I really liked that track so looking forward to it. Thanks for arranging it.
Any possibility of doing Willowsprings or Buttonwillow for a club event? Maybe along with another group
to help cover costs.
Thanks for the input guys.
Ben,
Yes. As soon as we have the 2010 track schedules, I'll put together a few events that you guys can choose from.
We've had pretty good luck running with Speed Ventures and West Coast Racing normally has a March event at Willow.
Dan
Looks Like Big Willow is on for end of February and March also with Speedventures...
Good time of year before summer heat!! ^12
Yeah,
Feb / March are both good for Willow, as long as it doesn't rain.
Hey Poison,
Any word on your Viper?
Would be fun if you could make Spring Mountain with us.
Dan
Count me in. Last time was amazing. Love this track.
David "Dusty" Green
Sign me up Mr. President >v
me too!
On a somewhat related note, since there seem to be more ACRs in out club maybe it is time to have an ACR run group, would be interesting to see. Just my .02.
Hey Iceman,
Dont see my name on the list, I am sooooo in had a blast last time.
Dan,
Please add my name to the list. I missed the last trip - I'm really looking forward to this one. Thanks Art and Lance for the half lap start!
SP
Hey Scott,
Will do. You can bring your brother(s) if he'd / they'd like to come.
Let me know.
Dan
Hopefully I can make it...Engine now at Arrow for rebuild!!!

Soooo, what happened to your engine????
You know, when engines come back from Arrow, they always make more power than OE ..... argh!.....that's all you need.....you're fast enough already!
Dan
Never found out yet, Dan said it was locked up and Dodge said send it to Arrow so off it went last week..
Dan said he will let me know what happened when he hears from Arrow...Very curious myself???????? ^13
Count me in for the June 4th weekend
Glenn..............
D'oh I won't be able to make it in June =16
How hot is it there in June?
Last year's event was maybe the best track weekend I've ever been to and so I'll be there. We should have good weather in early June. Thanks again to Michael, Virginia, Dan, Cathy and everyone else who helped to put this one on.
David
"Dusty"
Hey Ben,
Michael tells me that it can get warm at that time of the year 80's to 90's during the heat of the day, likely in the 50's to 60's in the morning. We'll plan to be at the track at 7:00 AM and be done driving by 3:00 PM.
Then, we can all jump in the club pool and have swimming races!
Dan <2
Count me in! ^12
I already made reservations at the Ranch, I mean the Nugget .
They have rooms blocked out for our group.
I am in as well ..... can't wait!
I just made reservations at the Nuggett, the group rate is $59 for Kind non-smoking. Need to ask for the SoCal Viper Club. It took a few minutes to look it up. Tele no. (775) 751-6500.

The Snake Ranch??? Count me in for Friday dinner and Saturday track event. Not Sunday though.
Brusssssssssss
I'm in and reserved at the Nugget too.
Thanks Bruce C. for the hotel info.
Ben
Are fire suits truly going to be required this time, and if so, does anyone have any suggestions where to find one for a reasonable price? I only have time to run the car 2-3 times per year, so I don't want to spend a fortune. Plus, Lena is coming with me this time so we'll need two! (Which means I need to find another helmet too).
We don't have any stores in Santa Barbara that cater toward this hobby so I will probably have to head down to Ventura, Oxnard, or Camarillo. Perhaps online is the best these days?
Anyone have anything used for sale?
Thanx!
Ken
Ken,
I got a killer deal on a single layer fire suit at Simpson Racing in Harbor City. Its a ways for you but may be worth it. I would not purchase online since as with a helmet, you should try on the suit before purchasing. Simpson even did a small Viper logo on my suit while I waited.
Hey Guys,
Don't forget to click on the "flyer" in the first post as it contains a bunch of info on this event.
Hey Ken, FYI, here's info from the flyer on driving suits and helmets:
Driving suits are required by the track's insurance company for all drivers and passengers. The track has a small number of driving suits it can rent. You can call ahead and check availability (888) 856-5870; or you can buy one at G-Force Racing Gear. Prices for an SFI rated suit starts at about $110, a very good investment.
Don't forget your Snell 2000 (or better) rated helmet (no motorcycle helmets please).
Hope you can make it.
Dan
I just registered so I guess I better get my hotel before they are all gone. >w
I saw the note about no motorcycle helmets. How strict are they on that? My helmet is only two years old, hate to go buy a new one.
Hey Scott, I have a extra helmet you can use if you want to.
Ben
Ben,
Thanks I'll let you know once I find out I may give them a call sometimes they want to be sure its got the right certification.
I plan on being there; so, I guess that I will look into a driving suit. Sounds like overkill to me; but, the price isn't bad.
Is there any reason why not to get a two piece suit? Jacket and pants? Did they say ony 1-piece, or just any SFI rated suit? It sure seems that on a warm day, it would be good to be able to take the top part off between sessions. Probably is not quite as protective; but, if I am comfortable just driving in denim, I'm OK with a two piece suit. Yeah, I know a one piece looks "cooler"; but, it would take a lot more than that to make me look cool. Besides, what's cooler than driving a Viper at speed on a road course ?
Looking forward to a mega-Viper event !
Jim Schlemm
Ice Man,
Hook me up for another flight!
I got your back...
Gunner
Rocketman,
A one piece suit is MUCH SAFER from a fire standpoint. Check out the $110 suit in our flyer as it's a very good suit for the $$$$.....and you can always peel off the top half in between sessions, or if you wear shorts and a T-shirt under it like I do, you can easily slip it off.
Gunner,
OK, wingman, when Deadhead comes around and tries to pass me, you can be the blocker!
Try to stay off of the rev limiter.....

