The annual Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival ("The Race at the Base") is celebrating its 17th year. Join thousands of race enthusiasts and fans in this premier motorsports event saluting our nation's military.

We'll meet @ Rubys Diner in Carlsbad @ 7:45AM to have breakfast @ 8AM. Leave about 9AM for Coronado to the races.

We will once again get Corral Passes for our Vipers to park inside the event, however, you'll need to purchase your General Admission tickets (suggest you do this in advance).

Passes will be given out at Ruby's or at the gate. Club member Randy Begin in conjunction with the Cobra club will also have them to pass out at the Gate.

The Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival is Fleet Week San Diego's marquee event. The event features fast-paced, thrilling auto racing and exhibitions for car enthusiasts of all ages at one of the most distinctive race track locations — Naval Air Station North Island, the birthplace of Naval Aviation. Nowhere else can you see a variety of cars racing on a live runway used by the U.S. Navy.

This is the only Navy Open House on the West Coast. Naval Base Coronado is home to over 20,000 active duty military and over 4,000 civilian employees. The general public only gets a glimpse of the daily activities happening at the base.

The Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival is produced by San Diego Fleet Week Foundation and hosted by the Naval Base Coronado and the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Program (MWR) which benefits military personnel and their families. They in turn provide positive support for the active duty military community and their families through quality of life Programs including single sailor recreation centers, fitness and aquatic facilities and base theater free movies.

Randy Begin has the corral passes.  We will pass them out at our soon to be announced Breakfast meeting spot.     If you can't make Breakfast we will mail them to you.  More to come very soon.  Thanks for your patience. Anyone interested coming out to Coronado please post up or send me an e-mail.

Could be interested but need more information. Like which day and other activities that are planned otherwise its a long drive 175 mile door to door it needs to be worth the drive.

Kiki and I will be interested in going.  We always enjoy these races.

Paul & Teresa will be there.

The Race at the Base is always a fun time.   With the cool ocean air and tons of great cars in the car corral, on display and out on the track, you couldn't help but enjoy yourself.
