have I am going to put you at the back of the pack with a ten minute handicap.  I'm the point man this year and the boss lady  told me I will be driving the 08 Coupe . (Some kinda Thelma and Louise convertible thing).  What is  wrong with this picture?  At least Scott  (My wing man) and I will get first eats!   ( Lance you get a front of the line pass  for all you do).
Come on you San Diego People buck up and come up North! (YOU CAN DO IT!)

Welcome to the board Kid Viper, well have muscle out your dad to preserve our spots at the front of the line.  Don't go soft on me Kid and go for the salad just because your new lady friend will be there, I expect you to put down at least 2 burgers and/ or chicken samiches!  By the way can the new girl make a mean samich?  Ask Fast Eddie why this is crucial >v. Hi Guys,
I will be showing up for this event. If I have something interesting to test drive (with the customer's permission of course!) I will do the drive. If not I will be in Ojai for the lunch!

Hey OG root,  Food was very good, I preferred last year's selection though.  The service that we experienced at my table was subpar, still waiting for my lemonade after 3 requests...maybe Cousin Mike drank it >m or maybe Justin did since they both looked very refreshed and hydrated.  It was good catching up with you and the Mrs.

Big thanks to Glenn and Steph for opening their home to us and wonderful run >v

Lance,  Sorry for drooling on your car >w. It is bad assss >s

A BIG THANKS to everyone who came out and supported us for this event!!!  We had a good time putting it together and hope you all had fun as well.  It was great meeting all the new people and we look forward to seeing them again soon!  >6

So you know, we received this note from the owner of Bodee's:

Dear Steph and Glenn,

Thank you for having your Viper Club event at BODEE'S today.  I hope everyone was happy with everything for the most part.  I appreciate your feedback and agree we were understaffed for this many people and could have used a few more bodies to improve your service!  I did speak with my chef about the burgers being too well done, again, I apologize for this.  I do realize how this occurred and it will not happen in the future.  I care very much and truly hope that the club had an overall pleasant experience with us.

Thank you again for coming to BODEE'S!

Sincerely,
Michele
=27

A  =14 and thanks also goes out to Lance for all of his help in gathering up folks!
Know that you are definitely "The King" in our book!  >s Congrats on your new beast!

Answer to quiz, it was Mike Greenberg.

When we got to Bodies, he asked me, "What took you, I'm already on my second beer!"

That's Michael.