Just did the paypal thing and booked my room at the nugget. They said the spring mountain special rate was $79 for Friday, $79 for Sat. and then $59 for Sun. Does that sound right?
Okay let's get the caravan plans going! Who is heading out there on Friday? Its about 5 hrs so if we setup a meet point by 10am and then hit the road, even with gas and food stops, we should be at the hotel by 4pm-ish. Just in time for check-in!
Cathy and I are planning to stop for lunch Friday at the Outlet Mall just before Barstow, hopefully about 11:30 - 11:45.
Perhaps we'll see some of you guys there ..... then you can blow by us as we'll be towing.
Dan
Okay you're referring to the Tanger Outlet Mall off the 15 and Lenwood?
Maybe that can be a lunch meet point for everyone. Will have to look for a better place for gas though. With 11.1 to 1 compression I have to be picky with my gas ;)
Pretty sure there's a Chevron Station at the off ramp which is about as good as it gets for 91 octane.
If I were running 11:1 CR, I'd buy some Torco fuel additive.
This is the stuff I put in my Paxton car when I'm planning to run it hard.
Much less $$$$$ than buying 100 and mixing with 91.
Dan
Last year we met at 11:00 at the Chevron located at 12659 Foothill Blvd, Etiwanda, CA 91739
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=12659+Foothill+Blvd,+Etiwanda,+CA+91739&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=34.724817,56.25&ie=UTF8&ll=34.107434,-117.528734&spn=0.008866,0.013733&t=h&z=16&iwloc=addr
Timing was fine...but it put us in Barstow rightat lunch and caught a ton of traffic in the fast food joints.
I think we should meet in Ontario at 10:00 and leave by 10:30
This will put us in Barstow by 11:30.
We will stop in Barstow by the outlet center off Lenwood Rd for gas and eat at the Carl's. In and Out was definitely NOT IN and OUT as the lines were out the door.
We'll try to get out of there by 12:30.
From there it is 3 hours into Pahrump.
This will get us into Pahrump sometime before 4:00 so we'll have just enough time to check in, get cleaned up, rest and head over to VonQuillich Manor
Last year we made up a bunch of time on the backroad....BUT have no intent on doing THAT AGAIN. >1
What do you mean Lance? You don't want to follow the pace car out there like last time? OK, I'll go slower. I'll meet up in Ontario again. ^10

