K1-Speed Go-Kart Competition
A VCA MEMBERS ONLY EVENT
Last year's event was a huge success. We had 50 members and the demand for a repeat was loud and clear!
So...are you up to the challenge...a repeat of last year?! How does driving an Italian Electric Pro Kart with 20HP (faster than most gas carts) on an indoor track - against fellow members sound to you?
The K1-Speed Mini Grand Prix includes 14 Qualifying Laps and 16 Final Laps - in groups of 8. Your times will be displayed on the score board and monitors as you race; lap times to the 100th of a second, speed and positions. At the end of each race, you'll receive a detailed result card. FYI: Kids must be 12 and up to participate. We plan to have a "ladies only" run groups, so please, indicate this on your RSVP.
We'll have lunch between sessions and medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in each run group and trophies for overall fastest at the end of the event.
Wear comfortable clothing and closed shoes.

Two 25 pound Cinder blocks carefully hidden in his kart should eliminate some of the weight advantage Dan and Lance. <1
I keep telling you guys it's just beginners luck.
Hey Art,
I'm thinking three 25 pounders ..... for Fast Eddie, two for Lance.....

Dan,
That's why you're the President ;) We can also tie their shoelaces together.
Art, I think they'll still whoop us at K-1.
I'll take them on at Buttonwillow or Willow Springs though ..... in my Viper.
and if you get some track tires, I think you'd have shot at them ..... in your Viper.

Wow I missed last year and I know everyone had a great time.
I just checked my sons water polo calendar and of course that weekend is booked for a tournament.
So I am probably out, but I really want to come, I will see if i can sneak away for a few hours anyway.
My daughter would like to come, so maybe it will work out for the two of us.
I will post again later, everyone have a great time, I am looking forward to the pictures again if I don't make it.
Ray McIntyre
My son, Mikey, and I will attend.
Thanks,
Ben
Wow this one is coming up quick !
This was an absolute blast last year. It was too much fun watching everyone go round and round. Especially Joel....getting spun around.
Let's see some more names.
Do we have a signup application to fill out for this one?
Yes, you do need to register for this event - however, there are no upfront costs. You'll pay the day of the event during registration.
Registration Form is attached to the 1st post in this thread. <I

Yeah ..... I wish. I haven't had the time to get over there (in the last 24 hours) !
Plus I have a bad hang nail which is really slowing me down.
I should get a half lap head start on you track junkies. >w
Hey Art and Joel,
Let's use the buddy system on Lance. If we drive three across, no way he can get by us! >v
Dan
Dan, I think that would have worked, except that now Lance knows what one of our strategies is going to be, so he's going to create a mod to his go kart that will elevate the kart (similar to the Gadgetmobile from Inspector Gadget) and leave us eating his dust. I still think we should load cynder blocks on to his and Eddie's karts to minimize their advantages.
I know I'm late due to work stuff. >o
BUT if there is still room count me in! >v

Lawrenzo,
Since she didn't come in that outfit what's your excuse for not placing in the top 3??? Was there somebody else we should have been taking >u of ? Your Viper looks awesome.
Dave,
She's a beauty! Good to have you back in SoCal.
Lance,
I emoticon for you >s You managed to ward off Rev and his great driving skills to win the head to head match up.
Big >g to Mikey who has very impressive and managed to outrun his super fast dad! Lance, Ben and Mike you fellas need to keep on practicing because Mikey is coming for you next year!
First place or last, it didn't matter as we all had a GREAT time today.
A huge >v to Mikey who really drove his heart out today and outperformed virtually everyone in the club today.
He is only 11 years old and has only driven this track a few times. I admittedly have had a few laps more experience than him...and he is right on my tail.
Good job Mikey !

Dan had the Pole Position in his heat and was doing a great job....till son Drew gave him a love tap in the turn 3
hairpin and knocked him out of the running. (Drew just lost his allowance for a few months)
Hopefully some of the new faces that came out today had a good time. It is great to see so many new and old members coming out for events.

Hey, I came in 3rd in my heat--
I'm just too big and heavy to really compete for the top spots!
Hey Lance,
Nic pics as usual.
That "love tap" by my son meant a bunch of ibuprofen last night, this morning and a trip to the chiropractor tomorrow.
We'll have to do a family trip in the near future. I'll start behind him. I don't get mad, but I will get even!
Neat to see everyone having fun.
Carol bounced back really well and made it home last night after a pretty painful day along with a cast.
Dan
Did she break her wrist? OUCH! >o
Did you ever get a clear explaination as to how it happened?
Get better soon Carol (Crash)!
Thank you for the great event! JJ and I had a great time. Good to see you all again. Looking forward to more events soon!
Wish you a speedy recovery Carol! Keep your spirits up.
Hey guys,
We saw the X-rays and she actually broke both bones in her right arm just above her wrist. I'm speculating a bit, but my guess is that she was holding the steering wheel a bit high when she hit the wall. She tried to stop the momentum of her upper body with her arms and one of them (her right) was a bit cocked at the wrist. Ouch!!
We'll talk about hand position on the steering wheel (among other things) at our upcoming "Do it yourself / Pre-Viper Days" clinic at Lance's shop.
Still a bit sore myself.
Dan
Street cars with tow hooks and roll hoops, several with DOT tires that have treadwear ratings of 100 or less - Toyos - Kumhos - members with their own kart gear.
There were some intense people at this event. I was thinking I should have brought Randy Begin with me to watch my back.
The intensity didn't mean people taking it too seriously though. Smiles and laughs were everywhere from veteran members to new members. That's what makes an event like this so much fun.
Many thanks again to Dan & Cathy. The fun events in this Region just keep coming.
Always great to meet up with So Cal friends whether local events & when in AZ for Barrett, etc.
All our best to Carol for a quick and complete recovery.
Marv S.
This is kinda funny,
Results are in ..... from my chiropractor. His comment was "Your son did a really good job of messing up your neck and back at your go karting event".
Thanks Doc ..... thanks Son.
