Racing for ALS at Willow Springs
April 29, 2023
Screen Shot 2023-01-30 at 9.26.07 PM.png

A good friend reached out and invited me to this event.  I will be attending this as it is for a great cause and 100% of the donation goes to Help the Fight against ALS

Racing for ALS is, once again, branching out to the West Coast to bring to you Vince's Race at the "fastest road in the west",  Willow Springs International Raceway, Saturday, April 29th, 2023!

Since our race against ALS began when Dave was diagnosed in 2017, we have learned a lot about ALS and the needs of the ALS community. Therefore, this year all of our events, like Vince's Race, will support 3 different ways to help the ALS community. All 3 of these were chosen specifically by Dave from his research and experiences. They are the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI), Duke Neurology ALS Clinic, and our Patient Assistance & Van Program. Learn more about each of these and how we support them HERE!

Event Notes -

ON-TRACK Track Day/Event, drivers will have the opportunity to experience the main and iconic track at Willow Springs Raceway, informally called the "Big Willow", consisting of 9 turns. This layout is built for speed, but combines the speed with turns and elevation changes to offer a unique challenge.

OFF-TRACK: All participants will be provided with a midday lunch, in addition to a beer/social hour trackside on Saturday afternoon (see schedule).

** Driver's Perks -
Vince's Race Participants who donate/help us fundraise will receive –

Vince's Race event t-shirt

Complimentary lunch

Bonus beer/social hour trackside

Luis Vivar (LuVshots) is scheduled to be at Vince's Race to capture pictures of your car on track. The electronic files of those pictures will be a gift to you as part of the event!

The chance to help raise funds and make a difference in the lives of ALS patients by supporting our Triple Target Funding to Support the ALS Community.

Cost:  $325.00

Let's go out and represent the Viper Family and support a great cause !

A morning with the Legendary Schley Brothers    March 26, 2022

Paul and Mark Schley set records back in the 60's with their World Famous Lightning Bug - the first V-Dub to run a 10 second quarter mile.
They truly are legends in the SoCal Car Culture as they built, designed, modified and raced their Bug all over.

They are also Viper owners and of course, it is no stranger to the track.  They raced along side the best, like the late great Paul Mumford.

The Schley Brothers have graciously invited us to their place and tour their facility as they share great stories of the past, present and future.

We will head to lunch at the El Torito Yorba Linda afterwards.

As another year draws to its end, the one thing we all look forward to is the So Cal Viper Club Holiday Party.  In spite of the many challenges that we have had to endure, our Club officers - Angel, Anthony, Randy and Eddie put in hours of work to host a fabulous gala at the Laguna Niguel Ritz Carlton.

We had a spectacular room overlooking the Pacific Ocean which treated us to views of the California Coastline which we sometimes take for granted when many other states are buried under snow.

The awesome staff at the Ritz did not disappoint as service, appetizers, food and drink were nothing short of a 5 star resort.

Thank you for all your work in putting together one of the grandest Holiday Party ever.

I have posted the pictures up on my site as always - www.kouchicentral.com

We are looking forward to a full year of events and activities in 2022 and look forward to seeing everyone again soon !!!

General Viper Discussions / Very sad news
June 12, 2021, 03:47:21 PM

Raj joined our Club in 2011 shortly after buying his first Viper.
His infectious smile, bubbly personality and incredible positive attitude infused our Club with an awesome energy that will live on for a very long time.

We all have met a person who has left a long lasting impression on us, but rare is it that you find a person that can touch the lives of many many people.
Raj definitely left his mark on the Viper family.  He was never ever one that needed to be first in line or concerned about getting something for himself, he was always the one who was GIVING for someone else's benefit.  It is a trait that is so rare to find.

Apart from all that he did for our Club, donating his artwork for auction, giving us his graphic expertise in designing the Club logo and setting up Club events for us to enjoy, he was also an actor, professional model, singer, Master Mason, proud Shriner and a renowned artist.  His artwork has found a place in an impressive client list to the likes of: HRH Queen Elizabeth II, George Lucas, Toyota, King Hamad bin Isa (Bahrain), Sir Patrick Stewart, Baroness Margaret Thatcher, Janet Jackson, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah (Brunei), President Ronald Reagan, NHL, Diana Princess of Wales, Ferrari, King Hussein (Jordan), Roy Disney, McLaren, William Shatner, Harison Ford, HRH Prince Charles and Frank Sinatra

Raj's kind and generous heart touched so many people from so many facets of life.

After a long battle with cancer, Raj sadly left us on June 8th.  He will live on in our hearts and memories forever.

To honor Raj, the family has invited the Club to bring their Vipers to his funeral services on June 26th at 9:00 am at the Rose Hills Sky Chapel

Please either respond to this thread or RSVP so that the family will know who is attending.

Arizona Club run from Phoenix to the Red Cliffs of Utah
August 20 - 25, 2020

The VOA AZ region is putting on what we hope will be a multi-state, multi-region cruise event to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks and surrounding areas in Utah. We had a great time doing a shared event with the CA clubs last year and hope to expand to even more regions with this event. We start from Phoenix on Thursday August 20 and head home either on Monday August 24th, or for those party hard folks in the group there is an optional drive to Vegas on the 24th with people heading home Tuesday the 25th or whenever the fun (or money) runs out.
There will be a $75 charge per car to register for the event. That fee includes a commemorative T-shirt, one per car. If folks prefer not to have the T-shirt that will be accommodated on the registration page and the fee dropped to $50 per car. For anyone who would like an additional shirt or two at $25 each that will also be accommodated on the registration page.
Registration is on the AZ region club page www.azvipersclub.com and will remain open through June 15.