13 Vipers, LOOOOng straight road, and we are all CHASING a Rent-a-Car >m Go Figure >w
Hey Guys,
Lance is correct. We've made this trip many times and the In and Out is anything but ....
Also, the Outlet Mall before Barstow is usually pretty quick at 11:30 AM. After that, it can get a bit more crowded but is still better than Barstow proper for traffic, food, gas, etc.
Dan
I just booked my room at the Nugget. It is $79/night on the weekend (Fri./Sat.). Rooms are almost sold out, except for the Viper Club group. Looking forward to it! =15
My room is booked.I can't wait to see the Nugget. =28
Watch out Vegas.
I just booked my room and Lena can come with this time!
If I can get out of here on time this year (no all-nighters this time working on the 6-point harnesses or suspension since I finished it all last time!) I'll see if I can't meet up with you as you go through the Victorville area (I don't think you'll blend in real well on the freeway - I should be able to pick you out). Otherwise, I'll see you in Barstow.
Anyone leaving from the Santa Barbara or Ventura areas (or going through Santa Clarita or Pearblossom) want to caravan to Barstow?
Ken
Hey Ken,
Good to hear from you.
If David Green is driving that weekend, he'll be coming from Santa Barbara.
Dan
We will be at this event for sure. Just not sure if we are going to run the track or just hang out but it will be fun either way.
Hey Robert
No excuses! Drive with us. If you can keep up with the SD caravan on the fwy, you'll be faster than some of us!
Hey Guys,
We've gone to great lengths to make this event "rookie track guy" friendly this year. You should at least consider driving with us. You would be driving in the "beginner / intermediate group" and should hire an in car instructor from the track for the first day.
The first two sessions will likely be "lead / follow" and you can run at your own pace.
See our flyer under the first post for more details.
Dan
Its not our driving abilities that would keep us off the track. Its the proper gear we are missing (helmets, suits, etc.) Heck Jeff used to be one heck of a driver, just ask Skipp =15 I on the other hand could benefit from some good instruction.
Hey Guys,
You will want to call the track but I think it has a limited number of driving suits available to loan.
You will want to buy a good helmet though as fit is pretty important. For about $300, you can get a good quality open face Bell helmet which you will need for VOI's or AutoX's or other future driving events.
Hope you can make it.
Dan
Hey Guys,
This just in:
Just got off the phone with Bob Blizzard and wanted to run this by all attendees.
Bob is willing to do a pre-Spring Mountain track prep session where he can show our group the driving "line" prior to our regional track event there. Bob has driven this track and could take us around the track turn by turn (on paper), helping us learn the line and maximizing our time on track.
We could also cover some on track driving "basics" and car prep if we end up with some newbies. I know it will be helpful for our group (and to me).
We're thinking about doing this on Saturday May 15 or Sunday May 23 at Lance's shop followed by lunch.
Please let me know if you are interested in attending ASAP and we'll set it up.
Thanks,
Dan
I'm interested Dan.
You planning on doing any track events in May?
Thanks,
Ben
That sounds like a great idea. May 15th suddenly became unavailable. May 23rd became better.
Hey Ben,
Yes, I need to drive at least one more time before Spring Mountain to keep the "rust" off.
Let me know if you come up with anything.
The POC will be at Willow Springs in early May. Not sure if they'll let us drive with them but I'm looking into it.
Willow might also have something going over Memorial Day, which I'd be fine with - I'll keep trying to find something.
Dan
I'm in for May 15th
Glenn............... <1
Dan,
Sounds like a great idea to me, however; the 15th is not good for me - 23rd is best.
Thanks,

Dan,
I was about to buy a cheap single layer driving suit for the Spring Mountain event.
I just wanted to verify that they will accept a SFI 3-2A/1 suit (Like what was hot-linked in the flyer) with no special underwear.
The reason that I ask is that I have been researching a bit on suits and find that NASA and SCCA require fire resistant underwear with a SFI 3-2A/1 suit, so, I wondered if that might be where the SM insurance company is getting their requirement from.
I will never be in anything but low intermediate and no racing; so, as far as I'm concerned, this is just window dressing for me.
Thanks,
Jim Schlemm
I plan on attending the Spring Mountain event. I need to upgrade my brakes to Stoptechs. Anyone out there know how to remove and install brake rotors and pads? Also, if the rears wear out less than the fronts, should I replace discs at all corners or just the fronts?
If anyone can do this ahead of this event at Lance's shop, maybe the weekend before, I will feed you carne asada, and all the trimmings that go with it.

