We wouldn't want anybody stranded, it's for their safety.

Hi Robert,

Not to be rude to Vette guys, but this is a VIPER run.  If you're buddies would like to go on a Viper run, have them trade in their Corvettes and get Vipers - just like we did   <11

As for restaurant pricing: Burgers are $8.50, club sandwich $10.95 - most menu items are under $12  >q

MIke,  The pillow case looks awesome!  Make sure you put the milk back in the fridge  =26

Eddie,  Which Viper is Glady's driving?

Thanks Art.  The milk was to wash down my 2nd slice of anniversary carrot cake/cream cheese cake (coated in insane buttercream that is so good you feel instantly guilty).  The girls that made our wedding cake made a special one a year later so I didn't have to deal with the freezing nonsense.

You guys out in HB could give them a look for any custom cake needs.  Tom Girl Baking Company is actually located in that concession stand On the beach, opposite Twin Dolphins Drive.  Of course, if you pick a cake up in the Viper, for your sake, make sure you don't accelerate or corner too hard on the way home.  <B

"I know  5:15 am is a bit late....but I want to wash my truck, mow my lawn and take out the trash before I head out for the day to play.

Luckily I don't have to feed the chickens and milk the cows too !"

Yeah, you are lucky.  I've got to feed the darn chickens, milk the cows and detail two Vipers ..... so I'll be along later.

<2

No chickens and no cows here.  I'm pretty certain at 5:15am I'll be passed out on my handmade 488 thread count pillow.  This was my 1st anniversary present from the wifey!  Hmm, I wonder what is in store for the 2nd anniversary... maybe a matching comforter?

What a day.  I can't sleep.  I woke up this morning, and 2 minutes later, my phone rings.  My Mom tells me that my Grandfather stopped breathing and is unconscious in the ICU.  Later on in the day, I found out about Dave.

I can say I only met Dave in-person a handful of times, but even before the first time we met, I felt like I knew the guy.  I had started by reading some of his posts, then familiarized myself with the parts he sold.  Most importantly I gained a sense of his enthusiasm and fervor for sharing his hobby.  Then I got around to buying my dream car.

Within months, I called him to order up some highly recommended parts.  He spent a while on the phone with me even though he was taking the call from his cell phone (he was at the track) from a total stranger.  The more questions I asked the more eager he seemed to answer, over engines roaring in the background.  In February of 2008, the club was at Buttonwillow.  I sneaked away from my soon-to-be wife's family to go watch some Vipers.  Dave was walking in my direction, so I introduced myself.  Sure enough, he was the guy I envisioned.  Mellow and thoroughly enjoying himself, we chatted not only about the cars we loved but also about economics and history.  In many ways, he reminded me of my Grandpa, sharing wisdom with an ease that can only be gained through the years.  I am very happy with the short time in which our paths crossed.  Dave, my Grandpa is not up there yet, but when he joins you, show him what our cars are about!

Congrats on the car, and that is quite a low production run.  It was definitely Monday, after I was leaving Washington Mutual.  I was still in Taipei on January 7th.  Maybe someone in your fam found the keys?   >w

I picked up my '08 ACR on Wed, Jan 7 in Irvine, but I was not in that area on Monday.  Hmmm, is there another one locally?  Since this red/black color is not being made in '09 and the production numbers I saw showed only 74 being made in '08, I thought it would be unusual to see another one in the area.  Did you see it on a Monday, or perhaps it was me driving it home on Jan 7.

I saw a mean looking red/black ACR heading down Irvine Blvd (Tustin/Irvine) this past Monday, any chance that was you?

I would love to go but as usual I am running a college softball umpire clinic on that day.  I am dying to get my new '08 ACR (red/black) out on the road to play!!

Party at Dan's!

Make sure you get it clearbra'ed.  I have an appointment Friday morning to get the area behind the front and rear wheels taped.  The skidpad at the car control clinic wasn't the nicest to my baby... and that was at 25% of the speeds you race at!!!

Should be here this afternoon.

Car is in San Diego getting "verified" by a local Dodge dealer and smogged, then on my place.

Putting the GTS in the trailer shortly (no room for another car).

Point taken OGO.  With that, I'm offering SoCal members a new service... whenever anyone goes on extended vacations or has to leave town, I will offer my "Viper Tender" services free of charge.  Just let me know the span of days you will be away, and the max number of miles I have to work with.  The car battery will be as strong as before you left!

Dan, thanks for the always informative response.

Pete (not the most original name for a Viper, I know) is hooked up to a $65 Sears Diehard automatic charger at the moment.  At 10A, according to the 96 Viper service manual, it'll can take up to 16 hours to reach a full charge.  I will definitely check out the quick disconnect and the Battery Tender.

In the meantime, I myself could use a recharge!  I really admire a lot of members here who balance their families and careers, while making it out to so many Viper events.

Hopefully tomorrow I crawl out of bed and the Viper fires right up!

Hey Mike,

I normally have "battery tenders" on my Vipers when they will be sitting for while.  Another option is to install a battery quick disconnect - available from Parts Rack.  I have one on my GTS which is sometimes stored in my trailer for weeks at a time.  If I remember to disconnect the battery (very simple, just turn a switch) I have no battery issues.

The GTS and SRT are both hard on batteries, i.e. you cannot let them sit for long without the battery running down unless it's hooked up to a battery tender.

The brand that I use is also called "Battery Tender".  I'm sure you can find one locally.

On your other question, yes, the battery can likely be charged overnight back to full charge with a standard battery charger available from Sears or Pep Boys (I have one of these too).

Good luck,

Dan

Hi all, I'm new to the club and have had the opportunity to meet a few of you.  My question is regarding battery tenders/chargers.  Are there any that you guys and gals have had positive experiences with?  Especially ones that are readily available for purchase at nearby stores?

Here's the scenario:  I'm getting married in a few days, on July 4th (Art, you're up next man), and my 1996 B/W was gonna be the getaway car.  But it must be mad at me, and apparently it likes to eat batteries... a new battery was installed when my brother and I purchased it from the original owner back in mid-October.  The last couple times it was driven was to Cars and Coffee (June 6th), and maybe once for a short distance a week later.  Anyone with a Gen II that has experience a discharge in a relatively short timeframe?

Anyway, I just tried jump starting the car but wouldn't crank much - mostly a rapid clicking sound.  So I guess my question is 1) about the battery tender and recommendations as mentioned above and 2) even if I got a battery tender, would it be enough time to get the battery juiced (under 3 days).

The original owner had the car serviced at HB Dodge, and the battery should still be under warranty, so that is an option.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sincerely,
Michael Hu

Well, I finally made it out to a Viper event!  It was a ton of fun, and everyone made my fiancee and I feel really welcome.  Below is a link where you can view the pictures I took.  Pardon some of the blurry pictures... I should probably invest in a digital SLR.
