Teenagers of today are stuck between Prii/Leaves, and $5 premium, not to mention always-on internet.  All significant barriers to a budding auto romance.  Bummer.

Sounds like walking up to a popular Vegas nightclub without any hot chicks in your arms.  Back of the line you go, buddy :'(

Thanks to everyone who made this possible.  Can't believe I forgot the SLR at home... utter FAIL.

It was really cool seeing the evolution of the Viper exterior (especially in B/W  <1).  In some lines, you can see both the Gen 2 and 3/4 occurring simultaneously, which I never noticed in magazines.  The shape flows very well.

Alot of detail here

Checking to make sure the wheelbase is 98.8in

Always have liked this angle

and a little PCH...

I'll talk to the lady that stands at the entrance/turn-in point (always forget her name), and give her a heads up about your planned arrival.  I don't think that will be a problem.  Mike and I are planning on getting there at 6am per Lance's recommendation.  Sent you a PM too.

Sounds great. We should be able to get there before 7. How early do you think I need to get there to make sure they don't turn us away at the turn in point? (That happened last time i tried to go... different car but ...)

Doc, Irvine it is!  When do you think you can make it?  I spoke with MFujita and he had a great idea.  I'll prob swing by his place en route, then head into the lot together.  We will save a spot in between our cars and fold out a couple lawn chairs until you arrive.  How does that sound?

Hoping some more snakes can make it out early too!

I was actually thinking Irvine. What time do you have to get there these days to be able to park in the main lot?

Thats exactly how I felt at the dealer btw!

Oops, it just dawned on me that you might be referring to Carlsbad CnC.  I could make my way down south as well- would just need to be home by 10:30am, which should be plenty of time.  Let me know, also a time and a place (if you prefer to cruise in together).

I bet this is how you felt at the dealership:

Doc, I just checked the weather, it looks clear.  I'm in Irvine, about 10 minutes north of CnC, so I can go off whatever your schedule is.  A fellow member nearby has an 06... paging MFujita...
Hmm, I'll probably leave the baby at home with Grandma, not sure how I'd be able to focus on him with a Launch Edition around <B

Sorry I didn't see all the responses earlier. Thanks guys.

Krafters, that would be cool to get some shots together. I might be able to get away for CnC this weekend. LMK if you are still planning to go.

Oh man, congrats!  We need to get together a 96, 06 First Ed and yours.  Blue and white mania.  Myself, the wife is out of town this upcoming weekend, I plan on swiping the baby seat and taking my 2 year old for a first run to Cars and Coffee Irvine.  Shhh...

I'm not sure if MB ever changed it's mind again, but at one point, they took back the ESP-M oil for their gasoline engines due to the ethanol in our gasoline:

As a reminder, to maintain the integrity of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), specification 229.51 oil must be used for Diesel engines. Mercedes-Benz recommends Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W40 for MY2007 and newer Mercedes-Benz Diesels.

"MB sheet 229.51 approved oils; low ash long life - Mercedes pioneered this new spec for passenger cars with diesel engines with EURO 4 or Bluetec exhaust particle filters and longer service life than the 229.31 oils. The spec was introduced in 2005. Change intervals increased to 20,000 kilometers. Based on ACEA A3 B4 and C3"

As a precautionary measure and in an effort to better protect Mercedes-Benz engines from the potential long term effects of the increased use of ethanol. DCAG has decided to differentiate the engine oils that are used for Gasoline and Diesel engines.

As such, Mercedes-Benz 229.5 0W40 engine oil must be used for all gasoline engines including AMG. Mercedes-Benz recommends the use of Mobil 1 0W40 for all gasoline engines including AMG, with the exception of the SLR. 0W40 engine oil is more effective in resisting the possible corrosive effects of acidic moisture that can be caused by the increased use of ethanol. The SLR requires specification 229.3, Mobil 1 5W50 oil. To maintain the integrity of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), specification 229.51 must be used for Diesel engines.

With that said, Amazon has the 0w-40, which I've seen widely recommended for Vipers, and what I have in the '96 GTS.  Thanks for the link, 12 quarts are on their way via free shipping to my house  <1

Pretty good price for the recommended oil for our 6.3 engines.

Thanks for all that was put into this project!  Man, this coin is just too beautiful to toss onto the floor when issuing a challenge.  Can we flash it instead?

Additionally, I'm seeking some clarification: if 6 of us meet up, and 2 have their coins while the other 4 do not, does that mean the 2 faithful receive 2 drinks a piece?

Lastly, what happens if a member forgets their challenge coin because they forgot it in their new Corvette?  You never know, it could happen.  >w

"Chevy CEO Akerson, expects the seventh-generation Corvette to not only be a showstopper, but one of the best-looking vehicles in history."

And by best looking, he must mean parking LEDs shaped like the Viper, front view reminiscent of a Ferrari FF, side view of a Nissan GT-R (cabin, side strakes, and at least they tweaked the c-pillar a little), and a camaro/transformers rear end.  Winning!