Hey Jim,
While you may consider it to be just "window dressing" , here is some food for thought.
I too consider myself in the low intermediate group and don't have any aspirations of getting to the "race" group.
That being said, I'd also say that there is a lack of "experience and skill" which is keeping us from the race group. That lack of skill puts me at a bit higher risk if something were to go wrong on the track. I realize that the race group is going a heck of a lot faster and the possibility of a more catastrophic incident is greater, but at the same time their experience should prove to be an advantage for them. Bottom line is that there is always that risk of something happening.
With Spring Mountain in particular, they utilize an advanced light warning system which eliminates a bunch of corner workers. Normally corner workers have fire extinguishers at their stations and are, in some cases, the first line of defense for a car fire. It may take an extra 15 - 30 seconds for the fire safety crew to roll and arrive at the scene. THIS is where the fire suit is no longer window dressing, but quite possibly the few extra precious seconds that you may need to get unbuckled and out of a car that is on fire.
I realize that these are events that we hope NEVER happen and we drive responsibly and within our capabilities at the track......but, What if....? Better to be prepared and safe don't you think?
FWIW, I too started out looking for a very inexpensive suit to "meet" the minimum requirements. But with some searching and lucky timing, I was able to hit the Sparco sale and picked up a top line suit for a great price.
Next item for me is the Hans device. That's a whole new post.
Hey Carlos,
Rotor and pad swaps are pretty simple.
We might be able to help you with this at Lance's shop if he is available.
On the pads, I'd recommend the Porterfield R4's for the front, or OE pads - your choice.
At the rear, OE pads are fine.
The Stoptech ACR rotors are likely the best value. Call JonB at Partsrack for these or check with DC Performance.
You should also bleed the brakes while you are doing this. You'll need 3 pints of Motul RB 600 which you can get locally or order from JonB.
Dan
Hey Jim,
I responded to your email earlier this morning on driving suits, so won't duplicate it here.
There is a lot to be said about driving in lower groups, safety and driver skill. I feel much safer running with more experienced drivers at higher speeds primarily because more experienced drivers are more "aware" of what is going on or about to go on about them and as a result, they are much more "predictable" drivers. Most of them also know the basics so well that reacting becomes instinct rather that thought, which means they won't over react most of the time and when they must react, it is quick and usually correct.
Sometimes, this is not the case. If you watch the video I posted of me running Buttonwillow a few weeks ago, you'll see me catch a white Porsche Turbo, present my car for the pass, then you'll see him swerve in front of me right in the middle of the "Bus Stop", then he attempts to point me by in an unsafe place. He clearly did not see my car, though I had been following him for quite some time ..... and I did not pass there as it wasn't safe given his car control skill level.
As I followed him, I became pretty sure that he did not belong in this group and really didn't drive very well. Swerving and driving off line are pretty good tips that the driver is either inexperienced or just not paying attention.
In any case, you will look cool in your new driving suit.
Hey Lance,
I need a HANS device too and would like to find a local outfit that will sell me one and install the helmet clips. Let me know if you find a guy.
Dan
Dan,
Regarding the HANS device, Ben posted where he got his below, maybe you and Lance can carpool to the place and while they install the clips we can go get some Philly Cheesesteaks? My office is about 5 minutes from the place.
Quote from: Banzai Ben on March 08, 2010, 05:50:41 PM
Hey Dan,
Thanks for the info. I think I need to get one since I've had so much trouble with my timer.
I sent my AIM timer back today to see if they will do anything about it. I also tried a Iphone app timer
that didn't work well. It said "weak GPS signal" and gave me very different times.
I got the Hans device at Werks2 in Burbank 912 Chestnut St Burbank 91506. 818 845-2530
They include the installation of the posts on your helmut. A little far for you so you so you might want to
check OC for a place.
Wow! 138 mph entering 8! Man, you are flyin'. It's so bumpy through that turn, kinda scary sometimes.
What's your next track event?
Ben
I'd make the trip JUST for the Philly Cheesesteaks....if it is the same place we went to last time >v
I have a weakness for Philly Cheese steaks too.
Maybe Ben can help us with what we should expect. HANS cost, clip install cost, can they do the clips "while we wait", etc.
I'll want the newer HANS with the sliding tether so that I can move my head from side to side a little bit and I'll want clips installed on at least two helmets.
Dan
Paging Dr. Kawata!
Same place Lance and if you approve, then Dan will most definitely approve too.
Here's some visual stimuli for you Dan:

I think the Sidewinders need to hook up with 'Food Lovers.com'. Pay Robert now or Simpson for a (Larger)

Lance and Dan, thanks for the inputs. I hear what you are saying, and it sets me off thinking again. (dammit) The rollover at BW happened to someone in my group. I also had an issue where I was following someone close enough to get by when the opportunity presented itself, waiting for the point by, when they lifted at an extremely unlikely point and I was almost not ready for that. I am also just learning, myself.
See you all in June.
Jim
Hey guys,
You're making me hungry! But I'm on a strict diet so don't torture me!
Regarding the HANS, I got the pro model($950 and 1 lb.) only because they didn't have the sport model($650 and 2 lbs.) in stock. Mine has the sliding tethers with regular clips. I wish I had gotten the quick release clips because the regular ones are a pain in the ass to unhook. They installed the posts while I waited, about 15-20 minutes.
I'd be up for going to see if I can switch my clips out and I'm sure I could find something on the menu to eat.
Thanks,
Ben
Forgot to mention that Werks2 is open Saturdays from 10-4:00.
Hey Dan did I see you on a TV commercial? Forum wars? Did I miss the details of that??

