I just got an email from VCA, and I noticed that they have opened up VOI to any Viper owner.  VOI13.640, as they call it, will be in September and located somewhere in Texas.

Do any Socal VOA people plan to attend VOI?  Will VOA have our own VOI sort of thing this year?

Yes the VOA is having a Homecoming Celebration in DET July 18-20th.

SAVE THE DATE! IT'S HOMECOMING TIME - JULY 18-20

Twenty years ago in July, Chrysler hosted the first Viper homecoming in Auburn Hills, which became the Viper Owners Invitational. Since this club is going back to its roots, we thought it would be appropriate to re-live the original homecoming as our first national gathering.

Chrysler is opening the doors to the Viper plant and their facilities to us and we're heading back to Auburn Hills for the weekend of July 19th. Like the first VOI, this event will not be a track-oriented event, but a social gathering. See how the Viper is built, take a lap around the high-speed oval of their test track, and join us for a cruise to the German town of Frankenmuth. (We're making this spouse friendly.) Of course, every night, there'll be a dinner so you can party with your Viper friends!

Since most of you don't want to stay in downtown Detroit, we've booked the Marriott hotel in Auburn Hills as our headquarters hotel, about 30 miles north of Detroit, in the shadow of Chrysler's headquarters and the Walter P. Chrysler Museum. It's not only cheaper there, but the neighborhood is nicer! These are regular-sized hotels, not Casinos, so we'll only be able to accommodate around 500 people in the ballroom. Sign up early if you want to come! Details will follow, but mark your calendar. It's gonna be a fun time!

Thanks for the reply, that sounds like a great event!  Was it officially announced anywhere yet?  I happen to be free that weekend.

It was listed in newsletter #2.
Details will follow either in the next newsletter or on the driveviper.com/forum. Either way block out the date, I know they are working on some very cool tours for our visit!

So, VOI will be at Circuit of the Americas F1 track.  I don't know how much it will cost, but I'd love to drive on that track.

From everything I've heard from guys who hold events at major tracks... COTA is one of the most expensive ones to rent. Pricing probably isn't going to be cheap... UNLESS COTA is somehow discounting the event. Which could happen.

I also read somewhere that the laps will be in 3 lap increments.

While COTA is perhaps the most desirable of all the tracks in America, it is also one of the most difficult to gain entry to. Very few clubs have been able to meet their super strict requirements.

Believe this to be a great opportunity for those wishing to experience COTA other than just on a Playstation.

It is a huge track, brand new, and set up to the exacting standard of Forumla 1. Lots of safety, lots of speed, elevation changes, and a spectacular place for photographs of our cars on the track.

I know that VCA is working hard to keep the prices affordable (Viper owners tend to be pretty frugal) it might be a once in a lifetime opportunity that would be hard to pass up.

Here is a clip  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Jy09DrEOuw  of the Ferrari Club holding their Stradale Cup racing events there.

I'm not going to miss out on this...no matter what.

Is anyone from SoCal going to either of these events?

VOI sounds fun, and Detroit looks interesting. I have not decided which, or if I'll do either of them.

Hi Jay,

They have a standby list, with this much time between now and the event... There's sure to be some who can't make it... https://driveviper.com/nve/register.php

What Kala said.

No on Texas for me, COTA will still be there next year and the year after and the year after that.   8)
