Track Events / Re: Street Legal Drags, Apr 5th, $20
March 18, 2014, 02:06:12 PM
We are looking forward to getting back to the 1/4 mile. For those who have never run your car down the 1320, its quite a thrill to run flat out through the first 4 gears in a controlled, timed environment.
Lyle "lead foot" Larson will be running a quick Gen 1 car and Rick Hollis will be running the 1000hp "beast".

Yes lets all plan to meet and before the event and all get teched together.

Jonathon,

It was great to see you at the track, that Gen 5 was was really moving!

Our Comp Coupe and Gen 3 customer had a blast, the track warmed up nicely and by mid-day was spectacular.

The highlight for me was seeing Ross Murray turn a 1.46 in a WC Comp Coupe! The other best time of the weekend was a 1.53.

I will post our schedule for 2014 soon!

Garry called me today and will offer the car for a buy it now price of 85k, the car is fully prepared and detailed, ready for sale. it does include a spare set of CCW wheels.

For those who are interested, this is a very fair fair price for a highly prepared car.

Feel free to call me for details.

Miscellaneous Discussions / Re: Paul Walker dead at 40
December 02, 2013, 03:02:16 PM
I had met Paul several times when I was with the Mopar drift team, he was close to one of our drivers. very personable fellow, loved cars and acting. I can feel for his family and 15 year old daughter.

Things like this remind us how dangerous a car can be and that the track is the best place to test your driving skills.

One thing this brings to mind is your tires. Paul's accident happened just about a block from where they left. Tires need heat for traction, always remember that cold tires are dangerous. I don't know how many times I have had a customer leave the house and then jump on the throttle a few block later to get on the freeway, only to end up in the weeds.

Take care and be safe.

It was great to see everyone at the event, Ben Kawata and Greg Scilley posted the fastest times of the day getting in the 1.20's.

It was amazing to see how fast some of the vintage guys could get around the track in thier early Shelby's, Corvette's and Z28's.

The highlight of the weekend was the end of the day when 5 semi trucks pulled up filled with new Vipers and SRT's. SRT had rented the track for a week long media arrive and drive. Another big suprise was to see the new GT2 Viper, wow what a racecar.

Modifications / Re: New gears for T6060
October 31, 2013, 04:50:07 PM
Your car would need both 5th and 6th gears. I have a set on order now. I am doing Bruce Conklin's car next and most likely will start next week. I could do yours the following week. I will send you an estimate shortly.

I think you will like this upgrade!

Modifications / New gears for T6060
October 28, 2013, 11:29:29 AM
For those of you who have 2008-2010 Vipers or those who have fitted the later T6060 to your earlier year model viper. There are some close ratio 5th ad 6th (.80 and .63) gearsets available. This allows you to reach top speed in 6th instead of 5th and makes 6th gear much more user friendly. This change makes the upper gears more responsive, putting the engine in the better part of the torque range.

For those with the later T6060 (2009-10) that has the .80 5th gear, you can get just the lower 6th gear.

Installed price is about $1500, parts and labor with the better Syncromax fluid.

Feel Free to call:

For those of you that want to make your car run the best, Specialty Performance has been perfecting computer calibrations for the Viper since 1996. We have numerous calibrations for all year models (including Gen 1) that we have developed on the dyno using 91 California fuel. If you want your car to run smoother, cooler, have better snap throttle and no annoying skip shift, we can help.

All we need is your computer and have a 1-2 day turn around. Some cars require a cooler thermostat.
For those supermodified cars, we offer dyno tuning in real time by appointment.

Calibrations are $300 plus any applicabile shipping. Gen 1 calibrations $450.

Please feel free to call for any Viper related question or service.

General Viper Discussions / Mojave Mile and Magnum
October 17, 2013, 12:21:04 PM
We had a great weekend out at the Mojave Mile last weekend. For those of you who have never been, its held at Mojave Air and Space Port. Cars can run flat out down the 12000 foot runway. This year they had a 1 mile and 1 1/2 mile event.

We ran several Vipers, saw 200 and met some nice folks. A Suzuki Hybusa went 247mph and drove home! It was something differant and lots of fun, every Viper owner should try it once.

We are going to go again next year, everyone is invited.

Hey Guys, if anyone needs anything brought to the track or needs help at the event, feel free to call me. We will be there with Steve Dana's GT2 Comp Coupe and Greg Scilley's ACRX.

This will be a well attended Viper event, for those of you that have never had your car on the track, this is a great venue. Willow Springs is made for the Viper, it begs for Hp and does not beat up your car. With all that tire and torque, you can never see the limit of your car safely on the street. West Coast has a beginner group, so don't feel you will be pressured.

For you track rats, you might consider an asymmetrical alignment on your car for Willow Springs, its all right turns and is really hard on tires. With an asymmetrical alignment, your car will handle better and run faster.

As always, Gen 2-3 guys, your engine oil must be filled just barely over the full line and I strongly suggest a competition oil pan. Make sure your brake fluid has been changed in the last 2 years  and check your brake pads and tires.

For this event we offer a free 60 point vehicle inspection and tech sheet for the event.