May 15th just got booked...so May 23rd is now better for the meet at Lance's shop. Let me know when you think we can get a confirmation as to when this will be so we can lock in dates...weekends in May are starting to get busy ;)
Hey Guys,
Speed Ventures will be running Spring Mountain on May 15 & 16. Looks like I'll be driving with "the Q" aka Deadhead that weekend. So, May 23 also is better for me.
I'll take some "in car" driving videos to share with the group. All we'll need is a TV with some RCA type inputs to show them.
Dan
Done......May 23rd.
TV is no problem either.
Just gotta figure out a time.
Count me in I made reservations at the Nugget.
I'm in for Lance's shop!

Anybody interested in a "double header"?
Our cars will already need cleaning and Speed Ventures is running Willow Springs the following weekend, June 12 & 13.
I'm guessing Paul will be interested.
How about you, Ben - or Mike Buckingham?
Anybody else interested?
This will likely be my last track event (too hot in July and August) before going to Fontana in mid September.
Dan <2
I'll try. Let me check my schedule.
Ben
Willow Springs the following weekend....I am IN!
I'll half to check with my crew chief to see if the Hoosiers have any life left after S.M. <q
Glenn,
If the Hoosiers are fresh on Saturday at Spring Mountain and you run both days, you should be able to get four more days out of them.
Dan
Dan,
would like to go to Willow too. Need to check my schedule. anybody got cheap spares tires, my kuhmo's will be done after Spring Mountain??
Mike
Tire Rack or Partsrack has a close out on some 335 Kumho's for $199. Older production date but they said they were stored in optimal conditions so they are still good. I picked up a couple.
Mike, I have two used 335 Toyo R888's you can use if you want. there's enough rubber for at least one more event.
Anyone need a fire extinguisher and bracket for gen 3 or 4? $100
Hey Mike,
Time for some Hoosiers - now that you've got a trailer.
Could anyone please post Lance's shop address, please? Its been awhile since I was last there and cant remember how to get there.
Mike & Cheryl have registered for Spring Mountain. Look out Dan because I will be in your rear view mirrow. I might be way back, but I will be there, some where, I think? =15
What is the current plan with instruction at the track, anyone sharing an instructor? If not I wouldn't mind going in with someone or alone, I think I saw the cost at $250 for the day, my preference is Saturday.
Juan
A couple of in car videos of the track configurations we will be running. This is in a Lotus 2-Eleven a non-street legal track car so the line for our cars will be different, but you can at least visualize the track now. Also note that the start point is different from where we will be starting, but you can see where he is on the track thanks to the digital map.

What time should we plan to be in Barstow ?? 11:00 ? 11:30 ?
What works best for everyone ?
Earlier the better for us. Can't run at 80+mph pulling a trailer. 8)
Barstow by 11:30am is great because we can just break for lunch there as well. If we get back on the road by say 12:30pm (at the latest) that should get us into Pahrump just before 4pm. All the rooms should be ready for check in by then at the Nugget. Gives us time to clean up and then head over to Q's for dinner at 5:30pm.
Viper crew may get into Pahrump closer to 3:30pm. Trailer crew probably closer to 4pm.
Mike, Cheryl, and I could meet up in Torrance and then head out on the 110 to the 91. We can meet up with Eddie along the way since he is in Long Beach and then we can catch up with you Lance further down the 91?
Where does everyone want to meet up in Barstow? Starbucks at the Outlet Center?

Hey David,
Last time we were going to eat at In&Out but it was packed to the gills.
We ended up across the street at the Carls Jr which had plenty of parking and short lines.
We'll probably end up there again for lunch.
Carl's Jr.
2856 Lenwood Road
Barstow, CA 92311
(760) 253-4846
I remember! I'll see you at Carl Jr. Should be there around 11:30.
David
Hey Guys,
Cathy and I are planning to be at the Outlet Center just before Barstow about 11:30 AM.
There's a Baja Fresh, Carls Jr. (we park in between the two as it has oversize parking), a sandwhich shop, etc. Diesel and gas are available (Chevron for you guys driving Vipers). I'll be towing with the new Dodge 250 I just picked up last week. It's about the same color as my ACR.
From there we head to Baker for a gas and potty stop, then on to Pahrump.
I may get the trailer painted (white) before we leave but not sure yet.

