Current tire sizes on my '08 coupe are

275-35-ZR18  front
345-30-ZR19  rear

What are the maximum tires sizes possible on front and rear tires that won't rub against frame?

Will 345 25 ZR20 fit the rear wheels?

Finally got the DMV to approve the plates for the other snake.

HEMOTOX = Hemotoxin, viper envenamation or snake bite poisoning from a viper byte.  Viper poison breaks down blood productics (hemotoxin) causing shock and demise.

OPHITOX = Ophitoxin, or Ophitoxemia, is the general medical term for the clinical manifestations of snake bite envenamation or poisoning.

Other "TOX" option was "NEROTOX" or Cobra poisoning which differs from viper poison in that cobra poison is generally a neurotoxin, causing paralysis.  For some reason I didn't opt for "NEUROTX" or "NEROTOX".

Club Members,

We all are feeling a loss of our good friend OGO, Dave Cawthorne.  For a lot of us he was the first friend we had in the So Cal Viper Nest.  His passion was his Great Pumpkin Run every fall before the weather changed up into the San Jancinto Mtns.  This event was scheduled for October 24, 2009, but has been changed to have a day of remembrance of Dave and his family at Willow Springs.

The possibility of doing Dave's Run in early October is there.  I am sure Dave would approve, right PCH VIPER?  Last year I went on this run in May an had a blast.  I would suggest that we see what kind of interest there is in inagurating this Annual Run in Dave's Memory and hold it on October 3, 2009?

My Ford GT pals found an excellent place in Santa Ana where they make vinyl high quality removable meatball  white background circular black numbers that can be placed on and removed using soapy water.  Just ordered a set of 4  16" . Single or "0#" options available, multiple size diameters.  Could be a nice way to enhance the viper appearance.

Here is the web site

Well despite all the reassurances and positive comments on the future of the Viper, Nardelli is doing exactly as predicted.

Saw this in the Chicago Tribune Biz section this a.m.

Chrysler may sell off Viper
Amid slow sales, company to unload 'non-earning' assets
From Chicago Tribune news services
August 28, 2008

Chrysler LLC, selling assets to raise cash as U.S. sales slide, said Wednesday that it is considering the sale of its Dodge Viper sports-car business.

"We have been approached by third parties who are interested in exploring future possibilities" for the 600-horsepower, 10-cylinder car, Chief Executive Bob Nardelli said in a statement.

The Auburn Hills, Mich.-based company hired Lazard Ltd. as financial adviser to review options for the business.

Chrysler spokesman Todd Goyer declined to name the parties. He said the review is part of a move toward focusing on Dodge's core nameplates.

"Obviously, we want to ensure a strong future for the Viper," Goyer said. "But as we focus on the core business, we'll listen to people who have expressed interest."

He said the strategic review was for Viper alone, and added the company was simply reviewing options and there may be no transaction.

"My bet will be they will definitely be able to unload it," for a price of "maybe $100 million," said James Gillette, an automotive consultant at CSM Worldwide Inc. in Grand Rapids, Mich., who does asset valuations for customers.

Selling the Viper might help the third-largest U.S. automaker raise cash to help ride out a 23 percent decline in U.S. sales this year through July.

The closely held company sold $647 million in assets this year through May 28, according to a June presentation by owner Cerberus Capital Management LP.

Earlier this month, Chrysler Vice Chairman Tom LaSorda said the company has identified more than $1 billion in "non-earning" assets that it intends to sell to generate cash.

The Viper announcement comes as it rebuilds sales of the low-volume sports car. It is the company's most expensive vehicle, with prices starting at $88,125, and is hand-built at a Detroit plant slated to close by mid-2011.

U.S. sales of the Viper more than doubled, to 682, this year through July.

Although that already exceeded the 435 sold in all of 2007, it compares with more than 62,000 Chargers and 150,000 Rams sold this year. Annual Viper sales had reached 2,103 in 2003.

The nameplate may be past its prime given the small scale and niche focus, said Mike Jackson, director of North American vehicle forecasts for CSM Worldwide.

"Chrysler has some greater priorities to tend to," Jackson said. "The market has changed significantly. Competition within that premium luxury category only intensifies, and as a result, it really puts something like the Viper at a competitive disadvantage."

