Anybody got a pair of Gen 3 or Gen 4 used OEM resonators/mufflers I can have?  There is an experiment with my crossover tubes I want to try.  Free would be great, but I can kick in a little money if you are willing to let them go for cheap.  Thanks!

Porsche Club Gimmick Rally
November 2nd, 2013

The San Gabriel Valley Porsche Club is inviting us to join in their Gimmick Rally on Sat. Nov. 2nd.  The Gimmick Rally will be a photo/trivia rally with locations around Los Angeles that are somehow related to automobiles, aviation or aerospace.  No particular knowledge will be required and this will not be a competitive rally with stopwatches and odometers.  You will be given a list of locations (there will be more locations than you have time for) and you pick which ones and as many as you want to hit in the time allotted.  Generally you will be expected to take a photo at each location.  Photos are shared at lunch when prizes are given out.

Drivers with and without navigators are welcome as well as junior navigators.

This sounds like a lot of fun and something we can participate in for fun.
Check out their website for more info:  http://rallya3.wordpress.com/

Registration is now open   http://rallya3.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/svgr-rally-registration.pdf
Early bird registration is October 11th and will gain you extra points. Registration closes on October 28th!

Cost is only $20.00

The event begins at the Petersen Automotive Museum.  Check-in begins at 7:30am and all cars will head out at  8:30am.  The finish will be at Golden Road Brewing in Glendale.  The finish should be around the 12:30pm lunch time.

This is not an official club event and is being posted as an event of interest.  Might be a good gathering for our members in the area.

Granatelli Motorsports is having a dyno day and car show at its facility in Oxnard (1000 Yarnell Place, Oxnard CA, 93033) on Saturday, March 9. The event is from 9am-4pm.

Their facebook page link with the full deatils:
https://www.facebook.com/events/128298160678866/?ref=22

Admission and registration for the car show is free! People who want to enter it just have to register with the class sponsors and have their car judged (by the class sponsors). The sponsors will also provide the prizes.

The classes they have are:

Best of Show – Sponsored by Scosche

Most Horsepower Force Inducted

Most Horsepower Naturally Aspirated

Best Engine Bay

Best Pre-75 Classic – Sponsored by Wilwood

Sleeper Award – Sponsored by Coast Driveline and Gear

Of course the most horsepower awards are for attendees who get on the dyno... But there will also be a "Best of Show". "Best of Show" is determined by a ballot that will be available until voting for "Best of Show" is up.

Along with "Best of Show", there will also be a winner of "J.R.'s Pick"... Which will be a vehicle that J.R. Granatelli picks as his personal best of show.

All awards will have trophies, or plaques, and prizes; either from the sponsoring vendors or from Granatelli Motor Sports.

Food will be on site, along with activities for kids.

Map and registration form for the dyno can be found in the facebook link at the top of this post.

Viper Tech and Service Day at Eddie's Shop!

January 19th Saturday

Our own Eddie Reinsma is graciously opening the doors of his shop, R and S Automotive, so the club can have its own private Viper Tech and Service Day.  You will get a chance to learn how your Viper works both under the hood and up on the rack.  Talk to fellow owners about mods, what works, what doesn't, and what you need.  Headers? Catch cans? Adjustable coil-overs? Heads and cam or supercharger?  Wanna hit the track? Learn what you need to do.  This is your chance for in-person discussions of all these things and more!

In addition, Eddie will also have service techs available for those who would like to get any work done on their cars.  If you want work done on your car you MUST be on the reserved sign-up list.  Space and time is limited so reserve your spot on this list early!  All pricing on parts will be cost +20% (tax is included).  PM Eddie for specific parts pricing.  You can also bring your own parts if you wish, but just be sure Eddie knows!

Services offered (pricing below is for Gen 4 and 3.  Gen 1 and 2 should be very close unless there is something very different in the servicing that Eddie does not know about.  PM Eddie if you want to be sure):

1. 4 way Alignments - $125

2. Tire balancing - $50

3. Tire mounting and balancing - $90 (includes tire waste fee).  You can bring tires in or Eddie can get them for $10.00 over cost plus mount and balance.  Please specify.

4. Complete fluid service includes oil and filter change, brake fluid flush, clutch fluid exchange, rear differential drain and fill with friction additive, transmission drain and fill, power steering flush, coolant exchange all Mopar parts - $550.00

All parts and fluids will be factory except the brake fluid.  Availble brake fluid choices will be ATE BF1 dot 4, ATE super blue racing fluid dot 4, or Motul 600.  Engine oil is MOBIL 1.  Coolant flushes use factory coolant and distilled water.

5. Oil and filter change - $130

6. Clutch Fluid - $30

7. Rear Differential service - $194

8. Transmission Fluid service - $104

9. Power Steering fluid flush and fill - $90

10. Coolant flush and fill - $107

11. Brake fluid flush and fill - $99

Any profits from the day are being donated to the club!

Date: Saturday, January 19th

Time: 9AM to 3PM

Eddie's shop: R and S Automotive 24773 Valley St., Newhall, CA 91321 (661)254-4589

Meetup Point (link)
Denny's (12861 Encinitas Avenue Sylmar 91342) at 8:30am (point A) and depart for Eddie's at 8:45am (point B).

Lunch can be provided for $10 and will include a foot long sub, chips, and a drink.  Please note if you want lunch and if so which sub you want: Black Forest Ham, Spicy Italian, Cold Cut Combo, or Turkey Breast.

If you are signing up AND you want service done on your car PLEASE specify what you need and if you will bring your own parts.  Without this info we WILL NOT be able to put your car on the services list.

I also want to make it clear that this is as much a social, hang out, learn something event as it is a day to get your car serviced.  In other words, even if you don't need to get your car serviced you can come out anyway and just hang out with us!  Just let us know so we can get a head count for space and food!

http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/24/only-about-5-of-chrysler-dealers-will-sell-srt-viper/

Will be interesting to see if more details about this come up during VOI.  Seems like the good news is that the Viper will get the special treatment that it deserves during the dealership visit.  The bad news is that there will be even fewer places qualified to sell and service the cars.  Glad we live in a major city!

Farewell to Dan and the team at DC Performance!

When I first bought my Viper, DC Performance was the first performance shop I took her to.  And since that time they have been the only performance shop that has worked on the car.  We have certainly been through a lot of mods together in the last few years!

I hope you all land on your feet and stay in the community!

All the best!

SOLD SOLD SOLD

Mopar cat-back mufflers made by Borla.  These are the same as the Borla mufflers expect that they say Mopar on them since Mopar had Borla re-brand it for them.

These are in new condition and have never been driven on the car.  However, these are ONLY the mufflers. No tips.  You will need to source your own tips or get a used set of tips off a Gen 4.  This set up will also have you getting rid of your cross over tubes.

The mufflers are about stock length at 34" and stock pipe diameters at 2.5".  This will allow you to bolt them right up to your stock exhaust.

Fits Gen 3/4 Vipers.