Tire Rack or Partsrack has a close out on some 335 Kumho's for $199. Older production date but they said they were stored in optimal conditions so they are still good. I picked up a couple.
Ben. Thanx! How'd you find out about the sale?
They are from 2007. Is it OK to run those with new 305's on the front (IOW, is it bad to have 3 year older tires on the back, even if all are "new")?
Did you have Tire Rack shave them or heat treat them?

There are 305/30/18's for sale at http://www.tires-easy.com/start.html for $196.74 each (normally $207.10) for memorial day. Exact URL is: http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl. I asked how old they were and the CSR told me "our tires are never more than three years old", for what that is worth.
The OC guys will meet up at the Chevron right at the 405 fwy and Harbor Blvd at 9:00
This should put us at the 55/91 fwy merge at 9:20 or so.
The South Bay guys can meet up and either take the 91 out and meet us on the roll at the 55/91 or you guys can head north to the 10 fwy and meet up with the West LA guys.
We can meet at the Chevron station located at 12659 Foothill Boulevard, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91739 at 10:00
We will leave there at 10:15.
This should get us to Barstow around 11:15, get through the gas station and meet up with EVERYONE at the Carls off Lenwood at 11:30 (2856 Lenwood Road, Barstow, CA)
Thanks Lance!
Okay South Bay crew and anyone else in the area...lets meet at the McDonalds in the strip mall off of Artesia Blvd. and Normandie Ave.
McDonalds
1398 West Artesia Boulevard, Gardena, CA 90248
Meet around 8:30am and be on the road by 8:40am
This will have us rolling through the 55/91 by around 9:20 to hopefully hook up with Lance and the rest of the OC crew.
Map for South Bay Crew, but also good for everyone else from point C and on.
I put in a stop at the Chevron in Baker for gas as there does not look like any other gas options along the 127 before Pahrump.
http://tinyurl.com/torrance-spring-mtn
From Barstow to Pahrump without the Baker gas stop is over 150 miles...I'm taking no chances out in the desert ;)
Lance,
I'll meet you at the Chevron station at 10:00 am - looking forward to it!
ScottP
I will be there as well.

