We are headed back in time to visit the Calico Ghost Town. 

In 1881, Calico made its way onto the map as settlers came in to mine for silver.  They pulled over 20 million dollars worth of silver in a short 12 year period.
When the silver prices dropped in the early 1890's, the miners all left and the town of Calico was abandoned.

Many of the buildings have been restored to it's original state and it is a great place to walk around.  They have a few restaurants for us to grab a bite to eat.

They run a great event that is very relaxed and fun. 
4 different run groups from beginners to advanced race.
Instructors and classroom sessions are available and it is a great place to go out and learn.

No more couch racing.......... We are going to the Speed Zone in the City of Industry for some head to head fun !
They have dragsters, go karts, and slick track for us to play/race on.   
Plan on arriving shortly before 10:00am
We will have our own room where we will have a nice hot breakfast (Biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, hash browns fruit, bagels and breads)
Each person will get a swipe card which will be good for 3 hours of unlimited use on any of the attractions.

Cost for this will be $40.00 per person.

The Thermal Club - facility tour

We got a special invitation to go out to the Thermal Club in Indio for a complete facilities tour.  The Thermal Club is a private country club
for car guys and gals.  It has 5.1 miles of private track, a beautiful Club House, Villas and everything a car could desire to be pampered and taken care of. 
They were awarded the 2017 Motorsport Facility Award and has proven to be a World Class facility.

After our tour, we will head over to the Jackelope for lunch.


I will be at the Krispy Kreme at the Block in Orange at 7:00 and will leave at 7:30am for anyone that wants to drive out together or just wants to eat DONUTS!

For anyone who wants to go, the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena is having their Car Classic car show on the campus this Sunday October 28th from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm

This year's show theme is 70 years of Art Center Influence which is showcasing all the alumni which have gone on to be very influential designers.   Many of them will be present for the show.

We will have 3 of our members cars there in the show representing the Viper, so come on out and check it out.

We have made special arrangements with Pure Track to get out to their event.   This is a unique setup in that it is similar to an auto-x but what makes this very different is that the course uses minimal cones.  Instead they use a custom gator strip curbing that makes it easy to see and follow.   Since this is set up in a giant parking lot at Angel's Stadium and is very safe.  You can push the limits and have fun feeling how great the Viper handles high g force cornering.

Time to get the Vipers out for a nice drive !!
We will head up the back road to Big Bear for a nice scenic cruise and end up at Snow Summit Ski Resort.
We have made special arrangements for parking, round trip ride on the lift to the top of the mountain and lunch at the lodge.

The Snow Summit Scenic Sky Chair is a mile-long ride that transports sightseers and hikers of all ages through the San Bernardino National Forest to an elevation of 8,200 feet.  Enjoy the wildlife, flowers, panoramic view and the relaxing 15 minute chairlift ride providing access to our Skyline Tap House Restaurant, hiking trails and San Bernardino National Forest. For those that would like to take a hike, there is a 1 mile and 3 mile loop to hike based on your level of ability.

Lunch is included at the top of the mountain - an entrée, side and drink.

Club member Raj has made special arrangements for the So Cal Viper Club to get a private tour of the Shrine Medical Center.  The Shriners have been around since the early 1870s and has grown to over 350,000 members worldwide.   This fraternity of brotherhood has long established roots of fun, fellowship, relief, and truth.   One of their greatest charitable accomplishments is the Shriners Hospitals for Children.  The Shrine Medical Center in  Pasadena is 1 of  their 22 hospitals.  We will get a behind the scenes look into their Medical Center and hear some of the great stories of young patients that have made their way through this facility.

At the end of our tour, we will have lunch out on their patio.
Lunch will be $22/person and will be Salad, Smoked sausage, Texas beef brisket, Baked beans, Coleslaw and cornbread.

On top of all this, it is Raj's birthday !    So come on out and help him celebrate his birthday.
