We should do something together this weekend.....and it sound's like Mike is inviting us to his house on Saturday night for dinner!

It's very nice in Dana Point when it's hot inland.

Yeah,

I'm with you guys.  The forecast for Saturday is hovering around 96F.

Too hot for me.

See you guys at Laguna Seca.

Will be pretty "rusty" by then.

Cathy and I are planning to attend.

For those of you that haven't stayed at The Fess Parker, it's a nice place at a great location.

Guys,

Weather is looking pretty good for Saturday.  Low 55, high 87.

The first three sessions should be fast!

I'll likely register next week as we get a better weather forecast.

See you at the track,

Dan

Thanks Randy!  Might take you up on that offer.

Dan,
Are you getting a Gen V?

Hi Art,

Not in the plans right now.....

Could be in the future.

Lance and Dan's previous posts are missing!  I never even got to read Dan's post!

I'm planning to make this one.

Think we should all try to get to know these guys and support them.

Good sponsors are hard to find.

Randy and Guys,

Planing to drive Willow Springs June 1 with Speed Ventures if it's not too hot.

Would be a nice one day "test and tune" for you Randy.

Might see you guys Saturday, but not at 6:00 AM.  Maybe 8 ish.....

Planning to sell my black Vert, listed it in the vehicles for sale section.

Interested, but don't plan to be in the valley on a Sunday morning by 7:00 AM from South OC.

What time are you guys really planning on being there?

Hey Guys,

I missed ACS Fontana with you guys, so might want to run Willow Springs June 1 - Saturday - a one day event with Speed Ventures.

Weather permitting of course.  If it's too hot, it's a no go for me.

Anyone else interested?

Sounds like you guys had fun.  Glad no one got caught up in that crash.  Passing right there has always been sketchy.  I prefer to wait if the guy is going to race me out of the previous turn and just get him on the front straight.

Crazy video of the guy crashing in front of you Mike.  I had a couple of guys crash into each other right in front of me at Laguna Seca last year in the first session.  Same kind of deal where the driver's didn't seem to be paying attention to the cars around them.

Wish I could have driven with you guys, just too much other stuff going on....

Speed Ventures is doing a one day event - Saturday June 1 at Willow Springs.  Might do that one, weather permitting, as it would be a good tune up for Laguna Seca.

Darn,

The weather is looking much better than it did a week ago.

I guess I waited too long to sign up as they are sold out for Saturday.

Been busy with work stuff, so won't make it this time.

Be safe out there you guys.

See you next time.

Jeff,

Just spoke with Lance.

Sound like you need a new clutch and a new slave cylinder.

Call Dan C at Specialty.

That super modified monster truck only ran high 11's and only trapped 120 mph ish.

Many of us can run that quick or quicker in our stock Gen 4's and trap over 130 mph.

FYI, my supercharged 04 can run 9's and trap about 150 mph.

A couple of tips.

1 - The Master cylinder cap for the clutch fluid reservoir is BLACK, not yellow in a Viper.  It's located just in front of the brake fluid MC reservoir.

2 - I highly recommend you buy a Mighty Vac (Pep Boys, etc) and insert one of the black, rubber tapered fittings into the end of the hose from the Mighty Vac, then insert this rubber tip into the center of the bleeder valve with a closed end wrench already on the valve, crack the valve open about 1/2 turn and suck the fluid out of the bleeder valve on the trans.  You want to fill the canister on the MV a couple of times or until the fluid runs clean, which may take more fluid than you think.

Once you are happy that the fluid is clean, close the valve and pump the clutch pedal 8 - 10 times.  Check the clutch pedal for engagement height and see how it feels.  It should be up higher than it was before you started.

It's very difficult to correctly bleed the hydraulic clutch system in a Viper when using the technique described above.

3 - Pretty sure the Viper's OE brake fluid is DOT 4.  You may want to check your manual.

Not sure exactly where you live Jeff but give us a call if you get into trouble with this.

Good luck,

No...I was just yanking Buck's chain  >w  that his price should be "installed".

I have done the Gen 2 pans, but have never done the Gen 3 swing arm.  Is there a lot involved with it?
I can't imagine it being too terribly difficult.   I get the feeling that Buck is going to volunteer me for the job since he doesn't want to get his white t-shirt dirty.

Installation is real straight forward.  You will need a torque wrench and some deep sockets along with a few other regular tools.  You will also want to apply some RTV to the corners of the oil pan gasket which is normally re-useable.

Add a new oil filter and some fresh oil and you're done!
