SPRING MOUNTAIN MOTORSPORTS RANCH
April 23 & 24 !!
Our track sessions are run by us - the So Cal Viper Club ! ^2
Hey Sidewinders,
Our favorite track event the last two years is back again!
Don't miss this one.
Michael and Virginia von Quilich are once again hosting us for dinner and cocktails at their "Garage-Mahal"
• Friday night dinner in the von Q's Garage-Mahal, April 22 5:30 - 8:30 PM. Dinner is $25 each and will include a catered meal from Tommasino's with the Von'Q's providing the adult beverages. ^2
Location: 1711 Chico Lane, Pahrump 89060 (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=681+S+Highway+160,+Pahrump,+NV+89048-4632+(Pahrump+Nugget)&daddr=1711+Chico+Ln,+Pahrump,+NV+89060+(VON+QUILICH%27S)&geocode=FXKIKAIdKDgW-SEXmYnqlX-sCClD1wAGezfGgDHEk6fNasDZwg%3BFbcHKQIdf6cV-Skh4YdyNzbGgDE-LRGLNjGDog&hl=en&mra=pe&ie=UTF8&z=13) Phone: 702.622.5594
• On Saturday and Sunday, we'll get to drive Spring Mountain's road course.
• We plan to include a continental breakfast and a catered lunch at the track both days.
• Track fees are $100 per day to drive, including breakfast and lunch at the track in the "members only" clubhouse.
• Bring your swimsuit - if it gets warm enough, we can take a dip in the member's pool!
• All driver levels are welcome and instruction is available (required if it's your 1st time on the track).
• Driving suits and helmets are required by the track's insurance company for all drivers and passengers. The track has a small number of driving suits it can rent. You can call ahead and check availability (888) 856-5870; or you can buy one at G-Force Racing Gear (http://www.gforce.com/products/suits/4372.php). Prices for an SFI rated suit starts at about $110, a very good investment.
• Hotel accommodations are available at the Nugget Hotel and the Best Western for a group rate. Just be sure to mention the Viper Club when you call.
Block these dates now as you'll never attend a better track event at a better facility for the low price that Spring Mountain is offering us.
For more info, go to: www.springmountainmotorsports.com
Please register right ASAP if you plan to attend
See you at the track,

April 24 is Easter Sunday. Saturday is the biggest day of the year for our Garden Center.
No can do.....................Glenn <J
On our calendar...need to find helmets and fire suits! >v
Where is a good place to get a driving suit? What brands are recommended that won't exactly break the bank...
I got my Sparco suit at

Oh, and I'm definitely in for Spring Mountain.
Ben
I'm in, though I will only be driving on Saturday.
Simpson has good variety. There is a store at Irwindale Speedway and one in Harbor City. The Harbor City stpre has waaaay more merchandise to choose from.

Start at Simpson and get an education on racing apparel. Then you can shop around.
Go in and get fitted first. You will be spending $300 for a basic suit.
Also talk to Viper X. Dan will walk you through the basics for the track before you start
spending lots of money.

Saturday & Sunday – Closed My custom suit came from Simpson. Cool Co. <1
Count me in as long as I have a car to drive!
I am definitely planning on being there !
Hey Guys,
As Glenn states below, April 23 & 24 are Easter weekend. This doesn't impact Cathy and I at all - but our kids are grown - Dax and Drew are OK without doing an Easter Egg hunt and my 2nd son is living in Oregon.
How much does this impact our group?
Should be try for another weekend?
Please post your opinion at your earliest convenience.
Dan
I'm still in!
I'm still good to go, but will leave early on Sunday to make Grace's 1st Easter Egg hunt.
I would probably favor a change in date because of the Easter weekend, but wouldn't miss the opportunity to drive Spring Mountain either way.
Scottp
Dan,
I'd be OK with Easter weekend although it would probably be better for most to switch. Easter wouldn't be popular with Diann but we'd work that out. Could be that this weekend works out best for Spring Mountain members since it is Easter.
Hey Mike,
You hit the nail squarely on the head, so to speak.
Hotels are available and the track is pretty wide open.
Other weekends are more difficult.
Still, I agree and would like to move it if possible but don't care for a repeat of last years "super hot" day at the track.
Please keep responding guys. I'll ask Michael if we can do it another weekend.
Dan <2
We're in either way. How about slightly later start times than last year?

