Hey Guys,

As you may have heard, the 2010 Viper transmission will be equipped with a .80 5th gear ratio (compared to the current .74 5th gear ratio).  The 6th gear ratio will remain at .50 - gotta love those government mandated CAFE standards.

I just had the 5th gear ratio changed to .80 and the 6th gear ratio changed to .63 in my 09 ACR.  Now, how often do you really use 5th gear on a track?  I use it a Auto Club Speedway, but nowhere else ..... so far.  However, on the street, I've been very pleasantly surprised at how much more usable the new 5th and 6th gears are.  You can actually stay in 6th gear down to 50 mph and still have enough power to accelerate and pass some one if you want to.

This is a very good mod to our very tall geared Vipers - I highly recommend it.  Cost is less than 2k.

I had Dave at OC Trans in Costa Mesa do the work.

Yeah, should be fun.  Previously, at the end of the front straight when I shifted to 5th gear, the car didn't pull very well - likely due to the wing and splitter.

Now when I shift to 5th at the end of the front straight, I can continue to accelerate!

Come out and drive Anhtuan.

Correction!  It looks like Speed Ventures runs the Roval Aug. 14th and 15th.  I do plan to attend!  I can do ride alongs with you all day Sat. to see the line and then run it myself on Sun Wink  Its been awhile since I've run the roval.

Actually, I'm trying to talk Aaron into taking the one run group at the POC event in September at ACS.

If we could get a group together, he'd likely do it.

August is usually a bit too hot for me at Fontana and it's hard on tires.