WHEELS AND WARRIORS
AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL COMPANY

-A EOD Warrior Foundation Charity Event-

Date:  EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED

We are proud to announce that the Southern California Viper Club, The Ferrari Club of America and the Cobra Owners Club of America-Orange County will join together to present the third bi-annual Wheels and Warriors event celebrating the EOD Warriors at Camp Pendleton. We have a unique opportunity to show our support to the incredibly brave men and women of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company. Following the success of our first two efforts, the Company Commander of "EOD" at Camp Pendleton has invited the COBRAS to join the Ferraris and Vipers behind the gates of the EOD compound to learn about what they do and see some of the amazing equipment involved with their dangerous mission. We will tour their museum and facilities so we can get up close and learn how these brave warriors locate, identify and disarm all types of ordnance from IEDs and chemical weapons to nuclear devices. We will learn what it takes to qualify and train to become an EOD tech and the physical and mental skills necessary to kneel down before an explosive device that can literally rock their world.

The Mission

To express our appreciation for this opportunity, our mission is to bring our very special vehicles down to display them for the Marines, Sailors and their family members who are "car guys" to the core.

To show our respect,  SoCal Vipers, FCA and COCOA will make a donation to the Wounded Warrior - EOD Fund.   This is a very specific fund that directly benefits the soldiers and immediate family members of the EOD who have made the sacrifices and paid the price for us to be able to enjoy the freedom necessary to live in the US and drive Vipers. When the unfortunate does happen, the Wounded Warrior -EOD fund steps up to help the families in every way possible.   We felt that this would be a GREAT way for us to say THANK YOU and to give something back.

The Event

As we did last year, the FCA members will have a dinner in Oceanside the evening before the event and will stay over on base at their Hotel. Viper and COBRA owners are invited to both dinner and to stay on base but we need to know who's interested so we can make the proper reservations. On April 4th we will drive our cars in a caravan from a meeting point off base and will then meet up with those staying on base at the hotel. We will then drive to the EOD compound where we will park our cars INSIDE for a display for the EOD team and their families. We are invited to bring our families including kids but only COBRAS, Ferraris, Vipers and other invited cars will park in the display area. There will be parking available for the other vehicles.

The EOD team will have BBQ grills and facilities for a picnic Marine style. (ok...leave the beer at home) We ask that each attendee bring something to BBQ or eat so we can treat the Warriors to a meal supercar style.

The Logistics

We will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Jolly Roger parking lot at 1900 N. Harbor Dr, Oceanside CA 92054. We will leave there at precisely 9:45 a.m. Please do not be late as we WILL leave without you. We then drive to the base gate where we show our driver's license to access the base. You must also have a valid registration and proof of insurance. If you do not have these documents, you WILL NOT be admitted.  This is an active military installation and these guys don't tolerate excuses and make no exceptions. Also be prepared to not be admitted if there is an event that requires the base to lock down. Your vehicles may be searched so if you have anything you don't want the MPs or their dogs to find, leave it home. NO WEAPONS.

From the gate we will proceed several miles to the EOD compound where we will stage the carss and direct the other vehicles to their parking area.

The Cost

We all know the price those who serve in the military and their families pay. The cost to us for the event will be substantially less. We will be collecting $125.00 per car to attend this event. We will also collect donations to the EOD Warrior Foundation in amounts of your choosing. 100% of the money collected will be donated to the EOD Warrior Foundation fund.

Please note that this event will be limited to the first 50 Vipers, COBRAs and Ferraris who register. We expect a sell-out so we suggest that you register as soon as possible. When you have been accepted to attend, we will ask for information needed to provide to the Marines IN ADVANCE in order for us to gain entry to Camp Pendleton. If you do not provide this information by the deadline and your information is not on the access list we submit to the Marines, be assured you WILL NOT be admitted to the base. There will be no point in asking for an exception as this will be out of our hands. Please make sure we have a current email address for you as all communication for this event will be via email. To register contact Andy Weiss at [email protected]

At the end of the day, we want to show these brave members of the EOD how much we respect what they do, give them our thanks, and give them a break from the high stress task that they perform. Let's make this a show they will enjoy and remember.

General Viper Discussions / Sad news
January 03, 2020, 10:14:11 PM
It is with great sadness that I share some very sad news............

One of our greatest leaders, past Club President and friend, Dan Everts has passed away.   I do not have a lot of details and PLEASE respect Cathy and family's request for privacy in this extremely difficult time.

Dan was always a pillar of strength and they kept his battle with cancer extremely quiet and private.

Cathy gave me the ok to share his passing with the Viper family which he was such a huge part of for so many years, but understandably is asking for a period of mourning before reaching out to her.

Dan was a great mentor for me and I learned so many great life lessons from him. It was a near impossible task filling his shoes and taking over something that he gave his heart and soul for.  The So Cal Viper Club was blessed to have him as our leader for so many years and his love and passion for the Viper family continues to live on because of his efforts.

Please post your condolences, stories, and prayers here and I will pass the thread on to the family.