Hey Anhtuan,
With the fill up in Barstow, it was no problem making it to Pahrump.....even with traffic and a little spirited driving on the back roads.
A bit off topic and I posted this in a different thread...but something you guys should consider for only $65.00
Eddie and I tried the Midland GXT1000VP4 on the Angeles Crest run. We also had the Motorola walkie talkies in the car.
The Midlands were hands down better in sound quality and most importantly range. Eddie was at the front end of the caravan and I was last car. Even stretched out in the windy canyon road by 3 - 5 miles we could still talk.
I had a hard time finding them, but it appears that they are back in stock.....and CHEAPER. I paid 70.66. They are now $64.48
http://www.amazon.com/Midland-GXT1000VP4-50-Channel-Waterproof-Rechargeable/dp/B001WMFYH4 (http://www.amazon.com/Midland-GXT1000VP4-50-Channel-Waterproof-Rechargeable/dp/B001WMFYH4)
This is a great thing to have when we are on our runs and much easier to use than the cell.
I'll be at the Chevron at 10 AM. Hopefully, on time this time, with a faster pace car! I have a couple Motorola walkie talkies I'll bring along. Lookin' forward to it. >g
me and justin plan to go hang out!! dont know about friday night right this sec but would love to be there but my "other" half cant leave till after work fri, i might still come up early
Anhtuan,
Cheryl and I will see you at the McDonalds Friday morning.
Mke & Cheryl
We'll see you there Mike!
I'll have a couple of Motorolas with me. Not as good as the Midlands, but I recall they worked okay when we drove out to Mopars at the strip last time.
For any one interested, we will be on channel 13, sub-channel 7.
Dan,
I am paid for the kickoff lunch. See you guys at the rendezvous location.
Hey Carlos,
Did you ever hear from Stoptech?
Did you get your new brake line?
Dan
Dan,
Not yet. JonB has been in touch with them but they want the serial number from the bag. I have been swamped at work so I have not had a chance to email JonB.
They wanted to know who saw the lines leaking, I told JonB you saw the leak and the problems we had. JonB didn't have a problem with it, seems like its StopTech. I will keep you posted on this.
Loooking forward to seeing everyone!
I see you guys will stop in Barstow around 11:30
Trailering for the first time, not sure of my ETA??
Lance, I'll touch base on the cell
Mike
Hey Mike,
You'll be fine. If I were you, I'd plan to leave you place about 8:30 AM ish and take it easy. You should make the meeting place by 11:00 if traffic isn't too tough. You can go over the toll road if the 5 Fwy is backed up - that's how we'll be going.
Did you ever get that front splitter extension trimmed?
Dan
Carlos,
I emailed the guys at Stoptech and advised them that the flared end of the line leaked. I'm sure they'll send you another line - they just wanted to know the "lot" or "batch" number that had issues.
Dan
Dan,
Thanks for that, I will wait for a reply from them. See you tomorrow.
Dan,
They built a set up where the straps go over the tires front and rear, you'll have to take a look and tell me. Next step is to build some custom ramps and I also think I want to add a winch.
They were impressed how light the trailer is and how well the van pulls it. On the maiden voyage last night from Fountain Valley to home all went well.
I know I'll be asking you alot of questions, and, assistance unloading and loading.
thanks!
Mike
Sorry,
I had a back injury that will not allow me to make the track event.
Cathy, let me know what I owe you for items I committed to...
I don't have your number so I couldn't call you to confirm I wasn't going....
=17
Hey Crazy Cuban,
Sorry you couldn't make it. While it was hot, it was still a lot of fun. Pictures will be hitting the website soon.
Put October 23-24 on your calendar for Viper Days / NARRA at Spring Mtn. It will be a blast. Further details to follow.
Thank you Michael / Virginia and Dan / Cathy for a great weekend !!!
Yes pictures will be up in the next day or two.
I managed to shoot 1349 pictures in 3 days ! >u
Great Weekend, Great Event!!!
Michael and Virginia, thanks for all your hospitality.
Thanks to Dan and Cathy for all their great efforts.
Lance, looking forward to the pictures, never got my camera out.
As an FYI., I left about 1:45 Sunday, the temperature on the desert floor before Baker was mostly 111-113 and reached 115. My thermometer stayed at 109 from Baker to Barstow, traffic was terrible and in my first 3 hours on the road I averaged 46 mph, including 60 plus mph from the track to Baker.
June gloom never broke in Dana Point, high temperature for the day was 75 degrees.
Too tired to eat last night, but did have a candy bar and some chips on the way, so I just drank some wine and ate some cheese. Weighed myself this morning, lost 3 lbs since Friday am.
Hope to see everyone soon.
Mike
The Penningstons; Chris and Scott, and myself left right before 8:00 and didn not get much traffic, in fact we were able to do some "spirited" driving on the 15. I was home by 11:00 in time for breakfast.
New brakes performed very well, I feel I improved from last year but that 3.1 track is still a tough one to master.
Had a blast hanging out with everyone. As always, thanks to Michael and Virginina for their hospitality. Hope to see you guys soon.
Hey Carlos,
When the replacement line comes in, give me a shout and I'll help you put it in and make sure all is good.
We left shortly after lunch and made it home in less than 5 hours. If I knew the Lakers were gonna lose, I would have stayed at the track for a couple more sessions !
Talk to you soon
Here's a preview of the weekend - can't wait to see Lance and Scott's pictures >u
...and yes, the pool is at the racetrack!
Lance,
Thanks, I will do that. I felt the same way about the Lakers, but getting home early gave me a chance to catch up on my rest. Had a blast, looking forward to Viper Days.

THANK YOU SoCal Viper Club for another GREAT turnout and event !!!
Great pics Lance, Thank you.
Thank you to Michael and Virginia and Dan and Cathy for making this event happen. It was so much fun.
Having the track all to ourselves was awesome!
Looking forward to Viper Days there in October.
Ben
GREAT Pics Lance! >v You'd never know that it was really HOT outside with all the smiles...
Dan & Cathy - thanks again for all the hard work in pulling another great event together.
Michael & Virginia - thank you for having us all out. Marcela and I had a blast on the track.
Michael and Virginia - We are so grateful to have our "desert home" away from home. You are always so gracious and have made this our own "VIPER DAYS". Skip would be proud.
Dan and Cathy - You have now handed out nearly 50 Sidewinder hats. Amazing! I remember my first Viper Club event over 5 years ago at Willow Springs when there were less than 10 participants. What a great (and safe) way to enjoy our Vipers.
Fellow Sidewinders - I truly enjoy the comraderee among all of us. It is a great group. I really look forward to every outing. It is always fun to see what each of us has done to our Vipers .... truly works of art.
Congratulations on pulling off the coop in October. I can't wait!
Hey guys I finally got my 900 images on line for you to view and download. It took hours to upload them! Anyway click on the image for larger view and top right is a download button. Images are 18 megapixel. There are 5 pages in each gallery so check them all. Also a lap in Brent's Radical is in the third link. That thing is incredible! Thanks for the lap and help Brent. Great weekend lets do it again next weekend! (if you see a missing photo check back some are still stuck uploading) If you want any big prints I can make 24"x30" LMK