Hey Matt,
Glad you two are coming out. We had an early start last time to beat the heat.
Shouldn't be an issue this time through.
Who's bringing the eggs?
Can't make it that weekend- family stuff. If it is moved to another weekend, I will likely be there! >o
OK,
Sooo I spoke with the "Q" and there just isn't another weekend that will work for the him or the track, so April 23 and 24 are the dates.
Hope to see as many of you as can make it.
Same basic access to club facilities as the previous years, clubhouse, pool, etc.
Please let us know if you can make it by posting here as we will need a "number" for dinner on Friday night at the "Q"'s car barn.
Dan
More detail to follow.
Dan,
After talking to Michael and Virginia this weekend - I'm in!
Since it's Easter break the following week, it looks like I'll be bringing the girls in the motorhome then over to Las Vegas on Sunday for a few days.
Buttonwillow's got me revved-up, I don't want to miss driving Spring Mountain.
Scottp
Dan,
I'll be there!
Mike
I'm in.

Cool. It was killing us to get up that early to make the drive out to Pahrump. I was dragging by the end of Sunday last year.
Michael likes to get started very early, so we'll have to beg him a bit on the time.
Likely, we'll have a 8:00 AM driver's meeting (no too early) then split our group into beginner / intermediate and high intermediate / advanced. There should be plenty of track time.
Dan <19
Will there be any difference between running on Saturday or Sunday? I'm thinking I can do Sunday as I'll be staying in Vegas Friday and Saturday night and drive over Sunday morning.

Sunday's track configuration will include an Easter Egg hunt >w
Bruce,
You can drive either day or both.
You know what I'll be doing ..... have some old tires to wear out!
See you at the track,
Dan
Reservation made at the Nugget and check is in the mail to Nino for Friday Night's dinner.
Dan,
Who do I contact to rent a suit, since I don't think they will let me wear my nephew's Iron Man suit.
Art,
Call the track. Not sure who to speak with but if you tell them you are with the Viper group that's driving in April, somebody there should be able to help.
Also, there's an outfit selling driving suits on line for just over $100 bucks, so you may want to buy one.
Dan
Count me in this year; it sounds like a lot of fun. I've got the helmet. I just have to work on renting or buying one of the driving suits. Paul

Dan,
Do you think they'll actually make us use the driving suits this year or will they let us slide again like last year?
No way to know for certain.
Justin and I will not miss this event. Count us in.

