Upcoming Events of Interest / Bring on the New Year !
December 14, 2017, 12:54:07 PM
As we ring in the New Year, we will also bring in some changes that will hopefully make things easier and more fun for all the Viper owners in the So Cal region.

We are working on the events for 2018 and it will be a very busy year.
In an effort to make things easier for everyone to know what is coming up, we will make a monthly post which will have all the events for that month and pin it at the top of the Upcoming Events forum. There will be links to the specific event which will contain all the details

Our Webmaster Albert has been given the go ahead to revamp our website and we are looking forward to seeing those changes take place.

On behalf of Gary, Randy, Michael and myself,
Happy Holidays to all, be safe and get ready for 2018 !!

A good friend of mine invited me to tour Hillbank Motor in Irvine on Saturday September 30th at 10:00 am.
I asked if I could bring a few friends.  He said "Sure" (probably thinking that I don't have many friends  :o  Hopefully I can prove him wrong  ;)  )

I'm going to meet up with Gary at The Black Marlin in old Tustin at 8:00 am for breakfast
It is a cool restaurant with an open patio out front that will seat about 30.  Plenty of Viper friendly parking on the street and in their lot.

WHEELS AND WARRIORS

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE EXPLOSIVE ORDINANCE DISPOSAL COMPANY
-EOD Warrior Foundation Charity Event-

Date:  April 23, 2016

We have a unique opportunity to show our support to the incredibly brave men and women of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Company. The Company Commander of "EOD" at Camp Pendleton has invited the Vipers behind the gates of the EOD compound to learn about what they do and see some of the amazing equipment involved with their dangerous mission. We will tour their museum and facilities so we can get up close and learn how these brave warriors locate, identify and disarm all types of ordinance from IEDs and chemical weapons to nuclear devices. We will learn what it takes to qualify and train to become an EOD tech and the physical and mental skills necessary to kneel down before an explosive device that can literally rock their world.

The Mission

To express our appreciation for this opportunity, our mission is to bring our Vipers down to display them for the Marines, Sailors and their family members who are "car guys" to the core.

To show our respect,  SoCal Vipers will make a donation to the Wounded Warrior - EOD Fund.   This is a very specific fund that directly benefits the soldiers and immediate family members of the EOD who have made the sacrifices and paid the price for us to be able to enjoy the freedom necessary to live in the US and drive Vipers. When the unfortunate does happen, the EOD Warrior Foundation steps up to help the families in every way possible.   We felt that this would be a GREAT way for us to say THANK YOU and to give something back.

The Event

We drive our Vipers to a meeting place and caravan to the gate at Pendleton. We drive to the EOD compound where we will park our cars INSIDE for a display for the EOD team and their families. We are invited to bring our families including kids but only Vipers will park in the display area. There will be parking available for the other vehicles.

The EOD team will have BBQ grills and facilities for a picnic Marine style. (ok...leave the beer at home) We ask that each attendee bring something to BBQ or eat so we can treat the Warriors to a meal Viper style.

The Logistics

We will meet at 8:45 a.m. at the Albertsons market parking lot at 3925 Mission Ave., Oceanside CA 92058 (at the corner of Mission and Douglas Street just north of Rt. 76). We will leave there at precisely 9 a.m. Please do not be late as we WILL leave without you. We then drive to the base gate where we show our driver's license to access the base. You must also have a valid registration and proof of insurance. If you do not have these documents, you WILL NOT be admitted.  This is an active military installation and these guys don't tolerate excuses and make no exceptions. Also be prepared to not be admitted if there is an event that requires the base to lock down. Your vehicles may be searched so if you have anything you don't want the MPs or their dogs to find, leave it home. NO WEAPONS.

From the gate we will proceed several miles to the EOD compound where we will stage the Vipers and direct the other vehicles to their parking area.

The Cost

We all know the price those who serve in the military and their families pay. The cost to us for the event will be substantially less. We will be collecting $125.00 per car to attend this event. 100% of the money collected will be donated to the Wounded Warrior -EOD fund. Of course any additional monetary donations would be greatly appreciated. Aside from your donations, there will be no cost to attend the event.

Please note that this event will be limited to the first 50 Vipers who register.   We expect a sell-out so we suggest that you register as soon as possible. When you have been accepted to attend, we will ask for information needed to provide to the Marines IN ADVANCE in order for us to gain entry to Camp Pendleton. If you do not provide this information by the deadline and your information is not on the access list we submit to the Marines, be assured you WILL NOT be admitted to the base. There will be no point in asking for an exception as this will be out of our hands. Please make sure we have a current email address for you as all communication for this event will be via email.

