We could make it a "Sidewinders" only portion of the forum, i.e. others can read this section, but only Sidewinders can post.

I think the SIDEWINDERS section is a great idea, limiting access only to SIDEWINDERS will be a mistake in my opinion. That would be as if we have a club split in two. (this is based on your statement not being a joke, if it was then you got me)
I think anyone in the club should be able to chime in on any and all posts.

Yes, I was kidding.

We could ask that all the "Sidewinders" use only their "call signs" after their posts on this section of the forum rather than their names - for fun of course.
