Awesome! I grew up in San Diego but have never been to Fleet Week. Actually, this is the weekend we're moving back down there. Count me in (+1 of course)!

The drive down can be fun and this is a fun event to attend.

Lot's of cars, car related stuff, shirts, products, etc.

Bring ear plugs if you have them as some of the race cars can be quite loud.

Weather is usually perfect.

Anyone working on "parade laps" for us ?
Title: Re: CORONADO SPEED FESTIVAL - SUNDAY Sept 27th

Hey Lance,

We got parade laps due to SRT being a sponsor.

They aren't sponsoring this year as last.....unfortunately.

Dan - I am going to miss the "not-so-parade" laps ..... it was more like a lead-follow.

Hey Dan - Any thoughts to doing the Cruise for Cure at the fairgrounds on Saturday and the Speedfest Sunday?

Hey Bruce,

Yes, part of the reason we are going to Coronado on Sunday.  We have a few members who wanted to go to Cruisin' for a Cure.

I'm not a big fan of the event (show up time is too early and it's a long day) but do support the cause.

Yes, after breakfast and the cruise to the base, we park together and then are on our own the entire day.

General Admission is the ticket.

Wraps up any time you want.

We normally walk around for a few hours in the morning checking out the cool cars, watch a couple of races, eat lunch and head home.

Last time at Coronado I let him grid the car, and he did, but pointing the wrong way. And he wasn't trying to be funny.

Dan, I am planning on meeting everyone at the Festival.  Can I get a corral pass from you when you get there?  If I need it before I go in, then I'll have to wait somewhere.  Or, if it's too much of a pain, I'll just go to Ruby's Diner.  Let me know what you think.

Thanks. On Saturday morning I earned timed pole(even faster than Malloy, a great guy). The clutch went, so my mechanic and Randy Begin, volunteer mechanic thrashed for 6 hours to rip the car apart and get it ready. Huge thanks Randy! He was smiling like a guy on a date with a supermodel. I missed the qualifying race Sat afternoon.

Sunday they started me at the back of the grid. It wasn't feeling quite right, but I was passing by the handful. It started clunking and sliding so I took it in, to find a broken side plate on the tranny, and a loose half shaft. My car is sprung at 2200 lbs/inch because of the downforce. On the huge surface transitions it was getting air, and having massive driveline loads when the slicks hit. That's racing.
