The VCA just announced the VOI 11 will be in Salt Lake at the Miller Motorsports Track
9/30/09 to 10/3/09 See the details on the VOI site
Can we stretch this into a 2 week event, go see Michael @ Spring Mountain, go to Vegas for more fun, go to VOI, then repeat backwards!
A stop in Vegas would be great! I'm In!
Dang it fellas you beat me to the punch, I was letting Lance know The news and getting the wife's blessings to attend. I say a Vegas stop is a must we'll stop by and pickup Deadhead and Moparman, though Deadhead will probably beat us to SLC since he'll have to trailer his ACRX.
Where's the FHP, Hemotox, Fast Eddie, Banzai Ben, Gunner, Rookie, Dealmaker, ScottP, Fyron, Deadly4u, Hissn1, Rattler, Mr. Speedtactics, the HotV10s, Kala, Nino, Badnewz P Winters, Cousin Mike, Mr. Dolan, Lawrenzo, Cyberman come on people this is VOI 11. Let's make sure there is a HUGE SoCal presence.
If you haven't renewed your club membership, don't wait any longer as Members typically get priority registration and discounted rates (historically speaking). >r
I'm in. Plus, there are some nice straight roads along the way. Rumor has it Viper can hit 200 mph...I'm just saying...
Hey Gang,

"...It's a privilege to be asked how I feel about this place... because the facilities, the people who run it and the security staff are all top notch. I have never seen anything so well put together... It's a great circuit. I just can't say enough about Miller Motorsports Park. This place speaks volumes when you look around this great track..."

Art,
Its 600+ miles and about 10.5 hrs drive; never driven that far in the Viper, looks promising. Only problem is that it is right after the start of the school year and if things are as messy as this past year I may not be able to take that time off. I am shooting for it and hope to attend since its so close and never attended VOI. So put me down as a 50-50 chance of attending.
If you guys are serious about spending a night or two here in Vegas I can have my wife see if she can set up a group rate at the Palms (she's an employee there)...no proimises on the rates as it'll depend on what else is going on in town. Keep it in mind and if this gets rolling the offer stands...
It would be great to make it a long weekend with a day at Pahrump and then on to Salt Lake.
I went to Staples to buy a 2010 year planner and I've already marked it on the calendar.
I'm with Art....a stop in Vegas is a MUST.
Is this Lori or Lance typing? >w Either way I like it! <Z
This sounds great. I have it marked on my calendar. I vote for a stop in Vegas and wherever the group caravans.
It is generally cool during the days and cold at night, can have bad weather, not uncommon that a snow storm passes through. I have a place in Park City so I know the weather and time of year well. It is at least 20-30 mile drive west to Miller, no facilities in the area for lodging, lodging would have to be in SLC. Surprising time of year for a VOI event. Not the biggest party town for a meeting! Could be an excellent event or trouble driving back through a snow storm!
>m
Guess I better pack a set of chains !
I've test fit my chains and all's well - I'm in!
ScottP
Hey Sidewinders,
I like the ideas about going to Pahrump and then on to VOI 11!! I'll check the dates and get back to you.
For our April track days, we are all set up. Spring Mountain is very open to offering "session" instruction which means that instead of hiring an instructor for the whole day, you can get instruction by your session. I'll let you know as soon as the details are worked out.
Meanwhile, Johnny "Yuma" Weigel is coming this weekend with his hopped up robo car. (Nissan GTR). He is picking it up after a month in LV at a tuner shop and is going to try it out at the track. He wants to dyno it, but the track doesn't have a 4-wheel dyno...I'm from the old school, big engine in front, rear wheel drive, no slushers or so called "paddle shifters"...
Cheryl and I will make this one. We have never been to a VOI so we are looking forward to it. We agree, Vegas =28 is a must.
Hey Mike,
Glad you two can make this one, you will enjoy it.
I'll be "trailering" my car as usual - just a thought for those of you without a trailer but with a truck or SUV. You may want to rent a car trailer and tow your car to SLC.
I've talked to a few guys about this and it's a much more comfortable 10 + hour ride.
Dan
Woohoo Mike and Cheryl are in >r. Need a commitment from Banzai Ben, hint, hint.
Dan trailering would be more comfortable, but it won't be faster >v. Besides we're going to make a stop in Vegas so Lance, Wingman, Gunner and I can make some money at the tables. Vegas to SLC was a bit under/over 400 miles, which according to Mapquest should take about 6 hours, but that sounds like a bet to me >m
I'm in! Sounds awesome! >g
We're in also and looking forward to it!!! <L <9
Happy New Year Gang,
Count Susanna and I in also. Vegas and MMP sounds like super fan. Looking forward to having tons of fun with all of you...

Vegas to SLC doesn't take 6 hours.
Bring your radar detector...
Hey Art,
Yes, it' slower trailering.
Mopar Man,
It'll probably take me six hours pulling the trailer, but the cruise, large comfortable seat, lack of rock chips (in my trailered Viper), having a spare set of tires, plenty of clothes for Cathy and I, and room to carry home the goodie bags, will be worth it.
Let't try and hook up in Vegas.
Dan
Dan,
We're thinking about bringing both Vipers. Do you have a feel for how the pricing's going to be set up for this VOI?
Hey Guys,
Cathy and I will be attending the leadership meeting in Phoenix January 22 & 23.
We'll share VOI 11 details with you when we get back.
I'd guess pricing will be about like last time, i.e. about 8 - $900 per attendee which normally includes almost everything, room??, parking, bus transportation, most meals, track fees, goodie bags, etc.
Cathy is thinking about driving our white VOI9 coupe - we'll see how that turns out. I'll be trailering my ACR.

I think you have a typo... Room is not likely to be included.
If Cathy drives the VOI9 car up, who is going to drive your VOI-10 car back ?

Now, I think you have a typo, who will be driving back the VOI-11 car, >w
It'll be interesting to see how they handle the track time, since Viper Days will also be there.
Hey Lance,
You are likely correct on the rooms (I added a question mark). Will have to see. Since I don't actually pay for this stuff (you know how that goes, I earn it, Cathy spends it - normally at my request!), I don't always have all of the details.
I do think it's VOI 11 though ..... thanks Art!
We are both too busy!!!
On the track / NARRA portion, there is likely some deal being brokered between the VCA and NARRA.
Dan
Angelica & I are in heading up with the comfy trailer turtles.
