I have an idea that would be great for club morale and get more people out with their vipers.  Me, for one, as I have missed several events this year.

I would like to suggest the following.  For each Saturday of the month, we set up a local viper meeting place for breakfast and getting the cars and members together somewhere in the SoCalViper region.  This would repeat exactly the same every month.  Something like this.  To view a map of the meeting location, click the HTML link below each specific Saturday event.

This monthly schedule continues every month, the same specific Saturday of the month for the specific region and the same breakfast restaurant.. 
The potential for a local cruise after breakfast would be up to the members attending the get together.  Members from other regions would know the specific Saturday event and venue if they choose to drive to a venue outside their area just to get together with other club members.

We will set up the same meeting place and the same respective day of the month for each region of the Viper Club, I think club participation would increase sharply.   
This schedule doesn't change, same place, same time and should bring people out with their Vipers.  The club is to diverse and covers so much physical area that to plan something and get everyone out means large driving distances and time for most members, whereas, a local specific day of the month would tend to bring people out once a month or more if they decided they wanted to travel to another venue to see friends.

I believe this will work.  I would ask you to think about it, starting in October!

Let me know your thoughts.  I am sure YoPrez-Racecars  could be all over this!  I think having it at like Crystal Cove may not work so well as one has to get up and be there by about 6:00 AM, people enjoy having breakfast together and this would build club camaraderie, unlike Crystal Cove which is mainly coffee, donuts, wait around and then drive home.  :P   This should be a SoCal Viper Club Event, not a major car show Saturday AM event.

It may be advantageous to designate several club members in the specific regions to spearhead the initiation of this so that more people come out.

I would appreciate hearing from club members around the SoCalViper area about starting this once a month local get togethers.   ;D

Thanks for your post.  I think it will work out great and if a member wants to visit other parts of the Southland, he will know which Saturday the event will be taking place.  I am hoping an Orange County member will add a thread about a potential meeting place in the OC area, that has good parking and good food.  I will have to wait until Racecars finishes his weekend Viper Cruising before we get a chime from the San Diego Members.

Maybe Professor Ricardo Palkovich can provide a needed OC meeting point?   :D

I think racecars Dave has the inside edge on San Diego Hooters.  Princeville was awesome!  Right on having any kind of sports car on the north shore of Kauai, unless it is also good in water.  Most Excellent Place.

Lance, do you have a suggestion for a place in OC that could be a venue for a Saturday AM Viper Breakfast get together?

I suggest the Crystal Cove car show place on PCH between Newport Beach and Laguna Beach.  To asure a place in the car show, you need to be there by 6:30 am each Saturday.

Cathy and Dan Evert had members there two weeks ago and it went well.

I think Crystal Cove is a great place, but as you indicated means up at 6:00 AM.  I think the idea is more like arrive at 8:00-8:30, chat with fellow viper owners in a low key environment, and then breakfast at 9:00, with only Viper members and no distractions, but I think we are open to anything.  Depends on what others want to do.

In that case, we could meet at a more central spot.  Perhaps a little inland, since it can get damp and rainy close to the water.

How about Mimi's .... say on 17th and the 55 freeway?  Then you could drive back roads towards Cooks Corner if anyone wanted to drive.

Any other thoughts Orange County-ites?

Is there anyplace Viper friendly over off of the 55 fwy and Chapman???   After breakfast we could head east on Chapman up and over the hills on to Santiago Canyon Road...just a thought.

Maybe that was a pizza joint in the afternoon?  Seems like that is solar system central, Chapman and the 55 for anyone who lives in OC.

SD Vipers

There are two decent "Vipering" roads in Orange County.

1.  Cook's Corner - We could start at Mimi's on 17th.  Then go East on 17th, north on Newport Blvd and right on Santiago Canyon.  Or could start at Chapman and 55 and go East on Chapman (not a very interesting Drive until you get to Newport Blvd.

2.  Orega Hwy - We could start at a breakfast place in San Juan Capistrano at Ortega and Route 5.  Then go East to the lookout .... maybe down to Elsinor for lunch (?) and then home.

The nice thing about Mimi's as a starting point, is that it is close to the intersection of many freeways .... 55, 5, 22 and 91.

From there we could still go to Ortega on certain days or just back towards Cook's.

Lance, other thoughts?

I like that idea, may work great for you in SD County.  It is easily doable, just as long as everyone knows the SD venues rotate and they check the web site.

I may even get up early enough to hang with the SD Vipers!  (That is asking a lot, but I would be up for it).  Dave,  does the Baronna Valley Casino or Pala Casino sound like an additional option?

We have to work for a living!! Thank you very much! This is Great! What do you need me for. Lets finalize meeting places and then we can post it as regular on going viper stops. Just incase a viper member wakes up on a Saturday morning and decides they want to get together. Orange County sounds great lets mark that one in gold stone. Riverside is perfect lets keep that one also. SD lets keep Carlsbad for now and then later Dave can change things if he wants. Everything looks good and I can add a new spot under events just for regular meetings and locations. Let me know what you want to call it. You guys did a great job and all I had to do is type. We should talk this up now that we have the four major regions represented and specific calendar weeks selected.  I, for one, plan on a visit to each venue over the coming months once this gets rolling, even San Diego is looking good.

SD Vipers Great Pumpkin run is on the 21st of Oct, so it won't interfear with the last Sat. The rest of the group will have to chose where they want go. ::)

Looks like there will be some conflicts on dates in the future also. Life is tuff sometimes.

If someone else wants to do all the events, works for me, then I can be just one of the NORMAL people.

Shouldn't be a problem.  The OC Viper get togther is on that day in October.  Members that are planning on going to the Great Pumpkin Run should not worry about the OC venue.  This is purely for those that perhaps are not going on the Pumpkin Run.  It may be better for this idea to perhaps cancel the planned Viper get together on a conflict day, such as the 21st of October, and then just reschedule for the following month.  I am sure there will be many other events during the year that happen on a given Saturday and once this Viper Get Together idea gets rolling it shoud not be a problem.  Some members don't make the planned club events and runs and may prefer just to bring their viper out to their regional breakfast meeting place on their given Saturday and just hang with other viper members.   Remember, this is just hanging out with other viper owners and having breakfast, so it is not a major planned event.

So I see no conflicts.  Great Pumpkin Run is already getting extra publicity!   ;D

We need Yo Prez to help get this rolling over the coming months.  It is actually a great weekend time spent with cars and car people.

I think we were officially starting the events in October because of the VOI9 in Vegas, but if you can get Bruce and Lance to get on board and start a month early, great.

I think this is generally a good idea.  I would add that it would be nice to have one or two primary attendees at each location each month.  Cathy and I would do the Orange County spot (though I would change the location - more later), Tony and Sherrie could do the Riverside / SB spot, you could do the Valley and Dave could do SD (likely at Carlsbad) if agreeable to all.  If you or any primary attendee couldn't make it for whatever reason, you could hopefully get another club member to help out in your place.

On the subject of Crystal Cove (this is where I'd choose to meet in OC) the time is now 7:00 AM to get into the show.  There is no entry prior to 7:00 AM.  You could arrive at any time from 7:00 on and park out of the show.  The restaurant is quite nice, the venue is unbeatable, Starbucks is next door and we could schedule breakfast for 8:30 or ?.  I think we could likely get a standing reservation.  For those that want to get up early, the car show can be fun and become a regular event.
