Title: 11 quarts of oil for oil/filter change?
Post by: AceFang on July 20, 2011, 10:15:04 AM
How many quarts of oil are needed for a oil/filter change?  I did the first one on my '09 ACR (thanks to Lance and his hoist), and I remember having 2 quarts left over from the dozen I bought @ $6.99 per quart.  But when I checked with the local dealer (Tuttle-Click Irvine) I was told it will take 11 quarts @ $13.70 per quart. Is it reasonable to have to add 1 quart for the filter change in addition to the 10 qt capacity?

Ten is the recommended amount.  Eleven if you are going to run at the track.
Personally I would start with ten and check the level in a couple of days.   <1

I fill it with ten quarts with a filter change, run the engine to check for leaks, then top it off.

I usually get 10.5 quarts into mine, sometimes a bit more.

If I'm tracking a car, I always be sure the oil level is just slightly above the full line while driving the car hard.