We had some excellent discussions at Coogie's on Sunday about the possibility of a So Cal Viper Weekend in Vegas around the 1st week of October??? This would depend on what VCA wants to do this year for a VOI, but the table I was at was nearly uniformly positive for a Club Weekend in Vegas, perhaps cooridnating with the Nevada and Arizona Clubs?  All this is simply way early in the discusison pre-planning period, and would depend heavily on what Dan and Cathy decide is feasible once they return from Phoenix VCA meeting this coming weekend. But if you are interested in exploring the possibility of a Vegas Viper Venue Weekend in the fall of 08, please comment.  If we get enough positive responses, may be will happen.   <m

Where is OGO???

General Viper Discussions / Viper Future
August 07, 2007, 11:17:47 AM
Got some disturbing information and some possible mis-interpretation that may be worthy of some discussion.

"Home Depot deposed CEO is now head of Dodge.  He has fired Wolfgang (only Viper advocate).

He spends NO money on anything he sees as frivolous, does not like "cars" and has no performance interests.

I think we may have seen the demise of the Viper."

From a fellow Viper owner in Atlanta with fairly good insider info.  I hope this is not indicative of a course direction change for Dodge?

ViperX you have any info on this?

Putting this up to see if there is interest in a cruise last weekend of September, early October or November to the San Bernadino Mountains, Oak Glen Apple Festival and the Palms to Pines Highway folage and the Cleveland Forest.  This could be a "3 DINER DAY" event.  Huell Howser did a very nice California's Gold on the mountain village of Oak Glen, east of Yucaipa.  Oak Glen is famous for their apples and Apple Festival.  It is high up in the San Bernadino Mtns with a nice drive.  Idea is this.  (see attached map)

Diner #1: Start out at Flo's Diner at the Chino Airport.  Meet and have breakfast with the usual Sausage and Bisquits.  Leave by caravan in groups to the 60 > N I-15 > the E I-10 to the Live Oak Canyon Road and on into Oak Glen for the Apple Festival.  Leave Oak Glen the back way back to Banning, take the east bound I-10 to Hwy 243 south. Pick up the "Pines to Palms Highway" (243) up the mountain through the fall folage into Idyllwild for lunch.

Diner # 2:  Arrive in Idyllwild and arrange for lunch at Julie's or one of the other diners in town.  Folage should be excellent this time of year and possibility of a storm remote. After Lunch, continue on Hwy 74 in the direction of Temecula.

Diner #3;  Cruise through Anza, take a few winnings from Cahuilla Creek Casino, and advantage of their free drink policy, and then on the desert coutry roads into Temecula for dinner at a well known diner in town.  Other option is to continue down to the Pala Casino and have dinner there.

Would probably be a good day's event.  Some excellent roads and spectacular scenery, etc.  I imagine the weather would also be perfect and the days not to short to allow everyone time to return home.  I think the Apple Festival in Oak Glen and the folage along the "Pines to Palms Hwy" are well worth a Mini event.

Lets see who is interested and if enough people are, then maybe we can get some planning done through the club.

http://www.oakglen.net/

Would not want this to be too close to the Club's Hearst Castle event on October 27 weekend, so maybe September 29, October 6 or November 10 are possibilities.   Wonder if racecars can arrange for a stop at the Charlie Brown Pumpkin Patch in Idyllwild maybe even incorporate this route as a modificatoin to the Great Pumpkin Run this year? >2

Comments are appreciated.

JUST BEEN NOTIFIED THAT THIS IS A HOAX! - However, "hands free" cell phone will be effective July 2008.

Subject: FW: New California Driving Rules / Effective July 1, 2007

Good information about new California driving laws. This was sent to me as a reminder that starting January 2007 we have new driving regulations, and I felt it was worth sharing. Please be aware of the costs involved!

1. Carpool lane - 1st time $1068.50 starting 1/1/07 (The $271 posted on the highway is old). Don't do it again because 2nd time is going to be double. 3rd time triple and 4th time license suspended.

2. Incorrect lane change $380. Don't cross the lane on solid lines or intersections

3 Block intersection - $485

4. Driving on the shoulder - $450

5. Cell phone use in the construction zone. - Double fine

6. Passengers over 18 not in their seatbelts - both passengers and drivers get tickets

7. Speeders can only drive 3 miles above the limit.

8. DUI = JAIL (Stays on your driving record for 10 years!)

9. As of 07/01/07 cell phone use must be "hands free" while driving.

Enjoy   :'( :'( :'(