I had an awesome time hanging out and driving with everyone. Looking forward to the next time!
Radical Guy
Fast Eddie? How about Black Flag Eddie or =15 Reckless Eddie. I think either will fit just right after that pass on the turn.
Had a blast, too bad it had to be so hot. Still deciding on Viper Days.
Here are some of the group shots:
Lance
Really like the video's, especially the one with the rear view too. If you've got more post them. Also, I don't think I was w/Eddie when he dive bombed Caros, good move!
Mike
After riding with Fast Eddie, I believe his name holds true now! Last time I saw a pass like that was when Michael Schumacher turned beautifully on the inside of Fernando Alonso on the streets of Monaco during the final lap of the Grand Prix. Though Schumacher was sanctioned for the incident...
Either way, Fast Eddie's pass was geniously thought-out and well-executed I assure you!!!
I'm thinking the Stig had something to do with it >l

Ah man, I missed all the good stuff.
I bet you're right Lance.
I made it clear to Eddie I wasnt "that type of guy" when we checked in.
Carlos was bowling with his left hand too... Coincidence? I don't think so.
Oooohhh, you know what happened!!! Are you still sore over your bowling skills, or lack of? =17
I believe the score says it all.

Eddie was next to me on the parade lap and then at the end he disappeared? O.K.now I get it. A cameo
leader of the pack type of shot. Nice Scott! <1
All teasing and kidding aside, I have to say that it was a great time that was had by all. Whether we were out on the track, at dinner, hanging in the Casino or bowling, the camaraderie was awesome and I look forward to doing it all over again.
We'll just pull two of the plug wires on Fast Eddie's car before we head out ! <11
I agree I had a great time! Thanks to everyone for making it a fun weekend. Lets do it again soon. Hint hint.
Hey Hirko,
No need to drop hints, "Again" is going to be at the end of October, hopefully I'll be able to make it.
Hey Hirko,
I want a rematch.
Lance, Great videos made me feel as though I was
there.
Carlos, Is your new nickname going to be "No-Point By Rattler"? I figured since you roomed with Eddie he gave you plenty of pointers on how to best point-by?
Hey No-point by Rattler what happens in the room stays in the room? <11
Art,
I will as long as Eddie switches to; Black Flag Eddie.
Eddie,
I guess I should have learned how to do point bys from seeing you guess still have a lot to learn.
Wow I am so sad I missed this one. =17 I was stuck at work all weekend. I did hear that you guys met some friends of mine on Sunday. I hope they all behaved themselves.
Lance and Scott: Great pictures ! Thanks for taking the time to document this excellent adventure and sacrificing your valuable track time to do it !
Thanks to all that put together this event, and I am really looking forward to going back for the Viper Days event in October !
Jim
Carlos,
A rematch on the track or the bowling alley, since I think you were chasing me both places.
Hirk
Just checked the weather at Pahrump for the weekend, Saturday's high = 84 F, Sunday 91 F. Willow Springs is about the same.
Just bad luck on the heat last weekend, I guess.
Will spend Saturday cleaning the car, changing the oil, bleeding the brakes, swapping tires and springs on the ACR. Will get set up for next weekend's Big Bear Run.
Just pulled the video camera out of the car today - been busy.
Great pics guys.

No-Point-By Rattler, Throw Lance into the rematch too, since I saw him blow past you on one of the videos. >v
That was the cool down lap >w
Are you saying you only needed to go 3/4s speed to blow the doors off of No-Point-By Rattler and Grease Lightning?I forsee another challenge in the very near future.
Fontana boys, bring it!!!!!
The POC runs ACS Fontana's "Roval" in mid September.
This could be a very good "warm up" track event for VOI 11 and it's close to home!
We could likely get a group rate if a few guys want to run.
Let me know and I'll get the ball rolling.
Dan
Dan,
Is POC less than Speedventires? If so I am in. Black Flag Eddie, and Hirko; we have a score to settle. =15
Hey No-Point-By Rattler,
You've done what no fire has been able to do, you've managed to scare Fast Eddie, I don't know what Hirko is scared of, but I imagine he's shaking in his boots too, Scott said from now on he'll just take pictures at the Sidewinder track events >w
Fast Eddie's not scared !
He came by yesterday and said he's HUNGRY for more !