At the end of the day, we want to show these brave members of the EOD how much we respect what they do, give them our thanks, and give them a break from the high stress task that they perform. Let's make this a show they will enjoy and remember.

Please send an email to Andy to let him know you are coming and get you on the list of attendees:  [email protected]

Tech day at Cass Automotive
5165 Cass Street
Pacific Beach   CA   92109
Saturday  February 6, 2016
10:00 - 3:00

Randy Begin has stepped up as a sponsor for the Viper Tracks 2 event out at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway on February 20 - 21   www.vipertracks.com

As a paid sponsor, he is authorized to perform the REQUIRED vehicle tech inspection.  He has graciously offered to do the tech inspection for FREE.

Please call Randy at (858) 488-0885 to let him know you are coming.

Randy will also be able to do any of the required fluid changes at the time of Tech Inspection and is offering great rates as a  Viper Tracks special.
This is a great opportunity to come hang out with the other Viper guys, get your car tech inspected and have any required maintenance or repairs done while you wait.
Randy will have most of the typical stuff in stock, or if you want to bring your own oil, filters, brake pads, brake fluid, etc. etc. , you are more than welcome to do so and he will bill only minimal labor to perform the changes.

Main thing is to have the tech inspection done BEFORE you arrive at the track.  If you don't and your car has not been tech'd or requires maintenance, you will NOT be allowed out on the track.

Come on out even if you don't need your Viper inspected just to hang out and visit with all the others.
It would be great just to see everyone together again!

A bunch of us will be heading to Glory Days Seaside Grill in Seal Beach this Sunday morning around 9:30 for breakfast.
From what we hear, the Hot Rods show up for an informal car show every Sunday and there could be anywhere from 5 to 40 cars there.

We are going just to have something to do and check out on a leisurely Sunday morning.

Come on out and join us !!

Hey everyone !
I got a text from Mike Greenberg saying that he was going to Super Car Sunday this weekend with his new TA 2.0.   I also got a text from our good friend John Williams who runs the Calico Cruisers out of Las Vegas.  You will remember a few years back, we did a joint run with them down to Borrego Springs.    John is driving from LV to go to Super Car this weekend as well.

I'm going to leave the OC at 6:00 and try to be in Woodland Hills by 7:00 to meet with them.
If you aren't doing anything, let's get the Vipers out of the garage and have some fun.  Hopefully we can get good parking up front.

See ya soon,
Lance

This Sunday I'm gonna head over to the Sunset Beach Starbucks and meet up with Andy and the Cobra guys for the "Circle of love" weekly get together.  They meet there every Sunday morning around 7:15.  Very casual gathering where they park, and pull up their chairs in a circle and visit for about an hour or so.

The address is 16470 Pacific Coast Highway, Huntington Beach.    It is located just south of Don the Beachcombers where we had the Club Luau a couple years ago.
Just an FYI, there occasionally is another larger group of cars that meet on the north side of Starbucks in the same parking lot.    There are usually some nice cars there too.

From there,  we can cruise north on PCH to the Corner Bakery Cafe in Long Beach for a quick breakfast.

This will be Bruce's last event with the So Cal Club and his first as President of the Montana Club   ;D

December 7th, 2013

The Member's Holiday Party will be held at the beautiful Aviara Resort in Carlsbad.  This AAA 5 Diamond resort is a destination in and of itself.  The 200 acre property is perched high on the ridge overlooking the Pacific Ocean, beautiful hillsides and rolling valleys.

We will host our party in one of the many beautiful ballrooms.  This years party will be back to basics with no program or speeches.  It will be a social party with fine dining and dancing.

We have blocked out rooms for those that want to spend the weekend.  A So Cal Viper group rate has been offered at $199.00/night plus a $25.00 resort fee.  The cutoff to get this great rate is November 7th, 2013
Please call in and make your reservations early by calling 888-421-1442 and be sure to mention that you are with the So Cal Viper Club.

This resort has no self parking.........but we were able to negotiate a special deal that will allow our Viper owners to self park their Vipers in the Valet garage for a special rate of $10.00 for the day and $20.00 for the overnight guests.

We have also negotiated a very special rate of $145.00/round on their Arnold Palmer designed 18 hole championship golf course.  Golf not your thing, then send your lady to their world class spa for a 50 minute massage or facial for $145.00 (based on availability).