Where is a good place to get a driving suit? What brands are recommended that won't exactly break the bank...
Here are a few links for you that I compiled for you from a bunch of emails I exchanged with people when I was looking for an inexpensive suit (these start at $99):
http://www.saferacer.com/g-force-gf105-one-piece-racing-suit.html?productid=915
http://www.upr.com/G-Force-105-Racing-Suit-p320.html
http://www.upr.com/Lico-Steel-Racing-Suit-p739.html
http://wescoperformance.stores.yahoo.net/race-suits.html
Here are some of my notes: Wesco Performance does not stock anything (Internet orders only); it is all drop-shipped from the manufacturer. The lady I spoke to was asking about fire ratings and SFI specifics and I told her "anything will work as long as it is a race suit" and she recommended Pyrotect and Crow (Proban material in both cases; not Nomex; probably due to cost even though we hadn't spoke about pricing at all) as they are local manufacturers (the latter being in Orange County) so suits would arrive timely (even though I didn't tell her there were time constraints).
I bought a Pyrotect Proban Sportsman Deluxe 2-piece for myself and one for my wife, Lena. I ordered multiple sizes, not knowing what would fit, and I was glad I did as I had to mix-and-match to get a jacket and pants that fit properly. They allowed me to return everything I didn't keep for a full refund (and they had no problems with me mixing jacket and pants between sized-sets). We've only used them once (Spring Mountain), and they worked fine for the weekend (we didn't catch on fire).
Ken Alker ^12
Count me in. I will be there with Becky.
Last year I bought a suit from K1 and it was reasonable I think around $300 for the sfi cert suit.( which you need)
I figure Its worth it when you can use it at least 3-4 times a year or more. Besides you can show up at the local starbucks and act like a race car driver or use it for halloween >g
We got the last room at the Nug-pup. Where's dinner on Saturday night?
Also, do we pay the track fees at the track like last year?
Guys,
FYI, on the subject of fire suits, Chad (Ex pro rally racer and owner of Sube Sports in Huntington Beach) strongly recommends getting a one piece driving suit.
Dan
Does anyone know if there are still rooms available for Friday near the track?
Thanks!
Hey Ted,
Check the first post. There are 3 hotel options listed there with contact info.
See you at the track,
Dan
I am 100% in and promise not to have pneumonia! :-)
>g >g >g >g >g
This boy is all set to go !!!!
So who is driving out on Friday with me?
I'm thinking we should get into Barstow around 11:30 at the absolute latest, which means we meet in Ontario at 9:30 and leave by 10:00.
Hopefully I can see by then. ^17
>r I'm rolling out on Friday, meet at the usual Chevron? Fast Eddie will head out with us too.
<17 >w
I'll be in the motorhome - you guys can follow me out if you can keep up <19
Scottp
I am in!!!
Good news: I've never driven that track before, so I will probably suck until the last session of the last day <19
Bad news: I'll be Driving ViperX10. I may have a little advantage there... <11
Mmmm... I love this car.
Terry.

Hi Everybody
Will drive saturday.Still have to see about sunday driving!(family).
Peter Hausherr aka Swisspower <19
I'll be heading out with you guys on Friday too.
Terry, looking forward to see ViperX10 burn up Spring Mtn. Should be awesome!
<2
Ben
Hmmmm... Don't know yet if I'll be driving it or towing it....
It's a long trip for a set of Hoosier... And there's probably not gonna be much left of them on the way back after 2 days of trying to catch local Hero Mickael.
I'm now paid and REGISTERED !
If you haven't already done this, you better do it quick !
You will be gridded at the start line according to order of registration..... <11
Im registered, selected Friday night dinner, Saturday only, pay at table, my total was only $25, are we paying for the track fees at the track? =7 <t
I went back and read the part that said if you're not eating dinner or need instruction click here to register, but I was unable to because it appears that the hyperlink is not active. I'll have to check it when I get on a computer instead of iPhone.
I just completed registering and am looking forward to getting out on the SM track again. I had some issues with the car at Chuckwalla; but, I feel that it is good to go if I keep an eye on things. Looks like probably a valve job in the cards this summer.
Ben and Scott P,
I just got my viper back from Terri Rossi and he worked his magic on my suspension! He said my alignment was so bad it's no wonder you guys kicked desert sand in my face last October.
Looking forward to round two!
See you guys Friday night
Mike
Hey Mike,
Knowing Terry's alignments, and I do, I'm glad you are no "trailering" your car!
More later,
Dan
Yea Mike that sounds good, the alignment will be a big help - you may want to bring an extra set of tires.........
It'll be fun chasing you around, I'm looking forward to catching up.
Scottp
Had a great time, perfect weather and not too crowded.
Thanks to Michael and Virginia for hosting us!!
Looking forward to seeing some video, Dan, Terrry?
Mike
The guys got quite a few of these - and "Point By" Eddie wasn't even there... >w
